A beautiful, modern aesthetic is hiding behind these unassuming walls! Friendly service from the owners and a comfortable room all the way around. Parking is a little lacking but they do have an agreement with the business next door. We absolutely would stay here again!
A great place; super welcoming incredibly clean rooms with nice character. Plenty of space and in a good location. Lots of options for meals etc nearby. A really pleasant experience and great value for money. Thoroughly recommended.
I would definitely recommend staying here at the Agave. Parking is easy adn the rooms are cheap and cheerful. In keeping with the charm of Santa Barbara. The lady checking us in was also lovely. We had been at 3 other hotels beforehand and she was very welcoming compared to the other ones. Nice location with eateries around - would recommend the Crocodile Restaurant - 5 mins walk
My husband and I had a very nice stay at this adorable little place. It was clean and comfortable as well as affordable for Santa Barbara. The surrounding area is great as well with good restaurants and lounges. We'll definitely be back.
We loved our stay at the Agave. This small family owned hotel maintains the charm of old Santa Barbara. It’s conveniently located on State Street. These affordable rooms were renovated, super clean, and had a refrigerator, microwave, and hot water kettle. The friendly staff was accommodating to our request for an early check-in and texted me when the room was ready. Will stay here again when in SB!
Friendly helpful owner and staff. Clean and modern but retaining its uniqueness. I used Lyft but with a car beach is only 10 minutes away. Definitely have dinner at Arroyo Burro Beach. Some street noise but hard to avoid that in Santa Barbara. No breakfast but Starbucks 5 minute walk. Shopping plaza with groceries and restaurant 2 minute walk.
I chose this place because it was the cheapest option for that night (their own website was actually cheaper than the apps) but it was so much better than my expectation. The room was very clean but also well decorated and pleasant to be in. The air was fresh and the room was bright and breezy. Had an electric kettle, tea, instant coffee, and all the appliances other than a coffee maker (which is way more than what you get in most Santa Barbara motels). A bit of road noise from State St but nothing bothersome. Liked the front desk people. I had such a good experience, regret staying at other places in previous trips.
Sta Barb pricey at best—weekends especially. We were fine w overnight here. Rooms small, spartan, clean, basic, comfortable. Affable and helpful owner. Super Italian resto within two or three blocks. Recommend.
I rented this room for my nephew as my house was full of other relatives. So I asked him for a review of his stay. Like me, he doesn't spend much time a motel room when traveling. So, the three primary criteria are: 1) Was it clean? It was. 2) Was the bed comfortable? It was. 3) Was there decent water pressure in the shower. There was, in fact he said the bathroom was great. I looked in briefly and can confirm that it's clean. The rooms on the first floor are small if that is important to you. I talked to someone who stayed upstairs in a two queen bed room and apparently those are more spacious. I can add that the location is excellent. I live in the neighborhood, so I am a little biased. Within a block there are: a very good Italian restaurant (Via Maestra 42), a classic breakfast/lunch diner (Farmer Boy), a very good high end grocery (Gelson's), and an excellent independent bookstore (Chaucer's). For discount shopping, Trader Joe's is a short walk; a Grocery Outlet a little farther. There is a Starbucks nearby, though I would urge you to walk a little farther to Vices & Spices, The Daily Grind, or Handlebar--all excellent local coffee shops. There are quite a few motels in the area. I ride my bike by them early in the morning and the Agave Inn is usually the first to light up the "no vacancy" sign. There aren't many rooms and it is the most highly rated in the area. So book early.…
We stayed here for the weekend and enjoyed it very much. Clean rooms, located close to everything. We'll be staying here again when we make it back up to Santa Barbara! Also, keep an eye out for the googly-eyes! :^D
