I'm a frequent Hilton customer and achieve top status with them every year. I never write reviews, but I thought that I would share my experience to help others understand the challenges with this property. This property has gone through some renovations and still in progress as of March 2024. However, this property is not completely ready for guests. I stayed in the El Dorado wing of the hotel, ground floor, and end unit. It was extremely noisy, dog barking, child crying, maintenance coming to the next door room at 11:00 pm and the worst part was trying to take a shower in the morning without hot water. I just worked out at their very sparse (missing weights) and dated workout facility only to come back to my room without any hot water. I ran the water for at least 5 minutes turned the dial both direction (in case plumbed backwards) no luck. I was scheduled for 2 nights so I asked the front desk if they could get me another room to check into immediately since I couldn't shower and needed to leave for meetings....answer from the front desk, we can't do that until maintenance has looked to see if I the hot water wasn't working. I asked if I could speak with a manager...no, they don't come in until 1pm. My answer, I guess I'm checking out. I went to the front desk and shared my disappointment and told them I understood that they were following protocol. I asked them to have one of the managers (Jorge or Ananias) to call me as I needed a discount or refund on my room stay. They confirmed my phone number and I have yet to receive a call back, apology, refund or at the very least a discount. It's been 4 days since I write this review. Over the years I've learned that this lack of response, condition of hotel, and staffing is a reflection of the hotel management. We will see if this review gets a response. I will not be staying at this property again.

Hotel's Favourite
I am writing this review in hopes of helping anyone looking at staying here in the near future and keeping them from feeling the same panic I experienced when I read all the recent negative reviews. Yes, this hotel is undergoing a remodel. Yes, it is an older location and does have that old building smell to it. The employees here have been nothing but gracious and welcoming. I am in the Arden wing on the 3rd floor. The room is newly refurbished and is very nice, clean, and comfortable. The parking lot is a little bit of a mess right now with the containers for the remodeling, but it's nothing that would be an issue. I can not speak to the fitness center as I have not had time to go there, and the pool is closed for the season. I grabbed a drink and dessert and the bar. Very nice wait staff and comfortable surroundings. This place is very conveniently located for additional food and shopping. If you are looking at staying here and don't mind the dust, it's not horrible. I travel a lot for work and I've definitely seen worse. This place will be great once the remodeling is completed!

I'm sorry i didn't read the previous reviews before booking here. It's apparent by the MANY recent poor reviews that the hotel doesn't get it, as mine is not an isolated experience. The staff portray privileged millennial syndrome that is all too common today. I had a maintenance issue with the room, and asked to be changed before unloading my car. The front desk lady was insistent on having maintenance fix the issue before putting me in a different room. Having been traveling for hours, I was tired and didn't want to wait around in the lobby for them to get their act together. But their 'policy' dictates they try to resolve the problem before moving a guest to a different room. Further, the front desk lady got on the walky-talky whining about me being a problem customer, while I was sitting in the lobby listening. I actually heard of 2 other customers complaining about issues while I was sitting in the lobby. Problems seem to be epidemic at this place. The problems here have nothing to do with the current renovations (although I wish I was warned that it's under construction). There's serious management issues that are readily apparent the minute you walk into the lobby. BTW, the digital checkin doesn't work either. If they could fix that problem, maybe they could help themselves by not having customers interface with the staff.

The recent reviews are so concerning I was extremely hesitant to stay here, but my four night stay was fine. Hotel is about 80% renovated, lobby, restaurant, bar all new and room seemed recently renovated. Power was out at check in on Jan 22, and I was disappointed with the way it was handled once the power came back on (at arrival you wrote your name and phone number down on a list implying you’d be called when it was your turn, but once check in resumed, it was crowded chaos, and while I understand they were stressed, the desk staff were rude and despite saying the words “sorry” their attitude was annoyed and unapologetic). Also experienced thermostat issues in the room, third floor was too hot despite the thermostat set to 60, so factor that in to your choice of floors if given an option. Pool and spa were clean. The neighborhood is rough, even when the remodel is done, the homeless problem is not something they can fix. I travel to Sacramento regularly for work and I’ve stayed at 15+ different hotels in the area. Despite the many options, there isn’t really a “high end” experience anywhere, even the Kimpton has homeless issues, and parking costs downtown are absurd. Parking at this hotel at $10 per night is actually reasonable, you can’t leave valuables visible when parked anywhere in Sac. Freeway access is a plus, and the slider did a good job filtering the noise, in my room it was actually rather peaceful. Heard neighbors a bit but nothing unreasonable. Slow closers on the doors so they don’t slam would be a nice addition though. The room was clean, I suspiciously yanked all the sheets and covers apart, fresh and clean. I noted no “musty” smell anywhere and I’m pretty sensitive to smells. Four star experience overall; I’m pretty picky yet this was my second stay and I will definitely stay here again. Now that renovations are almost complete, I expect the bad reviews will improve with time, give it a chance.

