Clean room, with widescreen tv, very comfortable bed, clean bathroom with below average amenities, provided with a pair of bath towels, a pair of face towels and a pair of hand towels. Most hotels my wife and I stayed in have 3 pairs each of these towels. Bathroom showing its could benefit from a remodeling. No room service at the present time, lobby restaurant only serves take out food. Bought two Hilton Burgers with french fries for lunch at $18.00 each. Flavorful and very filling. Use of the swimming pool limited to only 2 hours, however I was informed time can be extended as there were few guests in the hotel. Swimming pool area lacks greenery, you are staring at mostly concrete walls.
For dinner we ordered 2 steaks at $22.00 each. Provided with flimsy plastic forks and knives so cutting the steaks was quite difficult. Steaks flavorful but a little chewy, but I did not expect 5-star quality steaks for that price.
My wife gave the bed comfort 10 out of 10 and I agree. Slept like a baby, and that’s says a lot as I am a light sleeper. We did not buy breakfast from the hotel’s restaurant so I cannot comment about their breakfast. Check out was quick. I may come back someday when things are back to the “old normal.”
The room was around $160. It was fairly comfortable but had enough wrong with it that I wanted to write this review to let other travellers know what to expect:
Even in this time of COVID, and departure some ‘clean guarantee’ partnership with Lysol, there were greasy finger marks all over our glass window, which just made us wonder what else hadn’t been cleaned. The bathroom toilet seat was loose and sliding all over the place. Despite being non-smoking our room smelled of stale cigarette smoke and worse the corridor smelled of weed and it would occasionally blow through our air vent, assumedly from neighbouring rooms. A power outlet by our TV was broken. The lock on the toilet door was broken. Even the phone in our room didn’t work so I had to call in our food order from my cell phone. The biggest disappointment was that the pool was freezing cold, too cold to swim in, even though it was like 80° outside. While I’m sure the hotel can’t control the weather, I would at least have hoped it would be a heated pool....
So all in all not the worst hotel ever but still failing in some pretty simple areas, which concerns me as to the work culture of this hotel and in fact Hilton as a company. Hope they can improve some of this stuff in future, or charge less money. For $160 we could’ve stayed 2 night at a Day’s Inn or similar that would’ve offered an equal level of quality.
To make things worse, next day morning, when I was in bathroom, water was pouring from the roof (from the fire sprinkler hole). I hurried outside and wanted to call the front desk to report this problem. Thats when I noticed that telephone was not even connected to the cable and many of the buttons in the phone were missing. So I had to go to front desk physically to inform them and demanded change of room. The person in the front desk apologies and changed my room to 507. This room was good, however the soap holder in the bath room was cracked and was not in a good shape. I never expected this from reputed hotels like Hilton.
When we booked room, this reservation site mentioned that breakfast is free. The person who checked us in did not provide any vouchers. Next day morning when we went to breakfast area, we were instructed to carry vouchers. Then we went ahead and asked for vouchers from the front desk. Although this is fine, the servers in the breakfast area somehow discouraged their guests from carrying vouchers. It appeared that they wanted more guests who can pay by cash for their breakfast. We were wondering that our payment included breakfast they why the servers in the breakfast area treated us differently.
The bedding was very disappointing. The sheets were very scratchy and cheap quality compared to other Hilton hotels I stay at. They felt like they had never seen fabric softener. This made laying on them / sleeping on them difficult. The pillows were very small, far smaller than other standard pillows at Hilton hotels I stay at. Again, this directly effects the sleep I got.
I would not stay at this hotel again. For a "Hilton" hotel (not one of their lower brands) I was very disappointed that the bedding was so cheap and effected by comfort.
