Casa Madrona Hotel & Spa emerges as a favorite for its prime location in downtown Sausalito, where guests enjoy the convenience of nearby dining and shopping along with scenic vistas. Reviewers consistently applaud the hotel for its immaculate cleanliness and the staff's attentive service. The rooms are frequently celebrated for their comfort, spaciousness, and stunning views, although some have mentioned the ADA room bed heights as a concern. While the hotel's atmosphere and amenities receive high marks, including modern touches and fitness facilities, a few travelers suggest there is room to enhance the amenities further.

It was our wedding anniversary n as parents of 3 we needed a getaway n we felt so rested during our 3 nights stay here. The bed was comfy and looking at the beautiful ocean from our balcony is so relaxing. The room looked clean. Upon arrival there was a tape on our room door stating that the room has been sanitized n unoccupied one night prior to our check-in for our comfort. For peace of mind I also brought my own cleaning spray but our room already looked really clean. I was disappointed that there were no hotel robes n slippers. I was only going to put them on for photos anyway lol so I didn’t bother to ask the front desk. We had dinner at Poggio which is right next door and our food was so delicious. Gym and spa are not available d/t the pandemic. Staff are friendly and always smiling. Thank you Casa Madrona for the bottle of wine. For sure we’ll come back to celebrate our future anniversaries.

The hotel was gorgeous, check in seamless. We stayed in Mansión suite with our 2 your children for 3 nights. The view from the balcony was stunning. During our stay we also enjoyed the fire pits on the 4th floor. However, our bed was so uncomfortable! The mattress was not comfortable and the wooden headboard squeaked every time we moved. We did not get very restful sleep.

Also due to covid there was no housekeeping. This was a bit unpleasant as our trash can got overfilled very quickly. It would have been nice if they could at least empty the trash each day and vacuum. Considering that California has reopened and many people are vaccinated in the state I’m not sure why they could not clean our room.

We took advantage of a special offer and a pet friendly venue (for our aged small blind dog) to celebrate 40 years since our wedding day (which was also on an unusually hot weekend). In these shelter in place times, finding some place to go is no small challenge. We took advantage of the offer from Casa Madrona, a place we'd admired for years, to spend two nights there. Our stay was wonderful-the third floor front room was spacious, easily accessed and well equipped. The better parts were that Poggio's was in the building for our Anniversary night dinner; parking was free with self in and out convenience just across Bridegway and the whole of visitor friendly Sausalito was in easy walking distance for our enjoyment of the friendly and historic atmosphere of the town. We are sorry we didn't enjoy the hotel before but look forward to visiting again. (Our dog seemed to feel comfortable there also.)

Extremely understaffed. We did not feel welcome.
We had a prior stay at this location and remember a great service in the past and that was the reason why I booked this hotel again, however this was a total disappointment. While paying $600 per night, we expect at least some level of service provided by the staff.
1) While making a reservation directly with the hotel, I end up waiting over 23 minutes just to get a question answered and still was answered incorrectly.
As we pulled in, I parked the car in front of the Valet, Gentleman looked at us and continued with his phone call. We got out of our car unloaded the luggage and eventually asked him if he is willing to help with the car. Only then he took the car and while seeing us carrying our luggage, did NOT offer any assistant.
We walked in to the registration, No welcome, No Smile and still did not offer any assistance with Luggage.
We took the elevator to 4th floor and carried the luggage another 2 level up to 6th on stairs.
No one walked us to our room.
Later that night called the Valet to pull the car, Front desk answered and said she will help. 20 minutes later we still waited for the car looking for an attendant. Finally someone walked from cross street and said the car was never called.
On Saturday night called room service to order Breakfast for the morning, I was told to call back in the morning. Called in the morning 3times and keep getting transferred and eventually was told Sorry we are understaffed.
I booked the Mansion Suite for 3 people, There was no pillow or blanket in the room for the 3rd person on sofa bed.
No turn down service in the evening.
It is a shame how your management team are destroying the reputation on this beautiful hotel.
You are charging 5 star Hotel pricing and providing a motel level service.
I feel cheated and over charged.
btw. sent this feedback to General Manager about a week ago. They never responded.

I am so sorry that your recent stay with us did not live up to your expectations. As the General Manager, I am very disappointed to hear that the staff fell short of their responsibilities. We are in the hospitality business and at no time can we waiver from providing outstanding customer service. I will be sharing your comments with the entire Team as they all need to hear what you have shared so that we can learn from it and improve. I unfortunately did not receive your email to me and this morning was the first time I saw your review(s). I realize that I cannot take back what you experienced, however, if you would be so kind as to reach out to me directly at 415-354-8333, I would like to do something. I sincerely apologize and do hope that we can make amends and that you give us another opportunity.

Unfortunately our stay last week was disappointing. Starting with our check in around 11:00pm, when I made my reservation I clearly mentioned to the person we will have two small size dogs, she informed me there is a $75 charge for each pet. In turn I asked, will there be a charge for a service dog? I was told there will be no charge for a service dog, I was surprise when we checked in will be a $100 fee for each dog not $75, late night after 11 hours of driving I wasn't happy to haggle for pet fees, I was charged $100 for one dog, although quoted fee was $75.

During our stay we cleaned the room by choice because of our dogs & length of stay, what was most surprising was lack of awareness by housekeeping, every time we called for clean towels & sheets they never asked or offered do you need water, clean wine glasses or coffee cups? I would think if they were cleaning our room they would be restocking coffee pods, tea pods, water bottles or drinking glasses . Our interaction with management members or the front desk, doorman was polite but housekeeping, maintenance staff did not greet or hold the lift when they were in the elevator first, covid was not the reason since several times I noticed the same members would get in the lift after the guests without any concern for covid.

