This was a quaint hotel right off State Street in Santa Barbara. I loved the location. The bed was comfortable and the room was pretty dark at night. There were a couple of drawbacks to the hotel. It is an old building and so some creaks and noises should be expected, but I could hear ever step taken in the room above me at night. I also recommend putting a towel under the door as the hallway light is pretty right in the room. These are reasons why I gave it a 4 instead of a 5. If I stayed again, I would probably stay on the top floor and the noise problem would probably go away. The only other bummer was that there was no breakfast buffet. But right out side the door is State Street so no big deal.
The Holiday Inn Express St Barbara is strategically located closed to the beach as well as the city center. Service here is excellent and friendly as well. Breakfast was decent for express hotels. Rooms wise is ok and shower was the best. Though our room is facing the main road, noise was not a problem for us. Overall a nice experience with excellent front office team!.
I want to rate the service Nate the valet guy. He was so helpful from grabbing our bags from our car to taking them to our room and unpacking them. He was such a gentleman I hope I am speaking his name correctly he’s one of the newest guy their he advise
Arrived in the late afternoon where we were warmly greeted by the valets, Joseph and Jose Luis. After discussing the parking with them, I decided to park on the street just across from the hotel entrance at a savings as I had 2 cars. The hotel itself is newly renovated maintaining the Santa Barbara architecture. The location is great being an easy walking distance to the pier, restaurants and shopping. The atmosphere is very pleasant and relaxing compared to SF and LA. I plan to stay here again in the near future.
First and foremost not the most extravagant hotel. Smaller rooms and minimal accommodations but the service was stellar. The front desk personnel were both kind and accommodating. We stayed there for the Santa Barbara half marathon and they made the hotel a great experience from check in to check out. Special shout out to Jay who wore several hats and didn’t miss a beat. Also Andrew who kept us undated on our room availability with options we could have had. If you are looking for great service and an enjoyable stay, I recommend the Virginia. I also you can’t beat the location. Walking distance from everything!
Just remodeled in a style that reminded us, of the Morrocan style and tile, of The Californian but way cheaper. We missed the pool and the larger rooms and lobby but the hotel staff were just as amazing, courteous and attentive as the above mentioned which was more than twice the nightly rate. Particular shout out to the Valet’s Joseph and Alexander who always saw us and helped us with anything we needed in the car, getting the car, helping with luggage and always making us feel that our every need would be attended to. We’ll be back. Thanks!
This hotel newly purchased by Hilton Hotels is a beautiful Spanish architecture in downtown Santa Barba, California. It was built in 1916 and restored a number of times to keep it beautiful and wonderfully functional! The service at the desk (Rose) is exceptional and valet service is also EXCEPTIONAL. With Andy, Alex and the other valet gentlemen we received such superb and very helpful service. The surroundings were perfect with yummy restraunts and convenient shopping Thank you to all the staff at Hotel Virginia Santa Barbara...Hilton Hotels!!!
The room we were given was tiny. King sized bed took up 90% of the room. Only one chair to sit in. We had ants, and though reported, not spray or clean up occurred. Nothing like brushing an ant off your face in the middle of the night. The other main issue was someone else’s hair in the bathroom. There from day 1, and there on day 2. The hotel is, I guess, a boutique thing from Hilton. But the breakfast looked like something from a Hampton Inn, but you had to pay for anything. $7.50 latte - no thanks. The room was on a busy road, and revelers revving up and down the street was so fun at 1am (they can’t control that…) The only nice thing was proximity to State St and the shore
Location was convenient for the event I was attending. Plenty of places to eat along State Street. Hotel was recently renovated, so the rooms were clean and bright, but expensive. TV sucked, not many channels and kept going off-line, so maintenance came three times in 2-days. Valet parking was great since there is limited parking available. What the called the restaurant was not available during daytime hours. Clerks at front desk were nice.
Jack B and Joseph A in the valet were always attentive and friendly. We stayed for 3 nights and any time we were out and coming back they were quick to help or ask how our day was. Thanks for the kindness.
