I enjoyed my stay at the Hotel California. It is in a convenient location, and the staff was great. My room was clean, but the heat/furnace definitely needs to be updated. It is difficult to turn on and off (you have to manually do it), and it would be pretty cold in the mornings (I stayed in February). Otherwise, I...

Hotel California is a very cozy hotel with a very friendly staff on a great location. The hotel is totally different from the major mainstream hotels down the road. We stayed a family of four in a spacious two room family room with a small balcony. The room was away from the street and real close to the beach. We...

This vintage 1948 hotel offers great rates for this pricey area--considering its steps-from-the-beach location, very near the bustling Santa Monica Pier. A charming garden path leads down steps to the beachfront. Our second floor, street-view room was quite small, but was sooo Rt. 66--decorated with fun surfing and movie memorabilia. The bath was small and lacked a vent, but had...

I enjoyed my stay here. The staff were always friendly, the hotel was very pretty, and close to the beach. There's free tea and coffee, and hot chocolate, in the foyer at all times, and fruit too (bananas every say I was there). There's no breakfast. There are many pretty outdoor seating areas, and you may well see a hummingbird.

Our stay at The Hotel California was fantastic, It is so nice to see a little bit of yesteryear being preserved with the Surfboard bed heads and guitars on the walls adding a really cool touch. A big thanks to Carter & Kurtis for their warm welcome and sharing of knowledge on all things local especially a couple of nearby...

We are so ecstatic that you loved The Hotel California! A major goal of ours is to keep the beach, and nostalgic LA vibe. A lot of that has been lost in Los Angeles, but we are on a mission to keep it alive. Our staff (Carter & Kurtis + the others) are dedicated to making each and every guest's...

Booked this in August 2016 via Booking.com and Hotel California promptly took a $300 deposit from my credit card. Less than three weeks before we arrived in January and while we were already travelling they cancelled with not only no apology no explanation after both I and Booking.com asked why? Stressful, expensive and therefore in my opinion unreliable and rude.

Hello yolofifiez, We are quite shocked and concerned to be reading this review. This is not something that has happened at our hotel, and we believe there may be some confusion with a third party booking company, possibly. Reservations not made directly through the hotel are typically under the jurisdiction of the company with which they are booked. It sounds...

If you're looking for a 5 star accommodation, look elsewhere. The place is cool for its relation to the Eagles song and for the cool memorabilia throughout. But the place is very old. There is no central heat and air. And it's cramped- especially the bathroom. The concrete has definitely shifted on the stairs and floors- not level. There is...

We loved our stay at The Hotel California! Sure it's a little tired (it's original and that's it's charm) and can be a bit noisy, but it's in a prime location, all the staff are absolutely fabulous, the beds are comfy and nothing was too much trouble for the office guys. I'd had issues with the booking from an external...

Thanks so much for the stellar review, we really appreciate it! You're right, it is a shame that you couldn't hang out with us longer. There's always something new to discover the longer you stay at Hotel Cali. I'm sure you could use a few more night's sleep in one of our premium Beautyrest beds as well ;) Definitely don't...

The place was actually pretty cool! The only part that was horrible was parking, and the attendant (Lewis from the Revenge of the Nerds) did not help us like he helped these others then came in after us! We had to park down the street in a parking garage which was actually more secure and cheaper than what they were...

I just finished a two night stay here. It was really nice. I was in room 21. The bed was ridiculously comfortable and soft. The pillows were incredible. If it wasn't for the jetlag, I would've slept like a log! The shower took a very long time to come to temp but other than that room was spot on. Some...

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
