In the middle of a pandemic we decided to get out of our house for a few days and go a few miles away to the gorgeous Hotel Casa del Mar in Santa Monica for a summer staycation. Recently reopened, the staff could not have been more gracious, friendly and helpful to our every need. They were also very appreciative that we chose their hotel to come to.
They were extremely mindful of keeping everything clean and sanitized and we felt safe the entire time we were there. The rooms were spotless and very luxurious with views of the ocean. Although everyone kept their face coverings on the whole time we still could feel their smiles underneath!
They figured out a way to move their restaurant (that is normally inside) to their beautiful outside patio so we were able to safely eat the delicious meals in safety and comfort outside as they followed all the CDC safety rules and recommendations and then some. During the day we would order lunch to go and they would pack it all up for us so we could enjoy it while on the beach.
Even thought we were only a few minutes from our home we did feel like we were on a true vacation far from home. Although I was at first worried that it would feel weird to be there during this time with everyone wearing masks - it wasn't at all. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and highly recommend it. We plan to go back again and again.

We were so grateful to have Lauren take care of us when we arrived. Unfortunately, we had an AirBnB cancel on us at the last minute when we arrived in Santa Monica. Lauren was gracious and helped us to get situated in a lovely room overlooking the pier.
We were provided two complimentary drink tickets, and there was complimentary water in the room as well.
Our bell person escorted us to the room and explained all the amenities.
The bed was like a cocoon of pillows and blankets. The room itself was tastefully decorated and offered beautiful views of the beach and pier.
The room service was delicious! The bacon was some of the best that I have ever had. They do offer a Keurig coffee machine in the room.
The bath was one of our favorite parts! It was deep with excellent jets that you could adjust the strength of.
We were blown away by the view from the bar and we thoroughly enjoyed our lamb and octopus at Catch restaurant.
Everything about this hotel was top notch. We will definitely return.

We booked this through American Express, and we were very satisfied with this hotel. Amex gives you a few things, such as free breakfast, late checkout etc., and they honored all of it. Check in was flawless. We arrived a bit before check in time but they were able to get us in without a problem. The valet was accommodating and friendly. We rarely had to wait for our car more than two minutes. The room was overall very nice and they come in every day to clean and freshen up the sheets and towels. Bed and pillows were quite comfortable. Only complaint overall is the shower was a bit small. But it had great water pressure. It was our anniversary, and they sent us an anniversary treat to our room. Because we had free breakfast, we chose to eat at their cafe every day. I loved their yogurt parfait with granola, however, the continental breakfast is a better selection as it comes with a couple pastries and tea/coffee/juice for a couple dollars more. The area does have a large homeless population, and I noticed extra security in the area. It is steps from the Santa Monica Pier so there is a decent amount of foot traffic. Great for people watching. It was too chilly to partake in the beach. It was also a great location to be doing "non city" things. We went to the Griffith Observatory, Pacific Coast Highway, Disneyland and Dodgers game. Although the traffic is horrible and there is drive to any of these, we felt the hotel was relatively accessible to all of these. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel.

From the moment we pulled up all the stops were pulled out. Door men to open the doors grab our luggage and took us to get checked in. We were upgraded to a partial ocean view room, which turned out to look across to Pacific Park Pier and the sea, what a wonderful start… we had a child with us and she was gifted with some beach toys, sunglasses and arm bands. We were talked through the amenities and the things that were included complimentary, one of which was the use of the house car from 4pm onwards within a few miles range, this also included a pick up as well. We took advantage of this to go to an in & out burger., also, there is free bike hire for an hour each day, we used a few times and when we went over the fee was wavered. The room, oh my days, the room was lovely, just lovely. Light and airy, decorated in a New England style, just looked and was a relaxing place to be. Big telly which included Netflix (you have to sign in using your own account) Hot tub bath, massive shower, gorgeous bed, it was massive, high standing and so comfy. There were a few comfy chairs for chilling out on. There was complimentary water and coffee which was topped up daily. There is an outdoor heated pool and hot tub with a nice patio are where a server comes round and takes your order or you can use the phone to call for food and drink. There is also water available stored in a nice container of ice and pool towels are provided. The staff we dealt with were all so lovely and friendly, genuinely friendly, couldn’t do enough for you and the food, the food was so good, the breakfast was just the best. We will definitely visit this hotel again and we never go to the same place twice, but we’ll be back here. Thank you all for a wonderful stay, all the best!

The hotel has a look and feel of home but better. From the moment you step in the door you feel relaxed. The beds are very comfortable. The pool overlooks the beach and the best time to be at pool is to watch the sunset. The spa has wonderful services.

