Nestled in the heart of wine country, Meadowood Napa Valley emerges as a luxurious retreat, favored for its serene atmosphere and immaculate grounds. The hotel's amenities and personalized service are consistently lauded by guests, who also appreciate the spotlessly clean and nature-inspired rooms. While the location earns high marks for convenience, opinions on value vary, with some questioning the cost relative to the experience. Nevertheless, the hotel's attentive staff and exceptional concierge support remain a highlight for many travelers seeking an unforgettable Napa Valley stay.

We traveled to Napa Valley for the first time earlier this month. Meadowood was recommended to us by very good friends who had stayed there many times before the pandemic and before the Glass Fires of 2020.We were so impressed by the resort and the staff. Two months before our arrival we were contacted by the concierge staff to help us with reservations for wineries and dinners. The concierge staff was extremely knowledgeable. They also help us get discounted wine tastings and in some cases they were even complementary. Everyone on the staff was courteous and respectful. In addition, we had the impression that everyone actually liked working there! Rare in today's world!
Yes, the resort was expensive, but you have to expect that for a world class 5 star property.
If we ever return to Napa Valley, there is no question as to where we will stay. Highly recommended!!!

We had a wonderful stay. The smoke had cleared and St. Helena had clear skies and fabulous weather. The resort was quiet, although there were several people enjoying the pool one afternoon - including us. Our room was perfect with a huge bathroom, soaking tub, fireplace and large deck. The staff was always helpful and prompt. We had dinner in The Restaurant one evening and it lived up to it's Michelin billing. I can't recommend Meadowood highly enough. It is a short drive to most places in Napa, although I'm sure this was because with the Covid restrictions and the previous fires, there were no crowds. The wineries required reservations, but they were easy to get, even last minute. Dining in mid-September at the restaurants had moved indoors, although we would have dined outside if necessary.

Wonderful cabin in the woods feeling with all the amenities of a Four Seasons. Our rooms—bedroom, bath and living room, overlooking the golf course and the woods beyond were laid out so that access to the suite and each room would not disturb the person in the other room. Even the deck was private.

We have stayed at several nice resort hotels in the valley and for this trip we wanted a different experience and chose Meadowood because of its unique environment of an all cabin styled resort hidden in a small wooded valley. This arrangement appealed to us, especially since we visited just before Christmas. Happily our choice was a good one. We stayed in a two room Treeline suite and it was everything we hoped for. Cozy and cute with raised white paneled walls and vaulted ceilings, fireplace, big window seat, and luxe bathroom. There was also a covered porch with two rocking chairs and a café table with two chairs. We did our best to stay in the suite as often as possible and enjoyed feeling like we had escaped to our very own luxury mountain hideaway. One important caveat; it was 70 steps up from our parked car to the front door and I would say that was an average number. Almost all rooms at the hotel require some effort to reach as they are all located on a steep hillside. All guests park near their room thus there is no need for valet service which was fine with us as was the walk up to the suite.

The hotel is full of amenities. There are three pools but only two are heated in the winter months. They are, a family pool, fitness pool, and cabana pool. There is a café that is part of this complex but it was closed during our visit. I like to swim laps and I enjoyed these large pools but thought there was too much concrete surrounding them which took away some of the charm of the otherwise country architecture of the hotel. Also next to the pools is a two story structure that houses a large full gym and locker rooms with sauna and wet areas. A small area used for check in/out is located here but it has no lobby space. Other amenities include several tennis courts, and a very nice spa housed in its own separate building. While these features were great, especially for such a small hotel, the drawback is that they are open to membership of local residences. So while the hotel was very quiet during our stay, the fitness pool was busy as was the gym.

The hotel recently opened a new restaurant that is very stylish and modern looking. The food was a little too fancy for our tastes, even for breakfast so we did not dine there. This restaurant is a replacement for the famed one lost in the large 2020 fire that hit the northeastern end of the valley. The immediate area around the base of the resort is fine but just above the cabins it becomes more obvious. The northern end of the resort is closed with the beautiful Croquet Lodge and lawns off limits to guests for now.

Meadowood is unique as it is spread out with no real focus at the moment such as a useful lobby or main building with a grouping of rooms. Instead it almost feels like a luxury summer camp. We felt its location halfway between Yountville and Calistoga to be ideal. With the charming and very festive at Christmas time town of St. Helena just minutes away.

We had a great time visiting the Meadowood over Labor Day Weekend.

Property:

The property was beautiful. The pools look like they were just updated. We spend the majority of the time at the pool with the kids (aged 4 and 2) since it was super hot. The pool was great for kids and they required reservations so it wasn't super packed other then a couple of times at mid-day. The service was amazing. Meghan helped us all weekend and was great. We could only imagine how hot it must have been running around wearing masks all weekend in that heat. We probably received the best service hear out of any similar place that we have ever stayed hands down. We didn't get to use the tennis courts or golf course but they looked great. I did attempt to take the kids on a hike and although we didn't make it far it was beautiful and there was water at various spots along the trail.

