"Your Home Away From Home"! The moment you step through the door you you will be treated like "Family". We pride ourselves in making sure you are comfortable and pampered. At breakfast, after sleeping in our beds, the talk is about how comfy our beds are. We spare no expense on our beds and linens. We will serve you an amazing breakfast and if you do not know it by then you will after breakfast. It is also our pleasure to make sure you also feel the love when you depart Napa Valley. Our Inn is located in downtown St. Helena, CA . You are minutes from 9 world class restaurants, lots of boutique shops and a few tasting rooms. There are wineries that you can walk to such as Beringer, Merryvale and Salvestrin Winery to name a few. Innkeeper Madeline Kidd has brought her "Southern Hospitality" to Napa Valley. Fresh flowers and pressed linens go a long way in making you feel welcome. She will charm you with that southern accent and stories about her adventures in the "Wine Country".

With family in the area we have tried multiple options (renting a house, staying in a hotel, etc.) over the years for our sporadic family reunions. This year 10 of us gathered at the Inn St. Helena and it unanimously rose to the top of the list. The location is perfect and the Inn has ample, well-appointed common areas that complement the very comfortable bedrooms (beds and pillows score high marks). Pat, the General Manager, is warm, welcoming, and by the time we left she had become an honorary member of the family! The breakfasts are fabulous, there is a great outdoor patio with a fireplace, couches and a dining table that would be perfect in slightly warmer weather than we experienced in December. The one thing that I believe they will (and should) be addressing are building mechanicals since there were fairly extreme temperature differentials throughout the Ambrose Bearse house (room 5 generally much warmer than the rest of the house) and it took much longer than expected for water to heat up. That said, can’t wait to return.

Lisa, it was a pleasure to host your beautiful family. The kindness and courtesy of your entire party has remained long after you all departed. I am delighted to be an honorary member of your clan; occasionally one becomes attached to certain guests after a few days and this surely happened here. I should tell you that we have resolved the issue with the lengthy water heating times in the Cottage House - lots of hot water flowing fast and furious! And as fate would have it, the temperature disparity issues are being worked on at this very moment as I write this. Thank you for your honest feedback, it is greatly appreciated. We look forward to your next stay with us. Please tell everyone Pat says hello. And may 2020 be the very best year of your lives. Warm Regards, Pat

The room was absolutely gorgeous and just as comfortable. The whole Inn was very well maintained. Breakfasts were fabulous, as good as any fine hotel restaurant -- tasty and beautiful presentation. Bed and linens were quite comfortable. We had a private patio with a table and two chairs which we enjoy. Large jacuzzi bathtub and shower, great amenities.

Overall, we were very pleased with our stay. But the last day, not so much. On Wednesday night, we returned late from a dinner with friends in Fairfield and there was a sign on the dining table with a large bottle of hand sanitizer and a box of sanitary wipes. Plus a sign saying that breakfast would no longer be served on due to Covid numbers and instead, guests would be given a give certificate to Model Bakery. That made perfect sense with us and we applauded the decision to keep everyone safe.

Because our room was adjacent to the dining room, we were stunned when we heard all the breakfast commotion at 9 the following morning. Everyone was sitting around the table like normal. That was a surprise to us because of the new instructions re: breakfast that we had seen.

But the thing that bothered me was that one of the people dining indicated that she had not received the vaccine because she was still unsure of its safety. With the close quarters of the dining table, this is totally unacceptable. Each and every guest should have been required to produce their vaccination card before being allowed to dine with others. Inglenook Winery required that of us and we gladly complied.

So there was a breakdown on 2 fronts. Had we been at the dining table and heard that woman’s comment, we would have immediately put on our masks and left the table. But we were still relaxing and in our pj's because of the sign we read.

Overall, the stay was magnificent but the lack of monitoring of guests' Covid vaccine status was alarming. Not what we would have expected from such a fine establishment.

Jullian, one of the property managers, was lovely and most accommodating.

We are so glad that you had a wonderful stay. Our whole team works really hard to make sure everyone has a safe and relaxing stay. The safety of the guests and our employees is our top priority. We would like to apologize for any misunderstanding regarding the signage on our dining room table about our breakfast service. Here at Inn St. Helena, we take Covid vaccination protocols very, very seriously to insure the safety of our staff and guests. Guests who are not vaccinated have always been required to dine outside away from our dining room guests. Since receiving your feedback, we have started a process to ask for proof of vaccination instead of just asking for a verbal confirmation. We are almost looking for ways to improve our process to benefit our guests and employees. Thanks again for your 5 star review.

