We were arriving late and moving on so only wanted something cheap and cheerful. Not entirely sure it fit the bill of either. This is motel accommodation and is at the lower end of the price bracket for Santa Barbara which still means it is pricey for what you get. The rooms are very tired. Clean yes and a good large TV but no AC and strange in wall set heat and a large portable fan. Fridge under sink counter. Our room was set at a strange angle and had a small triangle balcony. I swear the room next door had a large window onto the balcony (no access) but not exactly private for either.
Breakfast is continental buffet which is fine but not enough tables for the number of guests and all quite cramped. Paper plates and plastic cups and cutlery. Fresh fruit and pastry selection was good but no labels to know what they were. Two women sitting in what looked like a cupboard, but guess was the prep area, just seemed to sit and chat the entire time we were there (having waited for soemwhere to sit).
Have to say best selection of tourist info I have seen around California so thats a plus.
We ate dinner next door at Convivo which we can recommend.
The location of this place is good opposite the beach but I wouldnt want to stay for more than one or two nights

This Inn is set between two grand hotels. The guy on reception was very nice and friendly. We had a room overlooking the ocean and road. The furniture in the room was quite dated, the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was ok but again dated. The vanity basin was outside the bathroom which was a bit odd as the mini fridge was under the counter top of the basin unit. Large verandah outside our room which was nice. Did not sleep too well as the hotel next door had a party and it did not end until about 2am. All in all was fine for a one night stay. Breakfast was self service, not much selection and you had to use disposable plates, cups and cutlery. Safe off road free parking was available.

My wife and I went up to Santa Barbara just for the night and stayed ant this quaint little place 1 block away from the beach. Most of the hotels and restaurants are pretty close to the beach but this place seemed to be more special. It was easy to reserve a room and easy to check in. We were in walking distance from the wharf and most restaurants (it's a small place in the downtown area)

If you want to see what a 90’s motel six looks like in 2021, after years of crack heads staying in it; you’ll love this place. $100 room with a $250 dollar hold on your card because they want to keep the crack heads out but don’t want to do anything else. For $20 more you can stay at a decent hotel and they won’t put a $250 hold on your card. Unless your really nostalgic and don’t care about stained walls and and sleeping on a 30 year old bed, don’t ever, ever, stay here. Please learn from my mistake.

Cabrillo Inn is next to the Santa Barbara Inn. It is a night and day experience when you walk through both. Granted the Santa Barbara Inn is more upscale and costs more, but to charge the rates that Cabrillo Inn charges for being next to the Santa Barbara Inn and to also be across the street from the ocean isn’t realistic. Cabrillo Inn isn’t “retro” or “vintage.” It’s old, in disrepair, and severely over-priced. The carpets are significantly stained. It makes a Motel 6 look luxurious. They may have updated their showers but that’s it. They use Covid to avoid re-opening their room for breakfast and the room itself is full of junk. As cheap as they are in running the place, I can’t imagine what a complimentary breakfast would look or taste like. There is crap stacked throughout the complex. It was embarrassing to recommend this place to friends that were also attending the same wedding in SB. While the Cabrillo Inn looks good on the outside, it’s clear that this family-owned business is mining what they can to get the most revenue from their rates for themselves, especially on the weekend, rather than to truly invest in making it a suitable and reasonably priced location to stay in SB. Will we return? Never. The only way this place will improve is to select other locations instead of the Cabrillo Inn.

Tired from searching through hotel ad's my family & I (wife & infant) stumbled upon this place late in the evening...Staff was courteous and friendly throughout our impromptu 3 night stay. No complaints whatsoever... Would highly recommend as a much more affordable SB option on the beach with some restaurants within walking distance. I'll be staying here again!!!

Steve at the front desk was 5 Star!

It was surprise from the beginning of our stay. We booked the room with ocean view and I realized that pictures in the hotel website for Standard rooms with the ocean view are for the Deluxe room with ocean view. They tried to settle us to the first floor without ocean view from the room, finally we got the Deluxe room as it is in the site picture. Then, first time I travel in US I didn't find a coffee maker, hair dryer, safe (it was a note that hotel's administration is not responsible for the guest's belongings) and air conditioner in the room. There is no breakfast provided, and to buy coffee we wen to the nearest hotel. The prices to stay in the hotel are overpriced for the service provided. I don't recommend this hotel to anybody and I am not going to return to it myself. I hardly can tell that it is a hotel, looks like motel, but even in the motels in US there are a coffee maker, hair dryer, air conditioner and breakfast are provided. I stayed in motel in Wyoming, because there was not hotels nearby, and service there was much better.

The only good thing about this motel is the location. Everything else is terrible. In the first room we had, ants were crawling up the wall in the bathroom, they were coming from the peeled wallpaper by the floor. The second room was not much better. We wanted to leave but we could not get our money back. The carpet was disgusting, the furniture was old and dirty. We would not put our clothes in the dress or use the night table because the drawers were so dirty in the inside. The bath room had a tub with a shower door but the bottom of the door was not attached to the frame so it moved every time it was touched. The first time in the shower I almost fell because I used the door as support to get out of the tub and of course, there is none. The door to the outside was flimsy and it only had a lock on the doorknob. They also do not seem to believe in customer service. The person who worked the desk was rude and seemed bothered if you asked a question. Finally, they do not have coffee in the room or at the front desk area. They tell you to go to the hotel next door to get coffee.

We were very disappointed. It appears that the owners never renovated the rooms. I guess because they have such a good location, they don’t have too….shame on them!! This pictures of the hotel must be dated…they do not match what we saw. DO NOT STAY AT THIS MOTEL.

I have never written a review before and often try to help small businesses like this inn but STAY AWAY.

Pay the extra $50 and go elsewhere! Look outside of SB for better options.

I was hoping to travel to Santa Barbara on a budget and booked the wrong night at Cabrillo. When I called to rectify the booking the owner still charged me for the wrong night and was INCREDIBLY rude. If you are spending the money to take a trip pay the extra to go somewhere else. You may try to save going here but you get what you pay for!

Easy to find, easy to park. Check in went well, Our 1st floor Ocean View room was a delight. Certainly worth the upgrade from no view or pool view. Lack or on site breakfast or coffee was the only lack. Loved being able to go to sleep to the sound of the waves.
Couldn't have been closer to the beach. There was a pedestrian crosswalk right at the corner of the property and cars were always quick to stop. The beach and weather were such a delight we extended our stay another day. Moved upstairs and the view was even better. Could even see the sand from our patio.
Planning our next stay in September. Figure we'll visit 2 or 3 times a year from now on.
