Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

The Riviera Beach House hotel garners praise for its comprehensive amenities, such as complimentary bikes and a wine and cheese reception, and its cleanliness is often highlighted by guests. Nestled in the vibrant Funk Zone, its prime location is a stone's throw from beaches and local attractions, making it a hit with many travelers. While the service is typically lauded for being friendly and attentive, there have been occasional reports of less-than-stellar interactions. Although the well-designed rooms and eco-friendly practices are popular, some guests find the rooms on the smaller side and mention noise concerns. Opinions on value vary, with the location often seen as a major plus despite the room size and noise issues.

This is my all time favorite hotel, the area is super walkable - go towards the beach and you have the pier, funk zone, amazing restaurants like Santo Mezcal (which does room service as well +++) and go up state street, and you have shopping, bars, another selection of great restaurants. I like to take the Amtrak up here but they do have a parking lot next door to park in which is safe and supervised. The staff is amazing, Thomas gave me a lot of awesome recommendations and everyone there makes me feel right at home. I’ve stayed at other places and didn’t feel the same warmth and comfort as I do at riviera beach house. The rooms are insanely clean, there’s a ton of lighting settings that are great for every preference, whether you want dim lights or something brighter to read under. The rooms smell so good, you know that means great ventilation and hygiene. I trust them 110% and will not hesitate to stay here everytime in in Santa Barbara. Thank you guys so much once again this is my favorite hotel ❤️

Hotel Indigo is a quaint boutique hotel with both modern and traditional Santa Barbara touches. Its location couldn’t be more convenient, just a half block south of the train station on State Street. It’s a short walk to the beach in one direction and downtown in the other. From the moment I stepped into the fresh, bright, modern lobby I was greeted with warm smiles. There couldn’t have been a more welcoming introduction to my stay here. The staff was consistently available, professional, and friendly, ready with a sincere greeting every time I came and went. COVID precautions are taken seriously here and it was clear a lot of thought went into guest safety and comfort.

My room was on the first floor with a private patio. The room makes the most of its small size with a clean, simple, minimalistic layout. Bright white walls expand the space while beautiful wood grain flooring and exposed brick on the patio side give it a historic feel befitting its location.

The TV and air conditioning unit, both wall mounted, help keep the limited space open and uncluttered. The single closet/dresser/coffeemaker unit (a Keurig!) does likewise. Still, there was plenty of workspace with a large glass-topped desk and numerous outlets. A white noise generator was a pleasant surprise although the hotel was very quiet during my stay and it wasn’t really needed. The occasional train was not a bother.

The European style bathroom is quite small as expected. The adjustable handheld shower is a delight. The highlight was the patio, large and well appointed with a wicker table and two cushioned chairs, surrounded by greenery and dark woods. What a delightful setting it was for coffee in the morning and late night snacks. I look forward to returning here in a few months. This property is truly a gem.

Stayed here two nights and had a wonderful time! The hotel is in a great location, with restaurants and wineries close by and the beach is two blocks away. The outdoor patio had comfortable chairs and we enjoyed sitting outside after dinner. Parking on site was $40 per night. Hotel staff were great! They gave us a larger ice bucket and also held our ice packs for our cooler in their fridge. The rooms are definitely small, but we knew that going into it. I would definitely stay here again!

This hotel is located right in the heart of Santa Barbara, steps from the beach, restaurants, and shops. The staff is incredibly nice.

Parking is expensive $50/night, but the hotel is kind enough to let you know you can park at the train station for free, and it’s a 1 minute walk from the hotel.

The “but” about the hotel is the noise. Yes lots of noise. How bad is the noise ? We were issued ear plugs when we checked in. They even had a white noise machine in the room to combat the noise. Where does the noise come from ? The restaurant right below the hotel plays it’s music until about 10pm. Plenty of deep base coming from the outdoor speakers and you can feel it in the room. Then about 7am you can’t ignore the roar of the train, which is only feet away from the hotel. The train blows its horn and there’s no sleeping through it !

Our room was on the front of the hotel, with a partial ocean view, maybe the rooms further back in the hotel aren’t impacted by the restaurant music ?

It’s not a bad hotel at all, but the hotel should have been more honest about the noise. I have stayed at other hotels in Santa Barbara, at this price range, and they are much quieter.

