I stayed at MacArthur Place for my 40th birthday. I’ve always wanted to go to California wine country, and this place exceeded my expectations. The property is beautiful, and the rooms were great too. From check-in to check-out, the service was amazing. Housekeeping went above and beyond when they cleaned our room when we were out wine tasting. We ate at restaurants all over, and Layla on the property was amazing as everything else in the area. If you are not sure about where to stay, I actually prefer Sonoma to Napa if your plans are still open. It has much more of a small town feel. I definitely hope to go back.

My daughter and I recently took a trip to MacArthur Place Hotel and Spa.
I had encountered a grueling health crisis over the last year and a half and my daughter was graduating from school and I was celebrating a significant birthday. However, as celebratory as the situation warranted, I was very tired and drained. I reached out to the concierge, Debra, for assistance and was treated with an enormous amount of attentiveness, help, and respect. I explained how important this trip was, and the meaning behind certain special requests. What we received from initial contact forward was above, and beyond what we expected. The front desk was very accommodating, housekeeping was absolutely lovely, the bellhops were extremely polite and on top of things, and the restaurant (Layla) was scrumptious!
We had a second trip planned at another location, but we decided that we didn’t want to fly there because we already knew we were comfortable at MacArthur Place. I moved forward and canceled that trip and we have another trip planned to return. The restaurant recommendations were spot on so we plan on revisiting those as well as the massages we enjoyed on the property. All of your staff represented top notch and allowed for one of our most memorable vacations yet. When you have a young adult state that they plan on making the location their location of a lifetime you know it went well.
I hope management sees this message, and then everyone gets the props. They deserve for being AMAZING!

We couldn’t have asked for a more stunning and magical location than MacArthur Place for our destination wedding in Sonoma, CA!
Not only is the venue beautiful, but the staff was exceptional. They were incredibly accommodating and worked closely with us, making sure every detail was handled with care. They were flexible, supportive, and truly invested in making our wedding day flawless. We couldn’t have done it without their hospitality.
We also highly recommend working with Alyssa Bray-Events, who helped us bring our vision to life and made the entire process stress-free. They worked seamlessly with the venue to ensure every detail was perfect. In addition, Alicia Parks Photography was incredible at capturing the beauty of the venue and the joy of the day, creating memories we will cherish forever.

We couldn't have had a better experience at the MacArthur. The hotel itself was beautiful and intimate, but spacious. The staff were exceptional. The location was ideal as it was a short ride (car or electric bike provided by the hotel) to Sonoma Square. We can't wait to return!

I’ve bookmarked this hotel for the longest time and was waiting for prices to drop to give them a try. When it did we jumped on it. We got an amazing deal on 2 premium suites, and we are even more grateful for the hotel for accommodating our request for an en-suite tub. Beautiful grounds with manicured lawns and fire pits dotted along the pathways—just a little smaller than I imagined. The pool and gym was closed off due to construction but I’m not one to use those facilities, so didn’t matter to me. The rooms were clean and tastefully decorated —gives off a modern cabin feel, especially when you have the fireplace lit-up. It was a nice touch that they provided complementary snacks, coffee, and water. Supposedly, most of the rooms have been renovated but you are already seeing some wear and tear in the bathroom (shower tiles). My only gripe is the parking situation, if you want to self park you’ll have to park your car on the streets (I saw plenty of parking spaces by the staffs parking lot, not sure why those can’t be used). Would I stay again? Only when there’s a deal.

Our stay at MacArthur Place was heavenly! The rooms were beautiful with every detail down to the Dyson hair dryers and heated bathroom floors given the upmost attention. The firepits around the property were so cozy and charming. Layla and the Porch coffee shop were both awesome.
My mom stayed there too and is incredibly picky, usually switching rooms multiple times and having numerous complaints. However she loved the first room provided and decided to request the same room and extend their stay for our next trip - a big vote of confidence for MacArthur Place!

Very nice location & property. Large room with nice amenities. However, for 5 star / very expensive property I would've expected near perfection, but there were a few things off: 1) Mattress needs to be replaced (worn/soft on edge where people usually sit causing a ridge in the middle of the right-side sleeping surface) 2) Only 1 soap dispenser for 2 sinks 3) Only 1 soap dispenser for 2 showers 4) Heating flooring in bathroom was not working correctly and only warmed near the middle of the floor 5) Mini-bar pricing was nearly impossible to find - and note on top stating "complimentary snacks" was confusing as it was only for the 3 small items on the cabinet (chips, cookies, jerky). 6) Was warned there were weddings planned in the courtyard outside our room, but it would not impact us. However, upon attempting to return to our room after a day out to shower in prep for dinner reservations, we were kept from entering our room as the wedding was being videoed and they didn't want us walking thru the background. Not a big deal, but almost made us late for our dinner reservations. 7) Aircon controls were near entry door (away from main room) which caused the main room to get very cold as the temp sensor was much warmer than the main room.

The property is beautiful and well located. The service is inconsistent and more appropriate for a less exclusive property. We had inconsistent service from the restaurant to the spa, including a couples massage where i was blissed out and my husband was miserable. The front desk told us upon check in that normally we'd get a room upgrade but because we were staying so long (5 days) they couldn't offer it. Did they want us to leave sooner? Details like turning the music off overnight at the restaurant (which was right next to our room) were not seen to. One night it played all night. Dinner at Layla's was ok. The gluten-free gnochi was beige in color and flavor. The entire meal was not at all worthy of the reviews of the restaurant. New chef perhaps? The room was lovely and so clean. The maid service was wonderful and the property is so close to town that we rarely needed our car. Good thing because every time we called for it, it wasn't there when we got to the front. The valet explained that their software wasn't working. The desk is located 20 feet from the valet, if you know it's not working, maybe you can yell to someone? All this being said, Sonoma is a great town and this is the prettiest hotel in the area. I wish the service was better.

We had an incredible stay at MacArthur Place in Sonoma, and it was made even better by how welcoming they were to our dog! From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure we all felt at home, including our furry friend. The grounds are beautiful and perfect for a relaxing stroll. The room was spacious, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed, making it a great retreat after a day of exploring Sonoma.
