Detailed Reviews
The staff at this property is wonderful. From arrival at the valet late on Christmas Day night to the front desk staff they are top notch. Because the Westin is open again and had been suggested to us we opted to stay at the Westin rather than the Citizen or the Sheraton downtown - the two locations we normally stay at. The room we stayed in is in very, very bad need of a renovation. The stains on the floor (in the hallway and room), stained and worn couch, scratched up outdated dark wood furniture, stained curtains, and marked up desk (even the removable desk pad was all beat up and stained) were shockingly below normal Westin and Marriott standards. Also the room had a strong cigarette smoke smell like a smoker had just made a visit and broken the no smoking rules. The room had clearly been well loved and lived in over many years. But we were only there for one night so not a big deal. There were also some items left from previous guests like a used coffee stir stick on the floor and white powder on the nightstand (likely coffee creamer). The lobby was beautiful which is why the room condition was such a shock. But again it was Christmas night and the outstanding staff downstairs was working extra hard. Also guidance for those booking or using SNA Awards, the 1 bedroom suite is more of a slightly larger executive room compared to what most other properties call a 1 bedroom suite which is usually a separate bedroom. The 1 bedroom executive suite at this location is basically a single larger regular room with a fireplace. If the property gets a refresh in the rooms soon it will be great. Until then we will opt for other Marriott locations in the area that are in better shape.

Thank you alex949 for taking the time and providing us valuable feedback during your stay. We are truly sorry for the condition that you found your room. Our number one goal is to ensure that all our guests have a clean and comfortable stay and I am truly sorry that we did not meet that expectation. I am glad to see that the staff provided such wonderful service during your stay with us. We do work hard to ensure that all our guests feel welcome when they arrive at the hotel. I appreciate that very much and I have shared the wonderful feedback to them. Again, we will work hard with our maintenance staff to ensure that all items are properly taken care of prior to our guest arrival. We are planning at the end of 2022/early 2023 for a large renovation of the rooms and lobby area as it has been some time since the rooms have had a renovation. Again, thank you for valuable feedback and we hope to see you in the future.

I have stayed at this hotel many times because of the location. I have regularly had problems with consistent service in housekeeping. Often the beds are not made or if you complain and they are done, they do not replenish the amenities like coffee or shampoo/conditioner. I like a lot of things about this hotel regarding location but not the service.

Though there was no problem with my stay, it did not meet my expectation for its price point and star rating.
First, the TV and channels are way outdated. It’s not high definition, and there was no digital TV program. It’s a very basic TV and hard to enjoy.
Second, the noise from the street is constantly there, including at night. We got the room that’s facing a major road. We didn’t mind the review, but the noise was not pleasant.
Lastly, this hotel is lack of entertainment. It’s really just a hotel for a good night stay, not for guests to hang around. There was a pool, jacuzzi, and bocce ball. That’s it. For its star rating, I was expecting some entertainment like foosball table, pool table, ping pong, or something else. They only had a basic snack selection, and they’re on the expansive end ($3 a small bag of chips). The restaurant on site (Scott’s seafood) was ok. I wasn’t impressed and they were pricy too.
All the staff I encountered were friendly. The interior materials for the room feel solid. The room was clean, and bed was comfortable.
If I were to come to Sacramento again, I would pick a different hotel. Other hotels can offer more.

Thank you Twjuju for taking the time and providing us valuable feedback about your stay. I am truly sorry that your stay with us wasn't perfect. The entire team works hard to ensure that our guests have the best stay possible and I am truly sorry that we failed to meet that expectation during your stay. Your feedback is important and the feedback we receive from our guests are extremely important. We are currently in the process of updating all the TV's to 55' LG - TV's and also working with our current entertainment provider as we will be upgrading to the Marriott Guest Room Entertainment package hopefully in the next few months. Also, thank you for the feedback in the lack of items available for entertainment purposes. In the next week we will be offering our guests bicycles to utilize on the river as well. We recently purchased cornhole and giant jenga as well for our guests to use on the lawn area. Your feedback has been greatly appreciated and we will continue to look at other avenues to provide our guests with many things to do at our hotel. Again, thank you for staying with us.

