We had expected this to be the highlight of our California road trip - given we were paying €800+ per night and the ratings we had seen before we booked. Ouch! I have never encountered a less motivated and unenthusiastic bunch of staff. The concierge function, in particular, had seemingly no interest whatsoever in helping guests - either pre-arrival or...

The hotel itself is beautifully decoratedl. The location is great but for the amount of the rooms (almost $800 / night with all taxes ect), we didn't feel we should be "nickel and dimed' for internet and parking. Our room was extremely damp. I'm not sure that is true for all the rooms. One Pico restaurant is over priced and...

On our check-in the couple next to us were told Welcome we are happy to check you in early as your room was ready. He proceeded to tell them the exact room as ours was ready. We were not so lucky and were told they would call us when it was. 4 hours later we had heard nothing so we...

Dear Mz_Jd, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your room did not meet your expectations, however, the room category you booked (Superior Room) is the type you received. When possible, we always try and allow for early check-ins, as was the case with the guests you described next to you. We would be happy...

Stayed at this hotel for a weekend getaway. The room that I was assigned to was right by the street and because of the noise from ppl on the street and from a machine (generator?), I was awake at 5 am. I request for a new room. The second night was quiet till 3 am. At 3am, the fire alarm...

Dear JC4216, Thank you for joining us on the beach and sharing your comments. My sincerest apologies for the fire alarm. Although the source of the alarm was investigated and determined to be non-life threatening, it did function as it is required to by the fire code. I certainly understand how frustrating interrupted sleep can be. Obviously I wish I...

The location was superb and the staff excellent. The house car (tesla) was a lot of fun! The cocktails at the bar were great but.... there was a lot of construction. Ignoring the construction, it can only be described Fred Perry's Beach House.

Very nice property with fine rooms and amenities. Amazing view within walking distance of the Pacific Ocean. Service was 5 Star, restaurants on site excellent too. Located right on boardwalk in Santa Monica. Valet is pricy at $40, but they have their own Tesla for short jaunts by staff. No car needed. This property has been updated, and it shows.

My family of 4 spent 5 nights at Shutters at the start of our California road trip. It is right on the beach not far from the pier. We used all the facilities, the pool deck, the bikes, the house car, and we ate at both Coast and One Pico. The pool deck was great, a relaxing haven after a...

I stayed with my 12 year old goddaughter 6/23-6/25 in room #621 (full ocean view w/2 double beds). I had wanted to stay at this property for some time, however, after reviewing recent reviews on this site I was a little concerned. Would the cost of $800+ a night be worth it? I'm not wealthy, just a regular working person...

Overpriced, tired, needs updating, the GM needs to do some staff training, slow service from reception check in to collection of bags in room, Swimming Pool is noisy and over a road, the staff use this as a cut through to take laundry trollies. $40 parking, ridiculous, you can park on the street from 6pm to 9am for free. Better...

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