We came up for a two day wine tasting visit to St Helena and stayed two nights at the Inn St Helena (formerly the Ambrose Bierce House). Since it was the low season, the room rates were discounted and we nearly had the Inn to ourselves. We stayed in room 6 in the cottage building ( I think it is called the Wisteria room ). It was a delightful room with a very comfy king bed and the room has a private garden sitting area. We did not use the outside area because of the cold weather in January, but it would be perfect for sipping wine, later in the year. The cottage has a full kitchen with refrigerator and plenty of wine glasses! The innkeeper named Pat was very friendly and helpful. Since there we so few guests when we visited, we did not have a breakfast at the Inn but we were given a $20 voucher to use each day at The Model Bakery, a wonderful bakery a short two block walk away. This bakery makes scrumptious English muffins that Oprah Winfrey has named one of her favorite things!! Apparently, she has them shipped to her! We enjoyed breakfast there both mornings of our stay and took home a package of the English muffins! So, if you want to stay in a delightful B & B on your wine tasting visit to St Helena, I highly recommend the Inn St Helena!!

I had my partners parents in for the week and they thoroughly enjoyed their stay at Inn St. Helena.
We all loved the property. The grounds were miticously taken care of. Fresh flowers in the rooms and in common areas, the bedding was extremely comfortable, super soft and luxurious.
The InnKeeepers Petrice and Julian were very kind and eager to please. The breakfast was out of this world. Fresh baked Muffins, Bacon, Egg Soufle’ and fresh fruit.
Look no further for a Cozy Inn nestled right in downtown St Helena.

On a recent wine tasting and dinner trip to St Helena, we stayed overnight in the loft studio. The studio has a full kitchen if you wish to cook your meals. This trip we did not. During the day we had great wine tastings at Failla and Peju and in the evening we dined at The Charter Oak, which is only six blocks away. The studio is located upstairs with a neighborhood view. Very comfortable bed with lots of pillows! In the morning we were served a delicious breakfast in our room (due to COVID precautions). The breakfast included a delicious mushroom quiche, Portugese sausages, fresh fruit and a warm croissant. We made our own coffee with the coffee maker in the kitchen. Also, the room has free WiFi and a large tub/steam shower. If you’re planning a wine tasting trip to St Helena, Inn St Helena is the place to stay!

Location, location, location! This is our second visit to Inn St. Helena, and it won't be our last. Located just up the street from the heart of St. Helena, you can walk to great restaurants, shops, and wineries. The cottage house is very spacious. It has a kitchen with all you need and a large dining table for our family of 10. Each bedroom has a beautiful bathroom, and two bedrooms have a fireplace. The upstairs bedroom has an additional pulldown twin bed. There is a living room and connecting tv room with a sofa bed. Every thing was super clean and comfortable. There was plenty of parking for our two cars.
Julian was a wonderful host. He was easy to communicate with, his instructions for checkin was clear and super easy. He fixed a delicious breakfast on Friday morning including fresh fruit, juice, If avocado toast and potatoes. If you are considering this property, don't hesitate. It's wonderful!

We were in St Helena for a conference. The location of the inn is great. Very walkable to shops and restaurants and easy access to wineries if that is what you are looking for. My 3 star rating is because the accommodations are just ok. Breakfast is not served until 9am which is late if you have any type of meetings or appointments. Not even any access to coffee. Our room was upstairs with a great shower and comfy bed. The rooms don't have individual thermostats and ours was like an oven at night. Also, be aware that this is an old home and there is a ton of traffic noise on the street all hours of the night and early morning. They advertise that they serve wine and cheese in the evening, but they did not. The innkeepers are not on site and are only there in the morning. Our tv service was out for the entire stay. Also, they provide 2 bottles of water, but know housekeeping services during your stay. If you are looking for a great home base location for your trip I would say yes because of the location. If you will be staying on the property for rest a relaxation, I would look for another place.

We absolutely loved staying at this beautiful B&B. From the minute we arrived we were treated like family and treasured guests all at the same time. We were provided with wine, cheese and snacks upon arrival and on the afternoons that we were in the house, as well as amazing breakfast every single morning. Pat, Jeff, Maria and Lupe we're all amazing and provided the most excellent service I have ever had. We were sorry to have to leave. Thank you so much for everything.

My husband and I had a lovely stay here. The location is right on Main St and an easy walk to downtown and several great restaurants. The breakfasts were home cooked and delicious and Pat, the Innkeeper, was welcoming and a joy to meet. The Inn is quaint and the dining and living rooms were nice places to gather. Our only issue was our room (Mollie Day). It was right off the dining room and we could hear everyone coming in and out and up and down the stairs. We would definitely stay here again, but would choose a room upstairs or in the cottage.

Ligaya, how nice to hear from you! I'll never forget your entrance carrying that sign for the rally! It was so lovely to have you and Grant stay with us. Call me next time and I'll pick another room for you. We must have had a lively bunch, as Mollie Day is usually a very quiet room...Hmmm. Well, all the best to the two of you and come see again soon!
