I had made plans for a silent retreat at another west coast retreat center but they were cancelled due to the weather so this was a last minute change. They honored my request for a quiet room (away from the central activities) and the room was VERY quiet and peaceful. The room was simply and nicely furnished and my after-hours...

The spot is beautiful, the accommodations are simple, the food is vegetarian and made with love and purpose, but not great. Lots of tea and coffee available. Wifi in only 1 spot, the Pine Room. The woman n the office/check in room is not particularly friendly or accommodating. Actually a bit pretentious for some unknown reason. Everyone else, monks, nuns,...

The road leading up to it is a narrow one lane. Drive with caution. There is ample parking by the bookstore. Dogs are allowed on the trails on leash. Beautiful two mile trail with some elevations and another six mile option. Worth a visit. We hiked with elementary school age kids and it was not difficult. It is a retreat...

The road leading up to the temple is only one lane. Drive with caution. Parking is available after you go into the gate and make a right at the sign. Restroom is available by the dining hall. Oh. Did I mention dress comfortably and like you are going hiking because you will be walking uphill to get to the shrine....

I hiked on the property -- they are open to the public Sundays after 12 Noon (Closed Saturdays!) for hiking. It is a beautiful, magical, serene property. The hike is a 6.5 mile loop that took me a little over 2.5 hrs. Would rate as moderate - very easy terrain but a few steep hills. Highly recommend this for a...

Simple rooms with healthy tasty food. The surrounding area is great for hiking located in the serene redwoods of Santa Cruz. •pool •WiFi in certain areas; respect those who live here and try to not be on devices near holy areas •laundry service •meditation classes •tea/coffee/fruit/filtered water available to those that stay on premises 24/7

I stayed at LMB as part of a Road Scholar retreat for women. Overall, I found LMB deserved high ratings. As advertised rooms are simple, clean and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was very small and didn't have a towel rack. The food was excellent ! The grounds were beautiful and peaceful. My stay would have been better...

The first adjective that comes to mind is 'serene'. The only sounds are the occasional ringing of the prayer bells or gong. This year, my niece accompanied my friend and me on a hike. Hills involved, both up and down, but frequent benches often with a quotation or tenet of Buddhism. Learn, discover, and exercise at your own rate, all...

Wonderful hike, with great trails and places for meditation just off the trails, or at the temples along the way. The Enchanted Forest is also super peaceful. We toured it while a young girl was doing laps to raise funds; look her up!

I participated in a yoga meditation retreat here. The rooms were spartan, but comfortable and clean, and the food was vegetarian, very tasty and a well-described to fit any dietary concerns. The grounds were inspirational and the whole weekend was very relaxing and restorative. This is a great place for a retreat, but don't expect to check in with anyone...
