My wife and I recently celebrated our 29th wedding anniversary at MacArthur Place and were blown away by the property! The staff are some of the nicest and friendliest I have come across in all my travels. We stayed in room 27 and it was fantastic. It had a big patio outside and an outdoor shower! The bed was very comfortable and there were a bunch of items in the room that came free of charge! We both had massages and they were fantastic. Top 5 and I have had a lot of massages in my time. We unfortunately did not eat at Layla on this trip but I have in the past and it was really good. We ate out for each meal as we wanted to try a bunch of restaurants we had heard we need to check out as we live 45 minutes away from Sonoma. We did have a glass or two at the bar of Layla and the staff there were fantastic. Again...I would highly suggest MacArthur Place!

Recently renovated, MacArthur Place has all the new amenities one could ask for and has kept their tradition of great customer service! From the moment you drive up, you are greeted by the complimentary valet staff and the front desk reception area feels like a warm modern living room. On our visit, we enjoyed a nice lunch in the on-site restaurant Layla, formerly a steakhouse(directions to property still has the old title) and the open concept dining was cozy and lots of light from the windows. The bar adjacent to the restaurant is comfortable with relaxing setting to meet and hang out. The Porch provides a great place for grab and go coffee and drinks. Walking the grounds, every path and corner is landscaped and manicured. Even during the fall, it was very pretty and peaceful to enjoy the grounds. Spa, pool, exercise do it all. Rooms are amazing! Every detail has been considered. Complimentary healthy snacks with Steeped Coffee from Santa Cruz will get you spoiled. A stocked beverage fridge is also supplied with very reasonable prices. Our Manor room was truly a decorators goals design. The bed, furniture and private patio was ultimate luxury. Complimentary wine tasting, fire pits, dining at Layla made for a wonderful stay! The property is located in town but it was extremely quiet and bikes are available to cruise to Sonoma Plaza just minutes away. Across the street is Jacks Filling Station a cute vintage gas station selling gas, wine, beer, picnic supplies and records.

My fiance and I stayed here last weekend and had an incredible time. MacArthur Place was one of the nicest hotels I've stayed at; spectacularly modern with updated rooms, a beautiful property, great location close to downtown, incredible food at Layla, and very friendly staff!

We felt very safe visiting in the COVID environment, with our room having been thoroughly sanitized and all the staff taking precautions when we interacted with them. The dining at Layla was at an outdoor-ish tent with heat lamps and spaced out tables; we felt very safe eating there (also, the food was wonderful!)

The rooms are chic, modern, and even have wonderful tech which makes it feel that much more glamorous (such as touch panels that control all the lights, and a chromecast on the 65" TV). I believe the entire hotel was renovated only a few years ago, and it shows. The outdoor paths are dotted with cozy gas firepits that were wonderful to sit around in the daytime and when it got chilly at night.

Lastly, everyone we interacted with was wonderful, and they went out of their way to make sure we had an enjoyable time, particularly when they found out that we got engaged over the weekend. We will absolutely be coming back for future visits to Sonoma!

We visited MacArthur Place in late December as part of a week long romantic getaway to SF/Sonoma/Napa.

Every single detail of our stay here was on point. Someone put a lot of thought into the amenities and style of this hotel and it really shows. We so enjoyed the coffee bar, the turn down service with cookies, complimentary in room snacks, delicious in room coffee, wood burning stove, super comfy robe and slippers, even a dyson hairdryer (which I now must have).
The maid service paid extra special attention to the small but important things. Our room was huge with a super comfortable bed, massive tub, even heated floors. The valet was awesome too, offering water each time. We loved the cottage style hotel.

We were so sad to leave and will definitely be back, hopefully soon! Thanks for an amazing stay!

Just spent a very relaxing week here. They definitely make you feel like a treasured guest from check in to check out there is very little to complain about. We found our room a bit cramped and were generously upgraded to a larger room with pretty courtyard views from the balcony. the property is very pretty, lots of greens and beautiful trees. the pool is well attended and grouped in a way to facilitate social distancing. everywhere you go on property there are handsanitizers that smell like lavender and masks are mandatory indoors at all times. We felt super safe and cared for. I lost my watch after using the jacuzzi and it was found by Carlos the groundskeeper and returned to me! Phew! what a relief! such honest and caring staff is hard to find! Michael the manager and Shana at front desk and Amaya the manager of the restaurant Layla and Porch coffee shop also deserve mention for going above and beyond in the service department! there were however a few snafus (hence the 4 star review). the AC in our room did not function properly and it could really get hot in the afternoon. i had set it to 66 but it never went lower than 72. Some days when it was super hot out it hovered at 75 and despite my many complaints this was never fixed. some of the lights were also having issues and our door keys kept having to be replaced bc. they would stop working almost daily. But, these are minor issues and I do recommend this hotel highly and would definitely come back here in the future!

