Inn by the Harbor is often celebrated for its cozy and welcoming ambiance, despite some areas appearing dated. The hotel's cleanliness receives consistent accolades, with particular mention of the spotless rooms and common areas. Its location is a hit for its beach proximity and easy access to attractions, despite isolated criticism. Amenities such as complimentary bike use, wine tastings, and an inviting pool area contribute to the hotel's value, though room sizes can be snug. Guests commend the attentive and friendly staff, which complements the hotel's comfortable, though occasionally outdated, rooms.

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night on our trip down the WCH to Los Angeles and could not fault anything at all! The location was very close to the sea and downtown Santa Barbara but was also very quiet and peaceful. The room was very well equipped with a dedicated, fully equipped kitchen area including fridge, cooker, toaster, coffee machine, and it was all spotless. The Staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble for them.Upon arrival, we asked to swap our 'booked' high level room to a ground level room and they were so happy to do this for us with no fuss at all. The breakfast was very nice with a varied choice. We were left totally alone but anything you needed, you just had to ask. We would recommend this hotel to anyone either passing through or staying in beautiful Santa Barbara. Thank you.

Having driven 5 hours from Monterey it was lovely to be greeted with a warm welcome from Frank on reception and the other guests who were enjoying complimentary cheese and wine ( which is on offer every evening along with milk and cookies and breakfast). In all the lovely hotels we have stayed on our CA road trip this was the most special. From perfect location for visiting Santa Barbara to the lovely rooms that opened up onto the lovely gardens to the staff who really couldn’t help you enough especially Frank who constantly went out of his way to help everyone of his guests. No wonder there are guests who have been visiting year after year. Thank you Frank and everyone at the hotel for making our stay so memorable. We will definitely be back and for longer next time .

Our family of 5 (2 adults and 3 littles) enjoyed our stay in a Queen suite with a kitchen.

Some pluses of this hotel are:
*The room was large and our room had a kitchen. With a family with little kids, it is always nice to have a refrigerator, microwave and sink with hot water. There was also a little table and chairs.
*All of the staff was so incredibly friendly. The friendliness and service was far better than I have seen even at 4 star hotels.
*A continental breakfast, wine and cheese hour and cookies and milk in the evenings were a nice touch and we enjoyed.
* The pool was closed during our stay, but the option to use the pool at their sister hotel was an option that we used.
*The parking and WiFi we’re free and there is no extra resort fee.

The rooms are dated and look tired. The wall color is really dark, so even with adequate windows it still seems dark. While I appreciated the option of a kitchen space, it does not appear to have been upgraded in 30-40 years.

If you’re looking for a hotel with easy beach access or more of a luxury feel, this isn’t your hotel. But this is a great budget hotel option that includes many extra amenities at this price point.

Good price for the location especially since they include breakfast and parking. Great modified COVID19 pandemic breakfast. Sack lunch style with cereal, milk, oj yogurt, granola bar & apple. Landscaping in the courtyard is impeccable. If they updated the rooms (particularly the bathroom & kitchen) they could certainly charge a bit more.

This place is fantastic! We turned up very early and we were checked in and given our room early by the most helpful gentleman, who took time to explain where everything was in Santa Barbara. Our room was great, clean and had everything we needed. I could have cooked a 3 course meal in the kitchen! The welcome bottle of bubbly was a lovely touch.
We enjoyed the happy hour in the early evening and the breakfast the following morning would put some big hotels to shame.
The local restaurant list was helpful too.
We would definitely stay again.

Our family of six adults loved our stay at Inn by the Harbor. To begin with, it's a lovely inn with a vintage feel - very clean and comfortable. All of the rooms look on a courtyard with beautiful gardens at one end and a pool/spa at the other. Every day, we enjoyed a top notch continental breakfast, afternoon wine and cheese bar, and evening cookies and milk. But its the staff that makes this place truly special - every one is friendly and absolutely dedicated to going above and beyond to help in any way they can. We would definitely stay here again - highly recommended!!!

Inn by the Harbour got 5 stars, which is saying something considering we spent 1 night (instead of 2) during the lockdown.

Frank was on reception and he was simply amazing!! He was apologetic that the facilities were closed-including the pool. He was knowledgeable and informative and a really nice guy.

We were given a beautifully spacious room overlooking the pool, which included a kitchenette and dining area.

The hotel itself was close to amenities and was a beautiful short walk to the pier and promenade. The silence at night was only disrupted by the crickets in the distance.

We were feeling low as our holiday (to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary) was being cut short but we definitely ended our trip on a high.

Can't thank Inn at the Harbour and especially Frank for the kind and warm welcome. Not only would we highly recommend the hotel but we cant wait to return and have a 'do over'.

This place is first and foremost clean and safe. Renting a home in Santa Barbara is expensive right now but this inn did the trick. Our room had a full kitchen and we were provided with breakfast stuff plus there’s a market very close by. Parking was free and our room opens onto a breezeway. We didn’t overlap with any guests or staff. The pool in the courtyard was empty. We could walk to a not crowded beach. The decor is older but comfortable. Overall a great value and great stay for our family.

I've struggled with writing a fair review of this hotel/motel. The desk clerks are delightfully friendly and helpful, the pool area is carefully landscaped and the harbor is a short walk away. A sprightly fish statute spouting water graces the entranceway. However, similar to putting lipstick on a pig, none of these bubbles and babbles compensates for the fact that it is barely above a Motel 6, with a room rate that exceeds lovely hotels I've enjoyed in far more expensive areas. The rooms are very outdated and dark. We shared a bathroom with thousands of persistent little ants who played on our toothbrushes and other items left on the small bathroom sink and shelf. The bathroom itself is quite small and also outdated with historical dirt parked in several crevices. Overall, it is clear that the owners are making an effort, but it is marginal compared to the changes necessary to justify a $300 nightly rate. As for the lovely desk clerks? Any other hotel would be fortunate to have them as employees.

We selected this hotel for the full size kitchen and inviting pool. The hotel staff is very accommodating and helpful. I enjoyed having breakfast bags delivered to the room, milk, juice, granola bar, yoplai yogurt, apple, and cereal. In addition, we had a chilled champagne bottle waiting for us in the refrigerator.
The cons: we had noisy neighbors that stayed until 11 pm, drinking and smoking pot in the parking lot below our room. Security was called broke up the party. I understand we are in vacay but guest should be mindful of their neighbors.
I would recommend this hotel because having a full kitchen makes vacation much more easier and there’s no need to go out to a crowded restaurant for breakfast or purchase overpriced drinks at bars. Another, plus was the warm pool and most guest kept their social distance.