Room:

We were upgraded to the TreeTop Room from the Meadowood suite upon check in. We were also able to check in a little after 10am when check in time isn't until 4pm which was great. The room was very nice with a seperate living room with pull out couch and bedrood. It worked well for our family of four. The balcony area was large with a table where we ate breakfast each morning overlooking the trees and golf course. It was pretty secluded and probably a quarter of a mile or longer to the pool area which was fine. They offered golf carts but we mainly drove and there was plenty of parking. Another nice touch was that the tv's had build in Chromecasts so you could connect your phone and stream from Netflix, Youtube, etc...this is a seemingly small addition for the hotel and a HUGE touch for those with small kids that want to be able to throw on some of the kids shows at some point (especially when trying to escape 113 degree heat!)

Food:

We had our kids to checking out the restaurant onsite wasn't much of an option unfortunately. We didn't really want to venture out far so had breakfast at the room outside, lunch by the pool and dinner at the restaurant by the adult pools. The food was solid (even tried and liked an impossible burger). This is probably partly due to COVID but I would have liked a bit more variety on the menu or maybe another dining option besides the nice restaurant so that we could have mixed it up a bit but this is a minor comment. We enjoyed the meal; seafood platter and rib eye were particular highlights. The drinks were great as well both at the restaurant and at the pool.

All and all had a great time. The family pool had a very nice atmosphere with people giving each other space but still being social and enjoying being themselves which was nice!

We know that the allure of wine country, amplified by low COVID risk, has led to very high prices at first class resorts in Napa Valley and environs. We recently stayed at 4 of these for 2 or 3 nights each. The best was Meadowood resort, a facility half destroyed in recent fires. The remaining, reopened components are wonderfully engaging. The restaurant, theoretically a mere shadow of the destroyed Michelin 3 star facility, turned out to be excellent and generously staffed with very professional people. If you want to enjoy the beauty, safety, and amenities of Napa Valley at a high but justified price, go to Meadowood now.

The hotel's grounds were beautiful and well maintained, the suite was large, well furnished and clean. The staff couldn't do enough for us to make sure we have all we need. Daily breakfast on our patio was always on time, hot and well presented. All in all, everything a perfect vacation should be like.

My wife and I had an amazing time at the Meadowood Napa Valley celebrating our 20th anniversary. The accommodations and grounds were unbelievably well kept and manicured. The staff's attention to detail is evident everywhere on the property but especially in our room. The concierge was unphased by last minute requests for transportation and getting us dinner reservations at some phenomenal restaurants in the area for every evening of our stay. We had a wine tasting day with transportation curated for us by the concierge which was an unforgettable experience. The spa was wonderful. A relaxing day by the pool was actually relaxing and the poolside drinks and food were great. We can not wait to come back!!

I had heard about Meadowood from a coworker who used to work there. We had already booked our accommodations for our trip to Napa but were looking for a place that would do a cooking class with wine pairing. After reaching out to a different location and never hearing back, I reached out to Meadowood. Janine was very prompt in getting back to me and gave great suggestions for what we may want to cook. We decided on a beef option and that definitely didn't disappoint. Once we arrived on property, we were blown away with how beautiful everything was. Janine came and greeted us in the lobby area and took us to our private room where Chef Danielle and Monica had everything set up ready to go. Chef Danielle and Monica were so professional, kind, and knowledgeable. We learned how to make a DELICIOUS peppercorn steak with celery puree, au jus, and apple bibb salad. Monica taught how us to pair different wines with each dish as we were making them. The steak was honestly the best steak I had ever had which is great because now we can make it at home!! Overall, I do not have enough good things to stay about our plate and pair experience. It was truly a highlight of my Napa Valley vacation. We will definitely be staying at Meadowood on our next trip. Thank you Janine, Chef Danielle, and Monica!!!

My husband had a business conference here, and I joined him afterwards for a long weekend in Napa. The resort is beautiful and peaceful, with many amenities. We loved our bungalow with King size bed, seating area and fireplace. The master bath was spacious, with huge marble walk in shower and large bathtub. The patio overlooked the pool area, and lots of beautiful trees. It felt very private and secluded. The restaurant is wonderful, with excellent service. The spa was very nice , and featured attached bathrooms with steam showers. I had a steam shower before my massage , which was a nice touch. All of the staff were very warm and welcoming. The Grill is a great place to have drinks in the evening, overlooking the golf course and croquet lawn. It’s also convenient for breakfast, and even serves English muffins and pastries from the Model Bakery. We will be back!!

The estimated date for completion of the pool construction keeps getting extended. The latest projection is April, but I wouldn't count on it. You might want to check out Solage in Calistoga or Auberge du Soleil in Rutherford.