On our last day I was out of the property for the last few errands. The front desk agent had called the room @ 11:20 and told my wife the check out time was 11:00, when can you check out? I'm aware the room was reserved & had to be cleaned for the next guest's arrival but 4 hours is plenty of time to clean a room, if I may suggest for the next guest to be more tactful. Last but not least since we were told there is no spa or any other amenities available because of covid, may I ask what is a $35 charge for resort fee on our final recipe?

The beds were horribly uncomfortable and unfortunately we stayed 5 nights, and everyone has electronics these days and there were no updated outlets for USB chargers, if this is important to you. The over all experience was very disappointing. We usually stay at the inn by the bay. we would not visit this property again especially being the beds were so uncomfortable.

We really needed to get away for our anniversary after a year and a half in COVID but didn't want to fly somewhere. We were referred by a normal getaway spot the Hotel Vitale (which is under construction). The Casa Madrona did not disappoint. The Hillside Mountain View room was spacious and spectacularly cleaned and sanitized, really putting ease to our COVID concerns. It is also situated in the middle of Sausalito so there are plenty of shops and restaurants to walk to. The room from our room was of the Bay and harbor, really tranquil and serene. The staff was also super friendly and accommodated my requests for flowers and prosecco for our anniversary and check-in was smooth and quick. If I could offer some suggestions I think the following were the only things I would change:
1) definitely warn guests about the parking, which is super limited and crazy during a 4pm weekend check-in. Understandably during COVID, there isn't a valet, but it would have alleviated some anxiety to know in advance it's a self-park siutation. Took us about 30 minutes to locate a spot and we had to move the car again in the evening. Again, not the end of the world but just something for guests to know about.
2) The Hillside bed was way too creaky and the mattress might need an upgrade. Every time my wife or I got out of bed it was a bit loud but again you can't beat the skylights that sit right above the bed (super dreamy).

We would definitely come back and recommend Sushi Ran for dinner and Firehouse Coffee and Tea for coffee and a quick and delicious breakfast bite.

It's our first time staying in Sausalito. With a lot of research, we chose Casa Madrona over Inn of the Tides, as we thought we would get more for our money. While the room was modern, there were touches that were neglected - door to balcony won't really lock, the tub blocks off most of the bathroom counterspace so that youre stuck doing everything in front of the sink. Also, no additional amenities - no breakfast offering of any type was included, mediocre channel lineup, no cocktail hour offered. There is a restaurant associated with the hotel, so perhaps that is why there is no free wine or drinks or anytype, and that COVID is an excuse, but the prices have not been adjusted to be on par with what is not provided. Parking was also an extra. For about $450 a night, I expected more.

Room keys arbitrarily stopped working and had to be reset at the front desk (approximately 6,000 steps downstairs). Pressing the "in-room dining" button on the telephone in the room connects you to a man who tells you that the hotel doesn't offer any room service. The minibar was just an empty fridge. Unlike every hotel in history, the maid service is opt-IN not opt-out.

I booked a hillside balcony room with a view for the night before my daughter's wedding. I called to confirm that we would have a room with a sofa bed (3 guests) one week before. I was told that "our room was locked in and assured it would be suitable for 3 guests". Upon arrival, we were given a different room that could not accommodate 3 people. The associate who checked us happened to be the same person I spoke to on the phone. She admitted that “somehow our room was given away by someone else” even though she had “locked in our room”. I had specifically booked one room with a view for my daughters and me. The whole point was to stay in one room together.

Wasted an hour in the lobby as she offered me poor excuses, called the manager after claiming no manager was available and offered me $100 refund to take a courtyard room. Finally she offered me 2 rooms on completely different floors and told me 2 of us could sleep in one and the third person in the other. It was so appalling that the guest behind us in line even offered us his room! I’m absolutely disgusted by the poor customer service. Any other reputable hotel would have addressed the problem immediately and with more respect for their guests. I spoke with Kayla (the front end manager) two days after who claimed that not charging me the resort fee back ( a whopping ~$35) was her solution! I'm still waiting to hear back from the general manager. The associate at the front desk claims this never happens but as I read the other reviews, it seems to be a common occurrence. This whole experience ruined what should have been a celebratory evening.

Ms. Tang, As mentioned during our telephone conversation, I sincerely apologize for the for the lack of communication that resulted in your not getting the room that you thought you had reserved and were promised for this special occasion with your daughter. It is never our intent for a situation like you experienced to happen and this certainly was a lesson learned on a number of fronts. As promised, I will be getting a certificate out to you with the hope that you will come back and has a enjoyable, carefree stay. Thank you for your time this morning and for accepting my apology.

Harbour Kings have great views. Keep in mind that that part of the hotel is rather disrupted by building work at the moment and there are no communal lounges, etc. You may wish to check with the hotel about what state it is likely to be in for when you intend to stay. Parking for cars opposite is $25/day (valet is $30) or c.$1.50/hour on the meters (free from 6pm until 9am the following day).

Greetings Dennis, Thank you for reaching out to us via TripAdvisor. We are still undergoing some exciting enhancements. Our courtyard and lobby are areas of minimal impact to our guests. I can assure you that heavy noise and demolition is behind us. I would highly recommend a room in our our Hillside accommodation or our Mansion. We look forward to the chance to welcome you to our beautiful property.

Hi Larry K, thank you for your question. We are currently in the process of enhancing our Courtyard area therefore we do not have any pictures at this time. Our Courtyard accommodations are located in our Contemporary side of our property located above Poggio Restaurant and is the beige colored building in the photos. The room on that side were just updated 2 months ago. Thank you again and we hope we have a chance to welcome you soon!