There was a problem with my reservation , which I had prepaid for thru Hotels.com and Priceline for a total of three nights. I was informed by the front desk that I was only on the books for one night. Cesar at the front desk was incredibly helpful in fixing the problem and made this situation a positive outcome. If you stay here and are lucky enough to encounter Cesar at the front desk, you won’t be disappointed.

When you arrive at this hotel, you will first notice the homeless, trash, dilapidated RVs sitting across the road, etc. The "police bait car in parking lot" sign was also a nice touch. The building is very dated on the exterior. Inside has had a recent makeover, but has a funky, musty smell. Our room was filthy. Floors in our room hadn't been vacuumed in a long time. I don't think I've ever seen that much debris on a hotel floor. Dried chunks of food, an earring back, clumps of what looked like spit wads of paper, pieces of grass, etc. were on the carpet. Hairs and debris all over the hard floors. You could tell counters hadn't been wiped down, as a sticky ring of what appeared to be coffee was on the counter. Went to open fridge and a piece of dried shredded cheese stuck to my hand. Body wash, conditioner, and lotion were all completely empty. My husband actually asked the housekeeper to borrow the vacuum from her and I vacuumed our carpet and wiped down the counters myself. Woke to loud screaming/arguing in the parking lot in the middle of the night that sounded like someone was being harmed. In general, not a very safe feeling area. I would have never picked to stay in this location on my own, but was required to for an event.

I’m extremely dissatisfied with my experience at the DoubleTree. I arrived at my room at approximately 5pm and immediately lowered the thermostat temperature to cool the hot room, then went to dinner. Returned at approximately 8:30pm and my room was still hot and humid. I went to the front desk to report the malfunctioning ac unit and I asked for a bottle water to help bear the heat. One employee reached for the water but was stopped by another employee who told me my Hilton status was too low for complimentary bottle water, but I could go buy some from the restaurant. When maintenance arrived at my room his heat gun measured the air blowing from the vent at 84 degrees. He repaired the wall unit and cool air began to flow. He said he would tell the front desk that if it malfunctions again to move me to a different room. At 2am I woke up to a hot and humid room. The ac unit was blowing hot air again. I called the front desk and spoke with Swasti A. to report the malfunctioning unit so I could be moved to a new room and she said there was no note from maintenance. She said she could not move me to a new room, but I could try opening my window and maintenance would be back onsite at 6am. She never once apologized for the inconvenience. I could not sleep in the hot room so I stayed awake until 6am then called back the front desk requesting maintenance. Eddie from maintenance arrived soon after and apologized repeatedly. He attempted a repair but per his heat gun the air was not cooling quickly and he suspected it would malfunction again. He said he would try to find me a new room and returned in minutes to take me to the new room. I was exhausted from my sleepless night but gladly moved my belongings to the new room for my second nights stay. Eddie showed empathy and exhibited excellent customer service. Unfortunately the front desk and Swasti showed no empathy and never apologized. I left the DoubleTree feeling very unappreciated.

-There was trash outside of the rear entrance of Folsom wing, like a homeless person lived there. -The wing rear entrance door needed to be forced shut to lock. There were serval shoe prints on the outside of the door where people kicking it to close and lock. -There was trash in the parking lot that had been there for days judging by a package of tilapia that had been run over several times and was infested with maggots. -The cable TV in my room did not work. -I asked the front desk for breakfast vouchers because the TV did not work. They said yes, but when I went to get the vouchers in the morning the front desk said no and that there was no manager on duty.

We stayed at the DoubleTree Hilton for a conference. My room was large and remarkably quiet despite being near a road. Everything was new and very clean. the bed was extremely comfortable. I had a view of the parking lot and a little road, which was screened somewhat by large, mature trees. The hotel is still being renovated. This means that there are still some areas where the floor has butcher paper taped on it, or there are amenities missing (like a lobby store???), or rows of chairs covered with plastic wrap, or areas of the parking lot where they don't seem to have installed new plantings. There was not any construction noise that I could hear. The fitness center seemed tiny for the number of rooms, and the layout is really confusing--it is like some complicated airport with multiple linking terminals. The pool looked nice but I did not have time to use it. Overall it was a pleasant stay and the staff were quite nice.

Here for company training. We came in took the elevator and heard a scary sound as if elevator is going to fall. 2nd. We came to the room and you could see marks (looks like chocolate stain or blood) by the tv and cabinets. 3rd the chair has crumbs and not wiped down. 4th found a unwrapped lollipop on top of the ice bucket! Looks like the hotel is under construction. Disappointing for a hilton hotel
