2 spent nights at the Haley Hotel. The internet kept kicking me out. It finally just stopped working early on the first day. If you plan on getting any work done or using any device that used the internet, avoid this hotel
Haley Hotel has a really cool vibe- love the decor around the property and in the rooms. The rooms are airy, light, modern but with a nautical feel. Lovely toiletries and lots of nice extras- free 2 hour bike hire, fire pits, outdoor games. It’s right by the downtown strip so it’s perfectly located and doesn’t take long to get anywhere! Everyone we dealt with was very polite and helpful. Would really recommend!
The standout experience at this downtown refurbished motel was the staff who were friendly and helpful. The location is convenient too. The rooms are perfectly acceptable -- comfortable bed and good shower. However, seniors should be warned that there is no elevator and there's a steep set of stairs taking you to the second floor. I am a writer on book tour so I had a heavy case which the front desk person lugged up and down the stairs. Note also that there is no closet in the rooms, but a series of hooks on the wall. This is fine for most people, but wasn't great for me. Finally, the WYFY was non-existent, which made doing a zoom reading an interesting adventure (I used my phone as a hotspot).
There is a street party right outside and it's impossible to sleep. Music is blasting into our l room at close to midnight. They said they would call the DJ and ask to turn it down- avoid also No wifi or cable working for the entire trip due to street work
Honestly one of the best stays ever in CA! My husband and i just drove back From LA where we stayed at the W Los Angeles! Had such an awful experience, bare in mind we had travelled all the way from Qatar only to be disappointed ! We thought since we were driving back To San Francisco, we’d stop In Santa Barbara . We came across Haley hotel And Met A wonderful lady named Anna who was so lovely, warm And empathetic towards our stay at the W LA. We did get the last Room but OmG! It was just perfect and turned our day right around! 5 Minutes away from State Street, parking was at a minimal Charge! Just what we needed! Great stay! The housekeeping staff are so friendly as well!!
It saddens me to write this review, but the management at this hotel are more interested in grabbing your money than making sure the guest is treated fairly. Their business model must target one-time tourist business with flashy ads and poor service. I made a reservation for three rooms each for two nights. When I called the hotel to ask about parking, they told me it was $20 next door. I also inquired if the room was ready for an early check in, casually it was said call us when you arrive and if so then we can have you come in early. We arrived and at the front desk we asked if we could check in early or if we should come back since check in was 4pm and we arrived around 3pm. The young gentleman Kyle was super cool and told us to go ahead and settle in. There was no mention of any early check in fee over the phone nor in person. It was not until I reviewed my credit card statement after checkout that I saw I was being charged a $15 early check in fee. When I called to ask why I was being charged they told me that it turns out that when we checked out the invoice was reviewed. I asked by whom, because I certainly was not informed, instead by someone in my party unauthorized to discuss payment, since I was treating the family to a weekend in SB). Despite review of invoice upon checkout with one of my guests, it’s not alright to mention there’s a charge for undisclosed fees after they’ve already occurred. I called the hotel over the course of two weeks trying to speak to manager Bris, she would not return my calls and my messages were ignored. So I resorted to emailing her and she did not even have the courtesy to respond. After she ignored two of my emails, she finally responded to the third! Yet, they wouldn't give me a refund. Manager Bris would not issue a refund said the hotel wouldn't allow it. They just kept my money. I am a repeat travelor to Santa Barbara and they didn't care. I spent $1800 over two nights and Bris would not offer to reverse the undisclosed early check in fee. The fee although minor in comparison to overall bill, it’s the principal of how this matter was poorly handled. Any other hotel I’ve stayed at if the room is ready, they have the choice to allow you to check in early (I’ve never seen fees for this, but I’m sure if there are they would make it clear). My group was in no rush, had we known, we would have simply grabbed a bite to eat. Everything is in walking distance. I am forewarning you this hotel does not care at all about customer concerns, and is completely complacent to operate in an unethical way.…
We have stayed here multiple times as it is a great location - a block from state street restaurants and quick 10 min walk to the funk zone and beach. It is very dog friendly with a fenced in dog run. Note there are extra charges for parking and your dog. As others have noted, it’s a pretty basic renovated motel but is clean and comfortable. You are paying for the location. We will continue to return!
Cute, mostly clean little MOTEL in an ok location. It's a little sketchy but it is right near State Street. And, at least mid-week during Covid, I did not experience the noise issues that I've read about. Not sure if breakfast (which I just read about in other reviews) is included any more as the staff didn't mention it upon check in. Oh, and I didn't see a free snack bar, just snacks for $1 each. Given the lack of other basic items, I'm sure they took those off the list. Lacking: Basic cable tv Water glasses Even a single hanger A clock A phone I know, who needs those last two items since we all have smart phones? Oh, and my room had ants in the bathroom and I eventually found them on my clothes. The icing on the cake is, I received a review request from the hotel after I checked out. It indicated that it was a Tripadvisor review. But... the review never showed up...…
We stayed at the Haley over the weekend along with our dog and truly enjoyed our stay. First off, it is true that you do hear street noises but if you request a room closer to the middle of the hotel it will be fine. Plus, the pros completely outweigh the noise - earplugs are provided. Pros: Proximity of the hotel to state street, the funk zone and the wharf. The hotel is modern, nautically themed decor, AC, room ceiling fan, they provide a lounge area with games, Bbq, and bike rentals. Parking is on site, dogs are welcomed ($30/night few), complimentary nespresso and tea in the lobby area. Competitive prices for the location - would totally stay and recommend the Haley!
We had such a great time in Santa Barbara thanks to Haley Hotel! It was our second visit to this marvelous place. The location of the property is absolutely perfect, it’s downtown SB, right next to the restaurant and bar scene, a 10 min walk to the beach, and a 15 min walk to the Historic Courthouse. The hotel offers bike rentals, the back patio is large and spacious, there’s even an orange tree where you can pick a few oranges! Love, love, love Haley Hotel!
