Situated on 92 acres of vineyards in beautiful Russian River Valley wine country, just 60 miles north of San Francisco, Vintners Resort offers leisure and business travelers alike a central location to relax, rejuvenate and explore and visit Sonoma County’s spectacular vineyard, coastal, and mountain destinations. We have been rated one of the best hotels in Sonoma County.
Star ratings are intended to indicate the general level of features, amenities, and services to expect. This property is classified according to Giata.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
My husband I had a great stay at Vintner’s Resort. It’s a beautiful property with friendly staff, great food, and nice rooms. We were given welcome drinks, cookies with turndown service every night, and they have complimentary wine tastings in the lobby in the early evening. The general location of the resort provides easy access to Healdsburg, the Russian River Valley and Calistoga/Napa. While right near the freeway, we didn’t hear a lot of road noise - they have pretty great natural buffers. I would definitely stay here again - I felt like I got a lot of bang for my buck, considering the prices in fall for other resorts I and around Sonoma/Napa.

What a beautiful resort. The room was large and comfortable. The bathroom was spacious. Everyday we had new towels and the turndown service at night always left delicious cookies on the pillows. We ate breakfast in the restaurant and lite dinners in the bar area. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced. We even took the 1+ mile walking path through the vineyard everyday. The staff went out of there way to make sure all was right. All in all a great location and a great place to stay.

We enjoyed our four night stay here, mainly because of our excellent room (which was immaculate).
However, we found that the John Ash restaurant had a limited menu - even for a four night stay, with no change in the choices.
We noted that there was no access to the pool (it appeared to be undergoing renovation) but we were not made aware of this before or during our stay: we just found out. No alternative was offered.
Walking through the attached vineyard was pleasant. It would have been good to have the offer of a simple tour at a modest cost rather than the expensive one with an included picnic which seemed to be the only option.
We would stay at Vintners Resort again, but perhaps not eat there in the evenings.

I was very pleased with the call ahead of my arrival! I explained that I was using crutches after surgery and the gentleman upgraded my reservation to a suite since there are no elevators on property and the room I booked would have been upstairs. This was stellar and I'm so appreciative! Five star service right there! We arrived early at 3pm (I had requested 4pm) and our room wasn't ready until 5pm. Not so stellar. We had an unfortunate event of two blackberry drinks spilling on my brother-in-law at dinner (the server was horrified and handled himself professionally.) The GM came by, apologized, said he wanted to comp drinks or dessert in addition to cleaning the jacket. He did not comp drinks or dessert (at least not on the bill we signed.) Not necessary but also not stellar. When we checked out, the young gentleman (who said he was less that a week on the job) told me that he would send the folio as soon as a manager checked out a credit of ~$40. I wonder if this is a credit that was promised to us at dinner after the blackberry incident. Don't know because I still have not received my final bill. I tried using the Contact Us link on the website but it keeps throwing errors. I really want to love this place! The prices are high and I would expect a higher level of service. I'm guessing they'll get there, but they were off their game this weekend.

We booked a vineyard view room at a higher price, but when I checked in and went to my room it didn’t have one. I phoned the front desk and was told they upgraded my room, but this room had a lot of issues. One, it was not far from the pool which is under construction and there was constant beeping from heavy equipment. Other issues were that the AC didn’t work; I set it to 68 (it would not set lower) and the temperature of the room never went below 72. Furniture was dated and the top of the bench in front of the bed was peeling. The coffee maker didn’t work and one of the lights in the bathroom was out. Also, they charge a $45 resort fee and the pool wasn’t even available. The staff was nice, but $650 a night for this was way too high. I like the area, but will look for a better place next time we visit.

The hotel was in a convenient location for us to visit Wineries in Dry Creek and Alexander Valley. The hotel consists of spread out little buildings with nice gardens and a wine country feel. We stayed in a new building and it was very nice, with a huge bathroom and very comfortable bed. Nice products, a free half bottle of wine and some other beverages provided. While we were there, so pool and hot tub were closed for renovation as were some other areas, which was disappointing. I guess there is a hot tub indoors that you have to book. Also, the resort is very close to the freeway and it's audible when outdoors. The room was very quiet. We ate at the John Ash & Co restaurant which was delicious. We sat in an (enclosed outdoor) area that was a little cold, despite a heater. The staff was very nice and I highly recommend the Truffle Gnocchi. Breakfast was below average and the $8 tiny cappuccino and single shot latte seemed outrages. I got a "basked" of pastries for $13 that had 5 miniature pastries. While we enjoyed our stay, we likely won't be back. We felt the resort lacked athmosphere.