Hi there, 939seans! Thank you so much for sharing your experience with our hotel. I'm so sorry about the noise and the parking situation. The situations you have raised are definitely not what we expect from any of our properties, nor something we want our guests to encounter. I'll share your thoughts with our hotel management team as a reference for future enhancements. On a lighter note, it's good to know that you had pleasant encounters with our hotel staff. I've shared your compliments with the team and have been acknowledged by the hotel management. I truly hope that we will have a chance to make it up to you and provide you with a better experience upon your return. Best, Peter J. Case Manager IHGService

Other than a Sofitel Hotel on the right bank in Paris decades ago, this is the smallest hotel room I have stayed in at 215 sq ft. The bathroom is so small the glass door folds flat against the wall so you can sit on the toilet. You have just enough room to walk around the bed but that’s it. That said, it is a marvel on how well space is utilized. And the location? Can’t beat it: 2 blocks from the beach and pier, on the main drag so everything is in walking distance. We spent 40K per night in IHG points to book one of the largest rooms for 2 nights – a King Garden Suite. And that was the “sweet” part – a ground floor, VERY quiet unit facing a narrow closed in alleyway and highly private. The tall Royal palm trees and other greenery with two padded chairs and a small round table created an Oasis. The room still featured a Keurig coffee maker, small safe, closet (well, kind of with a screen on a pull chord to hide the clothes, an ironing board and iron. The bed was very comfy, shower good despite the fact you have to kind of squeeze into it, and our 1st fl room (117) was surprisingly quiet. We found the service kind and efficient and check in was welcoming. For for my IGH Ambassador Spire Elite status all we got was a couple of free waters. This is one thing IHG must change (breakfast needs to be a standard perk like Hyatt and Marriott top status) Would we stay here again? With the right room, absolutely. But it didn’t blow us away so other nearby hotels may be more tempting.

We chose the Indigo primarily for its location, and it didn't disappoint. It's just a couple of blocks from the wharf, and there are multiple tasting rooms within a few minutes' walk. It's a few hundred feet from the train station (which currently offers plenty of free parking). The main shopping/dining area of State Street is maybe a 10 minute walk away as well.

The most notable part of the stay was unfortunately the negative one, which was the extremely small room. It was too small for even a closet, having just an alcove with drawers on the bottom, a rod and hangers (hidden by a curtain) on the top, and the room safe and Keurig coffee maker atop the drawers. The decent coffee was marred by the powdered creamer. The bathroom was too small for a real shower - it just had a drain in the floor with a curtain to pull around it. We had a fully enclosed patio (no view of anything), which was a very pleasant place to spend the evening enjoying one of our bottles of wine.

Staff was friendly enough. If you're going wine tasting, ask for coupons! They are not offering late checkout, even with status, due to the additional cleaning time. I was disappointed that our anniversary was not acknowledged, though I'd included it in our reservation.

First off after reading several reviews and finding that there is no elevator I called and spoke to Kelsey and explained that I am a disabled Vet and need to have a first-floor room because of injuries that make climbing stairs difficult, she asked if I could hold and she would check on the dates I would be in town, she told me that they had one and changed my room, she is very polite and takes care of customers. We arrive at around 8:00 PM and was greeted by Issac, we asked about restaurants in the area he was more than happy to assist. My room was very nice and the patio was a nice place to relax. As other reviews have said the rooms are on the small side but I don't need a dance floor, just a place to lay my head after a day at the beach. Great job to Kelsey and Issac. Oh yes the train station is next door and I know the train leaves the station around 0600, They blew the horn but I did not hear it.

Great location, great hotel. Although the rooms were small, they were well laid out to where we never felt cramped. Beautiful bathroom and the patio was a nice amenity. We will definitely be using the hotel again for our next SB trip!

For a location as ideal as the Riviera’s, near the train station, Funk Zone, and the beach, not much is to be taken away from this hotel. While my stay was brief, one night, I was left feeling as if I overpaid for a “Double Tree.” Not that it’s asking for too much, but the lack of accommodation and attentiveness was the largest factor in this review. If I am paying a dog fee, could you offer more; dog pads or bowls? If coffee pods are offered in every room, could you offer water bottles in the rooms too; even if it’s an incidental fee, your Funk Zone clients will appreciate it past 11pm, when the hotel market is closed. Since you do not have a working elevator, a polite offer to bring up luggage is appreciated. The saving grace, other than location, was the Mexican restaurant below, but unfortunately, the small rooms and other factors do not balance out.

Small room for a single thin individual. Do not buy a room if you’re anywhere near 300lbs, as the shower space is inadequate & you will have no where to move in your room. Bring earplugs to sleep. Be aware that it’s $70 for vallet to move your car 10 feet. And don’t mistake the tiny parking lot next to the hotel for extra parking.

You would need to do that yourself. The hotel is next to the Santa Barbara Amtrak Train Station. You might google Santa Barbara Airport shuttles and there is a list of taxi and shuttle companies phone numbers.