2 months ago I booked a room for three nights on their website. I received an email confirmation of my reservation. My trip was to be in 2 days and TODAY I get a text and an email telling me that my reservation has been canceled. When I call to speak with somebody I'm told that they have been shut down for 16 months and they are not sure how I made the reservation. I inform them that I made it on their website. The person I spoke with was kind of nonchalant like oh well yeah we didn't know all these people had reservations and we just got this list so we're canceling everybody now. 2 days! I have a flight and I'm bringing a small child and now I have nowhere to stay. The person I spoke to offered no real apology, took no responsibility for their company's huge error, did nothing to offer to rectify the situation, when I asked about some kind of compensation he said there's nothing he could do for me, no discount for a future stay, nothing. Now for me to book another hotel at this point just two days away from my trip I will end up having to spend approximately $200 plus more for a late booking. But they say it's not their problem. I guess it was my problem that I made a reservation on a legitimate website that they couldn't manage to shut down while they're not open. I shudder to think what would have happened if my trip had actually been last week before they decided to start texting people that they're canceling their reservation and I showed up at 9:00 at night with a small child to a darkened and empty hotel with nowhere to stay in a city I am unfamiliar with. If this hotel can't handle basic customer service when they do something wrong then they don't deserve to be in the hospitality industry and I would not recommend giving them your money or business.

This Westin is only 3 stories high and is right next to the Sacramento River. Half of the rooms have a river view, which was really lovely. There are a couple of fire pits in the back as well to enjoy looking at the boats at the Sacramento Yacht Club. This is a beautiful building and was originally built with good quality, but it needs some attention. The carpets were clearly worn and stained. The TVs were ridiculously old with no barker channel and any informational button on the remote was "unavailable". There is no club lounge. Breakfast that is included for Platinum members was a voucher for $15 worth of items at the kiosk located in the lobby. There were breakfast sandwiches, oatmeal, bagels, croissants, and coffee ($3.50). It was edible, but not what I expect of a Westin. The staff, however, was amazing. Friendly, readily offering assistance, and just all around pleasant. Layresha at the front desk was a favorite!

Wellllllllll …. This would be convenient lodging for guests at a wedding in gigantic event tent that covers beautiful lawn.
It is NOT romantic or pleasurable.
This Westin “in residential area” is next to busy CA freeway with loud noise on our balcony that was a constant roar through night.
A gigantic white event tent on lawn substantially blocks river view (up through October). It’s the focal point. It’s ugly.
Restaurant is not open for breakfast Monday and Tuesday, our two mornings. With Titanium Elite, a free full breakfast is a major element in selecting a hotel. I had imagined relaxed breakfasts on the patio beside the River. The restaurant patio, when opened, has view of gigantic white event tent.
We selected this hotel, with Marriott Titanium Elite upgrade, for romance for our special celebration. We spent a lot of money for an experience we did not receive.
They graciously sent a bottle of bubbly and a sweet note which we appreciate.
And, the staff members were friendly and welcoming.
What a disappointment the environment.

The Westin Sacramento is one of the nicest hotels I have stayed at (and I have traveled quite a bit). The staff was exceptional. We arrived about 9 p.m. without a reservation and they accommodated us immediately. My son is allergic to down, so they quickly changed out his pillows and comforter. This hotel is absolutely beautiful. The lobby, bar area, and conversation room is pure class. There is a large fireplace in front of the comfy chairs and couches that we took advantage of, while relaxing with a cocktail from the bar. There are gas fire pits on the grounds lit in the evening, if you would like that experience. All nestled along the beautiful Sacramento River. The hotel restaurant is Scott's Seafood, which is first class. Although we were traveling and could only stay one night, I would not hesitate to stay here as a destination for a relaxing vacation! Absolutely lovely!

Our midweek adventure began when we were greeted by friendly and efficient Valets. The front desk clerk welcomed and directed us to a beautiful room with a balcony overlooking the Sacramento River. The bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was equipped with a large claw foot soaking tub which we loved! We ate a delicious dinner at Scott’s Seafood restaurant located in the hotel. We had a lovely relaxing time at the Westin and will return as soon as we can.

Had a surprise birthday evening hosted by my SO. Unfortunately, my car was burglarized at adjacent lot. With the restaurant and hotel right next to it, the property could patrol or video monitor the adjoining lot. Ruined what could have been a lovely birthday celebration.

The small parking lot will not be able to handle that size of vehicle with a trailer. I had a hard time finding a spot to park a compact car when I stayed there. The parking lot gets pretty full with restaurant and hotel guests competing for a spot and it's a tight parking lot.
But there is a service road in front of the restaurant that you may be able to use.
It does. It has one of those sealed glass fireplaces, and the gas fire can be turned on via switch. It heats up the room really quickly, but isn't good for kids.
Hello LVGambler,
If you booked a Junior suite, you will definitely have a fireplace. Also, the Junior suite with the River view will have a balcony; the Junior suite with the traditional park view will not have a balcony. The King beds with the River view will not have the fireplace, but will always have a balcony.
Hopefully this clears up any confusion. Please call us directly at (916) 443-8400 if you have any more questions. Thank you choosing to stay with us!
Sincerely,
David Gladieux

Not sure about this but I would call and discuss with the manager of the restaurant there. They are very helpful and I noticed people getting off their boats coming to dine at the restaurant. Sorry I could not be of more help.
