I ran a 25 person business meeting here and it was perfect. The staff were attentive and very helpful. Scott, Brigette, Griff, Michael, Juliette, Patrick and Danielle took great care of us all week long. The food was fantastic... fresh, locally sourced and catered to our specific needs. We had two evening events poolside, including a team event, and it...

We loved this boutique hotel in Santa Cruz. It’s an update on the traditional motel room with contemporary accommodations. In other words: a hipster Holiday Inn. The lobby has wannabe contemporary art and books. Some of the books were real. Room and bathrooms are small but manageable. Inside the bathroom is a tiny closet to hang clothing and a safe....

Very helpful staff - from the help desk to the shuttle driver (they will take you around town for free within a couple of miles). Room has a large King bed, easy work station, flat screen and a GREAT bathroom. Love the bath products, pebble floor shower, etc.

I stayed at this hotel as a matter of convenience since the party I was meeting up with for business was also staying there. Knowing that the rate was $325+ per night I was expecting a higher-end property closer to the beach or with some other appealing views. Boy was I disappointed when I pulled in. It looked like they...

Dear Jason H, Thank you for your recent visit and review. I am sorry to hear that both the location and design of the hotel fell short of your expectations. While many reviewers have thought our location to be central; a ten minute walk to downtown and 25 minutes to the beach and boardwalk, or a short ride in our...

Decided to check out the Paradox this time. Normally we stay at another property every time we visit Santa Cruz. Loved the cool lobby- aesthetically pleasing. The pool area was fun and had a great vibe- cabanas, pool bar, and lounge seating, a ping pong table, giant Jenga blocks for the kids... The rooms were comfortable, well appointed, and had...

Impeccable customer service; they treat guests more like a neighbor than a commodity. Tasteful, subtle, modern contemporary beach decor. Nice pool area with deck side dining. Shuttle service within three mile perimeter makes getting to beach easy! The layout is clearly an older style Holiday Inn layout however it lends itself nicely to a cleaner, modern design.

You'll want time to enjoy actually being at the Paradox. They know they have to work hard to make up for not having the beach-front location and to my mind they (mostly) succeed. The pool is a California dream. It gets plenty of sun and cool breezes. There are heat lamps, fire pits, loungers and cabanas for no extra charge....

This is definitely one of the nicer hotels in Santa Cruz. I thought it would be closer to the boardwalk but found out that they had free shuttle service so it even saved us from an Uber. Very nice upgraded interiors, staff was extremely helpful and kind, and awesome restaurant. If you want something a few steps above the crappy...

My husband and I spent our 1-year anniversary here! Let me start off by saying I loved the interior design of the hotel. The lobby was beautiful and the pool area was as trendy as the photos. Dear Annie L, Thank you for your review and for choosing to celebrate your anniversary with us. This was a motel conversion and it showed. I know a lot of places are doing these conversions but unless the lay out is completely changed then they still cannot escape their motel roots. Because the windows face the halls there is no privacy if the curtains are open which is the only way to allow natural light into the...
