I went to Santa Barbara for a little get away by myself. I was prepared to splurge and booked an ocean front room with a balcony. The location of the hotel is great, breakfast at the hotel restaurant was excellent, and the pool area looked very inviting - although I did not use it. The hotel restaurant was not open for lunch or dinner during my two night stay. I was shocked to see that my bath mat was badly tattered. The other towels were mixed - some were lush and others looked as if they came from a seedy motel. It appears no one cares about quality control to ensure guests feel they are having a luxurious experience. Really, for $500/night, I expect nice towels that aren't falling apart. The young man at the front desk seemed unconcerned when I showed him the tattered bath mat; he only asked if I wanted a new towel. When I got back to my room after breakfast, housekeeping had cleaned the room and left me a new, tattered bath mat! There was a timer in the bathroom for the light over the shower. There was no indication of the length of time the light would be on, and it went off both days during my shower. Very low rent - again, it felt like being in a cheap motel. The woman who checked me in and out was very professional and apologized for the bath mat, etc.…
We only stayed a night but found this to be a very great redemption on points. I've seen some complaints in other reviews that were cash rates, which I could see if you had paid a large amount. However, I found the staff very helpful and friendly and the location is excellent. You do need to account for the age of the buildings that have been very nicely renovated to over a premium stay but still have old bones. The breakfast and bar/restaurant are very nice and I'd stay here again without hesitation. They do require valet which is a consideration as it will add to costs but just increased the value for a Globalist staying on a free night award.
I wasn’t that impressed with this hotel, for the price of almost 500.00 a night I would at the very least expect to have clean sheets that don’t have blood stains on them. The property is located across the street from the ocean but would rather sacrifice for quality and cleanliness.
Such a great stay at this hotel. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. I especially liked the bathroom with beautiful tiling, great lighting, and a wonderfully hot shower. Location was prime with the beach across the street, and the pier and downtown state street only a mile away. Definitely will be staying here again.
Location is ideal in the wharf of the Santa Barbara bay.The room was clean and nice. I was on the bottom floor facing the parking lot, not ideal. It would have been better if I was on the upper floor to reduce noise, and have an ocean view! The pool area was nice. The breakfast in the bistro was great.
I loved my stay and Mar Monte and the stay reconfirms why I’m a loyal Hyatt member. While my room was not ready when expected (but earlier than actual checkin), the super sweet manager went above and beyond to make up for it. The location is great and the avocado toast at Costa is amazing. It looks like my room was recently redone and it was nice and had everything needed. The food at the restaurants were yummy and super reasonably priced. I would definitely stay again!
My fiancé and I were planning a romantic New Year’s Eve get away and had heard a lot of impressive things about Hotel Mar Mont in Santa Barbara, so we booked two nights from 12.30.22-1.1.23. Upon our arrival, the hotel was just as breathtakingly beautiful as it presented in the photos; however, our stay was not at all up to the standards and quality one would expect from a hotel on this level of luxury and cost. Room was valued at $599 a night. We would like to pass along a few things for your attention… 1. Upon initially entering our room (2-104), we noticed the smell of urine coming from the bathroom. We hastily contacted the front desk to have this problem remedied 2. We departed our room on the morning of 12.31.22 @ approx. 9:40am and returned at approx. 3:30pm to notice no housekeeping duties had been performed. We again had to contact the front desk to request the room be cleaned. After the cleaning, we then noticed the trash had not been emptied and no clean washcloths had been provided. We again had to contact the front desk for washcloths 3. The coasters provided were not new or clean. On the contrary, they were previously used by other guests and soiled with stains. See attached pictures. The glasses that were placed upside on the coasters, we washed the glasses by hand to ensure they were cleaned. 4. The AC/Heating system in our room made a consistent high-pitched sound making it difficult to fall asleep 5. The Insulation needs improvement. Compared to other high end hotels in which we were guests, there was a lot of noise from the hallway and the room above 6. When using the bathrobes provided, one of them had no belt. 7. Pool towels were tattered and worn. Again, these things are very surprising considering the level of luxury sold in the presentation connected to Hotel Mar Monte. Needless to say, the above list of items far from enhanced our romantic New Year’s Eve get away and left us feeling quite disappointed with our stay at your hotel. …
Hotel rooms and hallway were incredibly dated, with some order clearly hiding something. there was no value for the price paid, and we felt like we were back in camp, not in Santa Barbara. we chose to leave early and head back to LA rather then spend another night there, even though room was paid for.
This hotel is nice. I can't complain about anything significant. You have to pay for parking and you will want to tip the valets, so that add about $40 a day to the rate. The workout room was ok, but both of the Peleton bikes were broken. The rooms are nice. Getting one with a view on the beach is not a lot more expensive. The coffee in the lobby and in the rooms is horrible. It is also horrible in the restaurant next door, Costa. These aren't big issues, so give it a try.
The room was cozy and nice. The bed was comfortable as well as the pillows. I absolutely loved the tile wall designs and the shower design. The view outside our window was breathtaking with the sunrise by the beach. My boyfriend and I had breakfast outside right next to the beach the morning after arriving and it such a beautiful sight to see. Excellent customer service from Rusty, Jackie and Nilly.