We stayed at MacArthur Place on new years eve. The service at this hotel truly made the experience. We arrived at the hotel and was greeted with the most welcoming and accommodating valet Sean; he was prompt with his service, gave us a very comprehensive welcome tour of the property and even set up water bottles in our car's cupholders when we picked the car up. We told him we had guests coming that night and he was more than welcoming to them when they arrived. Our whole party really appreciated his hospitality and left all of us with a great first impression of the hotel.

When we first arrived in our room, we realized that there was an unfortunate mistake where the hotel's online booking system put us in the wrong room type. Because it was new years eve and the hotel was fully booked, it wasn't possible for us to move to the room we had originally booked. However, the front desk manager Michael did everything he could to correct this mistake immediately despite limited options with a fully booked hotel. Later in the night, he even helped us to find a wonderful restaurant which could seat a party of 4 despite it being NYE.
Thanks again for all your help Sean and Michael! These two deserve promotions!

Breakfast at the hotel restaurant Layla was also noteworthy. They had the most fresh and delicious food we've had in a while. Strongly recommended.

We've stayed at many of the world's best hotels and resorts, but the service at MacArthur Place truly stood out as one of the most warm and welcoming.

My husband and I took a 2 night getaway to Sonoma to celebrate my recent birthday. I feel like we struck gold with my choice of MacArthur Place!
From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, we we were treated as truly “welcomed” guests. The entire staff was attentive, professional and friendly.
Our room was spacious, bright, luxurious and comfortable with a modern farmhouse charm. We appreciated the smart light/ energy features as well as touch reading sconces above the bed.
We had comfy swivel chairs and an ottoman in front of the fireplace. The bed and bedding were high quality and comfortable. There was storage galore to put away all of your clothing; 3 dressers and a storage bench!
The large soaking tub was divine as was the bright spacious bathroom with more generous storage.
We had a large tray of complimentary healthy snacks and water, which were refreshed daily. Evening turn down service included fabulous cookies from the chef. A complimentary wine hour was held from 5-6 pm with great wine and fabulous charcuterie boards.
We enjoyed The Bar at MacArthur Place one evening and had the best calamari we’ve ever enjoyed!
One afternoon, we borrowed the complimentary electric bikes and rode to Buena Vista Winery for a picnic:)
The grounds of MacArthur Place are beautifully manicured, as is the entire facility. We enjoyed sitting by the outdoor fire pits on several occasions.
Overall, our stay at MacArthur Place was a 10 out of 10! We can’t wait to go back!

We've been coming to MacArthur Place for over 10 years now.
We always liked it, and we loved Saddles restaurant.
When I saw they were remodeling, and changing the restaurant, I was worried.
I let them know through Facebook, and they invited me for dinner from the new chef and a tour of a newly remodeled room, so I could see what to expect when everything was done.
Well, the steak and cocktails were great, and we stayed again in 2020, just days before the Covid Shelter In Place orders.
This weekend, we made our first return since then.
It was fantastic. There were plenty of friendly, helpful young men to help with luggage and to park the car. We were checked in very quickly by a friendly young lady.
Our luggage was taken to our room, which was a great room. One of only two rooms in that building, so no upstairs neighbors. A private patio out back with outdoor shower and tub, and a sitting area.
The inside bathroom was very large, and the shower was just the right size, with decent water pressure. The toilet had it's own room, there were dual sinks, spaced a good distance apart, footlights that came on when you entered, and nice products, as well.
The bed was very comfortable, the TV was very big and had a great picture.
Really, no complaints at all, except maybe that phone. The only part I could get to work was the 0 button. But with that I was able to order room service one night, and it was great. We ate at the bar the next night, and that was even better. Audrey was especially wonderful. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful, and many had photo buttons on, so you could see their faces, as most are still wearing masks.
We will return!

MacArthur Place is truly a unique and special resort hotel in Sonoma. We had the pleasure of staying in one of the suites and immediately noted impeccable attention to detail in many aspects of the property and room. The design consisted of a modern and clean aesthetic, sparing little expense on the furniture and fixtures, which perfectly complemented the outdoor lush greenery and flowers throughout the property that felt to me like a secret garden hideaway. The hotel is full of special details and surprises, of which the en suite fireplace with endless firewood at your disposal was one of our favorites. Service was proactive and readily at our disposal. Fulfillments of any requests were met in a timely manner, with staff going above and beyond in trying to ensure the best stay possible. We had a brief and reparable issue with the room and in compensation the staff went way out of their way to make it up to us. The property is centrally located and facilitated for us the perfect getaway for a weekend of wine tasting and great food. The on-site restaurant Layla is also a don’t miss.

Our stay at MacArthur Place was heavenly! The rooms were beautiful with every detail down to the Dyson hair dryers and heated bathroom floors given the upmost attention. The firepits around the property were so cozy and charming. Layla and the Porch coffee shop were both awesome.

My mom stayed there too and is incredibly picky, usually switching rooms multiple times and having numerous complaints. However she loved the first room provided and decided to request the same room and extend their stay for our next trip - a big vote of confidence for MacArthur Place!