I stayed 3 nights here. The location can’t be beat and the hotel and rooms are lovely, but with caveats. The views from both my very pricey rooms faced the street and it was a bit noisy so be aware that probably half of the rooms face pretty active street. There was also a fairly large coffee stain on the rug in my first room which was kind of jarring for a room that all in cost me more than $800 for one night. This room was basically just large enough for a king sized bed.
When checking in I was told it would be 5 minutes for my room to be ready which ended up being about 40 minutes I was told because they were trying to clean a stain on the rug that was “under the bed”. It ended up not being under the bed — far from it. Not sure why the front desk person would say that when I was obviously going to see it. I guess he thought it would be gone. I think they should have offered a discount on it frankly. The desk person did offer me a couple drink vouchers for the wait which was something I guess. I don’t mind waiting for my room to be cleaned, I just hate being lied to about both the stain and the length of time I would need to wait.
Other service mishap—I had switched rooms after the first night (totally planned) —and asked when I checked out of the first room that my bags be placed in the new room when it was ready. I was assured it would happen. I left the hotel around 9 am for the day. At around 2 received a call that my new room was ready and asking if they could move my bags out of my first room to my second. I said “thanks but you have my bags. I was told to check out of the first room so I left the bags at the desk.” The front desk person said “oh there was no note on the reservation.” I said no problem just please put my bags in the new room. Arrived at the hotel about 2 hours later, stopped at the desk to get my new keys and asked “are my bags in the room?” The woman at the desk typed something in the computer looked at it and then looked at me and then said “yes”. I went up to the room — no bags in the room. I called the desk, was put on hold. Finally, the concierge answered and arranged to have the bags sent up.
None of these things are huge enough to ruin my trip for sure — It was a nice stay overall — but were enough to make me feel I probably would not stay again. I will pay for luxury (and this is most definitely priced in the luxe category), but I would expect that for the cost I feel these things should not happen or if they do there needs to be a greater effort at trying to make things right. (I will say the servers at the cafes both by the pool and at the beach level were excellent.)

I stayed at the Casa Del Mar for a business trip. We held a large event in the Colonnade banquet room. The hotel staff and amenities are absolutely magnificent!! The staff was very helpful and ready to assist at any time. The banquet room was comfortable and clean and open to a beautiful terrace with the view of the ocean and Santa Monica Pier. I would recommend it for a corporate event or wedding. The food service for the meeting was delicious and with good quality and quantity of food. The room accommodations were amazing, super clean with a beach decor that makes you feel relaxed and never want to leave. Coffee machine in the room was a plus, as well as the cute rubber ducky in the bathroom. Thought went into the small touches that make the guests feel special. Thank you Casa Del Mar for a memorable stay!

We booked this hotel because of many negative reviews about their sister resort (Shutters) and we were not disappointed. The staff was warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived the hotel. There was a lot of staff and this visit reminded me of pre pandemic hotel stays at a five star hotel.
Jamie at the reception desk was very helpful and she upgraded us and provided drink tickets (worth $40). She also provided other helpful information about the hotel.
The pool isn't large, but we were able to watch a gorgeous sunset from the deck next to the pool. We liked the that the pool isn't on the ground level because there are no issues with homeless. This is a fact of life in Santa Monica and it has been a problem for decades. The hotel is only a short walk from the pier, but it is a little removed from all of the crowds near the pier so it is a little nicer and quieter at this location.
We were also able to walk south along the beach as the hotel is located next to the path that runs south to Venice Beach and north to the Santa Monica Pier and beach.
The room was bright and clean. My only complaint was that the shower is very small. The bathroom is very large so there is no reason that they had to make such a tiny shower.
Every part of the hotel was immaculate and the staff in the restaurants and lobby bar were professional and friendly. This is not an inexpensive hotel, but it felt like it was worth it if you looking for this level of service in a hotel on the ocean.

Casa Del Mar is a gorgeous hotel on the beach that provides a contemporary alternative to SHUTTERS. It is one of my favorite properties in the United States. Our recent stay was made so special by their front desk attendant ANGEL. He was kind, helpful and when a room became available on the pool deck he moved us without us having to check or ask. Our 9 year old had the time of her life!

Located on the beach of Santa Monica, this hotel a "world standard luxury experience" The spacious Lobby offers all day long dine in with concert by the evening The staff is "best in class", and the rooms too ! Toiletries Malin&Goetz, bath slat & candle to relax, iron & Board, press, ... even if you don't offer yourself a "beach view" room, you will enjoy a very pleasant stay. The breakfast is fantastic with view on the beach.