First, let me refer you to Debbie A’s complimentary review in October, 2020. All of the positive features are correct. The purpose of this brief review isn’t to negate the positive but to alert visitors of unnecessary charges.
Some might quibble over my objection to the egg- centric breakfast offerings, with no yoghurt and no pastries/breads for which the pastry chef is known. There is an oatmeal/quinoa blend and a lackluster granola. This isn’t the problem.
When paying the first night’s deposit on a discounted rate of $318, we received confirmation with a total of $398–a 25% increase. The 14% taxes were included but also a resort fee of $30 + 14%!!! When questioned why there was a resort fee for services not rendered owing to Covid restrictions, the receptionist claimed that it covered free parking (of which there is no shortage), freedom to walk along the gardens (which you do anyway to get to your room), use of the heated pool, a half bottle of wine and three soft drinks in the minibar, WiFi, BUT no newspapers or exercise room. (Newspapers could have been provided by delivering them wrapped, like the bathrobes). All of these were included when it was Vintners Inn. Apparently changing the name to Vintners will cost you $35 for the same amenities.
NOTE: Just because you call yourself a resort doesn’t make you one. To their credit and because we asked, we were allowed to check in at 2 pm.

The vineyard view rooms are quite nice, the beds are not very comfy but the rooms are updated and have lovely views. We have stayed here several times in the past 2 years and each time as we are leaving I am angry about the the resort fee. $30 day gets you some nice beverages upon check in ($20 value?) and cookies during turndown. Upon asking we were also told it includes parking, which is plentiful, use of the pool - I've never been to a hotel that doesn't include the pool in the room rate but the jacuzzi is only for spa use. Guests are unable to use the luggage carts due to liability issues, which oddly was not an issue when more covid protocols were in place. This is probably one of the nicer hotels in the area for the price but calling it a "resort" is a bit of a stretch. In short, I will probably be back when there is a 50% off deal and I will still be unhappy about the resort fee.

So, good points, disappointing points... Had a King Balcony Fireplace room with Vineyard View. Each 'adjective' is an upgrade. Great view of the vineyard, room nicely appointed and updated. Had breakfast on our way out, great meal.
Fireplace didn't operate. Noted that at 900pm on Sunday so not inclined to call down for 'repair' when in robes before going to bed. When i brought this to the attnetion of the front desk on checkout: Q- "Did you call to have it looked at?" A- "When my wife and I are in robes just before bed on a Sunday? Really?"
Room wasn't ready at 4pm checkin time so waited in the car for our keys.
No one at the front desk let us know that all items in the minbar were included.
No room handbook [how to operate the fireplace, hotel policies, etc.].
To their credit they removed the resort fees each day, once for the delay in checkin, the other for the non op fireplace.
For a 'destination' resort at $400 per nite they should have this on autopilot.

Our group was meeting with friends living in the Santa Rosa area and we ended up in the best location. The resort was beautiful in the spring with native California and Mediterranean plantings as well as vineyards all around. Since we weren't to spend too much time there for our 2 day stay, I took advantage of the prepaid 20% off for the least expensive room. We were upgraded just before our visit and our second floor room (no elevator) in the 300's with a balcony was quite spacious and comfortable. We had 2 lovely breakfasts in the mornings. We didn't have time to take advantage of the complimentary wine tasting at a local vineyard nor any of the resorts' amenities. Would suggest asking for a view over the vineyards. Indoors we couldn't hear the freeway, but could hear it when we went outside. The front desk staff were prompt, efficient and helpful. We had a delicious group dinner at John Ash (separately reviewed). And a private tasting at the local DeVera winery (which see).

We were there in March and it seemed it was just getting started so I don't know if it is finished or not, but it did not bother us. You might want to call them and inquire. It is a lovely place and we really enjoyed our stay.
Good Morning, I'm so sorry but Vintners Inn is not a pet friendly property. We have many guests who specifically check to make sure we don't allow pets because of allergies. Certified service animals only. There are several pet friendly properties in this area, check Sonoma County Tourisms website for that information. Sue
