Could not fault the location, also had a heated pool and spa which we didn’t get chance to enjoy. Free parking on site, easy walk to the beach and pier as well as restaurants. Also a short stroll to downtown for all the sites, shops, bars and restaurants. I would stay here again. Free coffee, fruit and muesli bars available in reception. The only downside was no fridge in the room.
Great family stay, stayed in the Edgewater suite which was perfect for a family, plenty of room and space for us all, staff were excellent and couldn’t do enough, free parking, cookies and coffee very welcome, pool and spa were great to relax in, a perfect family stay and great value
We stayed for 4 nights in Santa Barbara at the Franciscan Inn motel 5 minutes walk to the beach. The motel had a big heated pool and hot tub; a laundry; and free tea and cookies in the afternoons. The staff were welcoming, helpful and kind. We had a room with two queen beds for £200 per night. The room wasn’t huge but was big enough, clean and comfortable, with air con and a fridge. The wi-fi was free, fast and reliable. This was a simple but well-executed motel and one of the best value accommodations we stayed at in California.
Centrally located in a very walkable town. Close to beach, pier, restaurants, State St., Funk Zone. Clean rooms, professional/courteous staff and the freshly baked daily cookies are a nice touch. Highly recommend.
This is our second visit to the Franciscan Inn. Without mimicking everyone else’s glowing reviews, let’s just say that this is one of the finest places to stay, Comfy rooms, attentive front desk personnel, well maintained property. Plus you’re within walking distance to all that Cabrillo Street has to offer and State Street. Plus all the other local attractions. Since Covid, looks like they permanently shut down a portion of State Street thereby eliminating the trolley that used to run. All in all, when looking for a place to stay, be it one night or longer, check out the Franciscan Inn.
Perfect location. We could walk everywhere we wanted pretty much from here (beach, pier, marina, restaurants/bars, parks). Quaint Spanish-style property. Very well kept property. Onsite staff, friendly and helpful. Some rooms are more updated than others (check the carpet). We stayed in 122 and LOVED it. So quiet! Big! Clean. Very comfortable bed. Nice fridge and cooktop/cookware (we did not use). Microwave. Good tv's in living and bedroom. Big balcony. I'd suggest second story room, but honestly I'm sure they all were great. I'd read about "thin walls" in other reviews but we didn't hear a peep. The breakfast was really just coffee (great! strong!), a fruit and packaged granola bars. Cookies in the afternoon were yummy. But there are so many great breakfast and other options close by, it really didn't matter. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat. …
We have stayed here before and go back every time we're in Santa Barbara. The rooms are so nice and very comfortable. The grounds are lovely, with mature vegetation. The staff is excellent, helpful and friendly.
Nice little place walking distance to the water and State St. Hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. If you stay here do try the fresh cookies in the lobby, they are really good. The bed was comfortable and the room was a decent size. Our visit was during a very hot weekend and the a/c worked wonderful. The only reason for the 4/5 is due to the fact that the room was considerably dated. Furnishing and fixtures could use an upgrade. An in room mini fridge would also be a nice addition. Understanding that the hotel is older and has normal wear and tear which is to be expected. The price point is consistent with other places in the area. Not a bad place for a night or two.
Fantastic place. Stayed for one night on a road trip. Parking was free. The staff were friendly and helpful, they had a lot of great recommendations. Close to the beach and centre of Santa Barbara - easily walkable. Safe and quite area. Rooms were lovely for the price too! Probably the best motel we stayed in on our US road trip.
Pros: The front desk staff were very welcoming and helpful. The location was in a nice neighborhood, close to restaurants and beach. Cons: the rooms are quite dated. Our room had very tired, stained carpet. Cleanliness was a bit questionable, there were stains on the wallpaper and a jug of old milk left in the refrigerator. If you have neighbors, noise is going to be an issue. The walls are paper thin. We moved rooms upon arrival because of this issue. There was a family next to us who were quite loud. The front desk was very accommodating and let us check in to a different room. However, we had neighbors above us and we could hear noises that were very uncomfortable when traveling with our teenage son… I would not stay here again.
