Unfortunately this hotel puts too much emphasis on its historic architecture and decor - and is severely lacking in the quality of lodgings and service. Someone else’s hair found in the tiny bathroom, an uncomfortable mattress, and loud lobby music waking us up at 7am were among the many features that could be improved upon.
The Palihouse is the perfect location in Santa Monica. Residential and quiet, close to the beach and lots of scenic walking trails, and it's very pet friendly. They welcomed me + my puppy with open arms and set up a bed, bowls, treats, toy, and hand written note in our room. The stay is so friendly + helpful. The grounds are beautiful + serine. The coffee bar in the lobby makes the best cup of coffee! I can't wait to return.
We stayed in December 2020. The hotel is beautiful and the atmosphere was very relaxing. The hotel went above and beyond ensuring Covid 19 safety. This hotel will forever be our new place while in Los Angeles
This is a classic example of a concept hotel. Great concept but misses the delivery. From the fact that it’s hard to find after dark because they are too cool to have a sign outside, instead preferring to keep the old sign. Having driven up and down third we called the front desk and ask for directions. “Look for a sign called The Embassy” he said. “So the sign for The Palihouse Hotel is actually a sign for The Embaasy?” I asked. “Exactly” was the response. Style over substance. Step inside and the place just feels like it has seen better days. Poor lighting, carpets that look grimy and a lingering smell of times gone by. The same goes for the heating and air conditioning. Clearly this was a cheap refurb not a thorough make-over. Given the extreme CV lockdowns in LA we didn’t expect any Food & Beverage service, but were flabbergasted to learn that even if you order in you have to eat in your room. Apparently the lounge area is only for talking in! And given the current circumstances you’d think management would have arranged with some local restaurants to provide take-out. No such forethought or creative thinking. Ask for recommendations on take out or delivery and their answer is UberEats or Grub Hub. We have stayed in Santa Monica many times. We thought we’d try somewhere new. Big mistake. We checked out early and won’t be returning, there are just too many other hotels in the area that are cool AND deliver a world class experience.…
A couple of blocks from the beach, this Deco, suave and charming hotel, has the best comforts (bed and showers for one) united with decor and location. The size is perfect and staff ultra courteous! super recommend !!
