I was unpleasantly surprised at the quality of this hotel that I paid a total of $630 for two nights. Besides the wires hanging from the wall, shown by the picture below, the room was under furnished. There were literally two hangers in the closet, two forks and two knives, two Keurig capsules (no spoons or paper towels). The word that comes to mind is stingy.

One bakery coupon for two pastries and coffee for one day was provided, not two. The bakery is several blocks away. Also. there are black out blinds for the bathroom and bedroom area. If they are opened, there is a busy sidewalk a few feet away that people strolling can look right in, so they have to be closed all of the time. The bathroom has no where to put any toiletries, no shelf, nothing. I had to put my toiletries bag outside of the bathroom and go back and forth from the bedroom. Not what I expected for the price. The pictures are not at all representative of the hotel.

Stayed one night in room 3, the bottom floor. It feels like living in a condo with neighbors above and beside you. You can sometimes hear them if they are too loud, but it didn't bother me much. Prices were cheap at $80 during the corona virus time. This hotel was partnered with Hamlet inn just down the street and one on site supervisor manages both facilities. The place was clean, and had TV with lots of channels. Electric outlets on both sides of the bed. The A/C was not working but i didn't need to use it. It has a closet with three light coat hangers. It has a mini fridge (college dorm size). Round dinner table seats 4. Dresser. Bath tub. I notices some ants, but nothing that worried me. over all good stay.

This was a wonderful little place - although little is not descriptive of the room itself! I was pleasantly surprised by how large the room was, but still cozy and comfortable. Very conveniently located near the main shopping and walking area. When I checked in there was a coupon on the table for Olsen's Bakery - be sure not to miss that! I will definitely stay there the next time I visit.

We stopped off in Solvang on a trip up the California coast. The town was in a central location for us to do some wine tasting. There is no one on the property to register with. But we were sent a passcode to get into our room. On entering the room we were surprised at the large size of the room and the high ceiling.
As we looked around we started to see what was wrong. There was a microwave sitting on the window sill. Next to it was a tea kettle sitting on top of a small refrigerator and only three packs of instant coffee for two people for a three day stay. There was very little furniture for such a large room. There was one very small closet with only 2 hangers in it.
The bathroom was the worst part. It was very small. The paint on the wall was blistered and peeling. The small sink and vanity had chips on it with the vanity veneer peeling off. The inside of the vanity was dirty we were afraid to put anything in it and the tile base around the room looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a year.
In walking around the property the stairs were dirty with cobwebs all over them. There were also cobwebs over the lights by many of the room. And worst of all there was no housekeeping service over our three day stay. They did not even come in to empty the trash no less make the beds and clean up the room.
By the way breakfast consisted of a coupon for a bakery a few blocks away, for a danish and a cup of coffee.
All this for an average price of $240+ tax per day.
We would advise to stay way.

Stayed here for only one night but wish we had stayed for more. This is a new charming inn that pays attention to the little details. We arrived in town very early and stopped by the office. We were greeted warmly, checked in and they took down our number so they could text us when our room was ready. We received that text pretty quickly. The room that we had (#7) was huge. It had high ceilings and plenty of space to move around in even with the 2 queen beds and a table for 4. The room and property were super clean. The room had a refrigerator, a coffee maker, and actual coffee cups! Not cheap paper cups but an actual set of cups. There was also a bottle/can opener which was very helpful. The bathroom had plenty of space and a wonderful shower. I absolutely loved the decor of the place. The colors gave it a very modern feel. It is located within easy walking distance of all the shops, bakeries, and all of the other things to see in Solvang. We happily look forward to staying here again in the future.

Location is great - right in the center of Solvang with ample parking. Check-in is at The Hamlet (2 minutes walk away - no big deal). The room itself, whilst being clean, is very old & tired compared to the photos. It was also quite noisy - you could clearly hear conversations from people outside, and noise from the room above. Breakfast is at Olsen's Bakery (2 minutes walk) but is limited to a very small selection of their pastries. Overall, this would have been good for a $60-80 motel, but for a $200 room was very poor value for money.

Although I admit the room was clean it was not what it was advertised to be. First was the fact that the description included a tub shower combination. Only a shower in the bathroom. The sink has a very very small counter space and the hot water faucet was completely stripped so turning on the hot water was an adventure. Checking in was another snafu. There is no office at the building you stay in. It is about 2 1/2 blocks away. Two very small plagues were placed on the front and back of the building which were not easily noticed. There was no apparent or prominent info on this in the room description either. Once we found the office we let them know we were not very happy about this arrangement. I immediately asked where the ice machine was as it was literally 109° outside. There, at the office, was a very small machine sitting on a table. The lady said I could take some with me and call for more if I wanted more. This was totally crazy as we were paying $239 that night and the next for a room worth $79 at best. With these rates they should have an ice machine available on sight. Yes it was Labor Day weekend but this was still an extremely over priced room at that rate. Also advertised was that this was a room with a view. I guess if you like looking at an alley way and dead end street as well as the side of a large white wall across the street you could deceptively say it had a view. I could not recommend this establishment for more than $79 per night and even then would tell anyone to check for another hotel/inn before booking this place. Also there were 8 rooms and 7 parking spaces. Had to park a block away on the second night.

Atterdag Inn is the sister property of the nearby Hamlet Inn and is tucked away in a quiet corner away from the busy Mission Drive, which is the main drag that cuts across the town. Check-in is at the larger and more motel-like Hamlet Inn, a block away. The small facility has 8 rooms and we stayed in the deluxe king suite (room #8) which is nicely appointed with a slightly separated living room, tall ceilings and a large flat panel TV.

The suite is well suited for a family of 4. We have three kids, so they felt a bit cramped on the L shaped futon in the living room.

Atterdag Inn is very clean and since it just opened in July 2015, is quite modern. They supply vouchers for a danish and coffee at the Danish Mill Bakery, which is a couple blocks down Copenhagen Drive.

We also really loved that the excellent Mortensen's Danish Bakery is right across the street. The popular Paula's Pancake House is just a block away.

The good news is that the room is nice and large and the location is great. Walk to everywhere. Also the bed was comfy and that had a nice large flatscreen TV. Internet was good
We stayed in Room 1 which is right on the street so you have to keep the shades down. However, the room is put together like a dorm room. For $300.00 a night i expect a bit more. The wires to the TV and the floor lamp and hanging lamp are hanging and exposed and exposed. the kitchen is nice but barley has any utensils or plates and no towel in case you spill anything. There is no thermostat in the room so if you are cold or hot, you cannot fix. the bathroom is OK but the hot water takes long to get hot. There is no shelf space at all in the bathroom so you have to put anything on the narrow window sill. a shelf would be nice. also no full mirror in the room. there is no hotel phone in the room so if you have to call the office you need to use your own phone. Also, right outside our room in the common outdoor seating area there were bird droppings on the ground for all three days we were there. I really don't think they care as they book the rooms anyway but for $300.00 per night, i am expecting something a bit nicer and an inn keeper that cares a bit more.

Check in as at a different property. A little confusing. Rooms very functional and big. Nothing fancy. Great location. These appear to be apt conversions. High ceilings. Ladies who run it seem sweet. They do not take American Express which seems unamerican. American travelers should be able to reliable on the most powerful credit card in the world. I noticed much of solvang does not take Amex. Shame. That's my Amex rant. Highly recommend this place.
