There is definitely some favoritism to which is the "top" Santa Monica hotel but Shutters has delivered well over a few stays at the property. Prime beachside location with a cool beach house vibe can't be beat. It's not a massive property so the restaurants can be crowded and are popular with locals. The Living Room & terrace overlooking the...

What a fantastic looking hotel from the outside and hopes were high for what was inside the hotel! We weren't disappointed at all! The beach on your door step, bike to ride along the boardwalk, open wood fires burning in the lobby! The staff were so friendly from checkin to checkout. The roof top pool was a hit with the...

Great location. Easy access to surrounding areas. Fabulous accommodation on all fronts. Very friendly and helpful staff. Unforgettable views of the sunrise and sunset from the ocean front rooms. Expensive but worth the indulgence.

Our family has been enjoying Shutters for years. Although pricey, you will look long and far to find a better hospitality experience. Experienced and friendly staff knows your name and how to make you feel special. Rooms are tight but hotel proximity to beach and boardwalk are hard to beat. A great bar for casual relaxing or meeting friends. Spa...

Hospitality was extraordinary and room with a view and I only included the ocean like great people watching as families, families with pets, families with children and both young and old couples strolled along the beautiful Shoreline. Staff was remarkably committed and well prepared for any circumstance.

Wow - Excellent may be the only word to describe this place. From the moment you enter, you'll feel as if you're a private guest at someone's beachfront estate. Friendly staff at the front desk will greet you - same in the bars and restaurants. Even a house car to drive you to locations nearby. It's right on the beach...

Love this hotel! Every time we get out to LA we stay here. They really spoil you here. It is very expensive but well worth it. All of the employees go overboard to help you and do extra things for you. The food, the pool, the location, the beds, the bath tubs, everything is fabulous!

This is our favorite destination for an impromptu beach day. The hotel itself is located right on the edge of the sandy beach and is lovely and cozy. The rooftop pool is always fun with great pool side service. The food is good and hotel website has the menus. The two restaurants do get busy during the weekend and hard...

Absolutely loved this Hotel. Felt like my own personal beach house! Great food, service, and room! Beautiful views! The room service staff and even the valets were extreme professional and courteous. A mini vacation while in LA for business

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
