Petit Ermitage stands out for its eclectic charm and prime location, applauded by guests for its proximity to vibrant nightlife and cafes. The hotel's rooftop and heated pool, along with its unique decor, create a luxurious and welcoming atmosphere that reviewers celebrate.

Detailed Reviews
I hesitate to write this review because I don't want the secret of what a special oasis in L.A. this hotel is. I'm actually an L.A. resident and my girlfriend and I staycation here often bc it really does feel like we're somewhere in a foreign land. I recently celebrated my 50th Birthday at "Petit" and, thanks to the amazing hotel staff, I can honestly say it was one of the best weekends of my life! My family and many friends stayed at the hotel and everyone is still talking about what a wonderful experience they had. The staff is very friendly and did everything possible to make us feel welcome and take care of our every need. We even had our very own "Liaison to Happiness", Taylor Macdonald, who greeted us upon arrival and entertained me and my party guests with song and dance!
Our family style dinner for 20 in the super private, dimly lit (w candles and twinkle lights) rooftop Garden restaurant was beyond delicious, with yummy options for my vegan and vegetarian guests. Thanks to food and beverage manager, Martin, and our head server, Jason, the service at dinner and during the coctail party on the firedeck afterward was impeccable. Everything from the gorgeous rooftop views of the city, the elegant and sexy ambience and music to the yummy craft cocktails and fun, laid back vibe made my 50th an amazing evening my guests and I will never forget. I can't say enough about what a special, beautiful hotel Petit Ermitage is. The owner Stefan and his brother have really created something truly magical!!! This is all not to mention the beautiful, clean, cozy and romantic rooms, the spell binding scent of the hotel's signature candle that wafts through the hallways, which are lined with owner's fabulous original art collection, and the much appreciated 24/7 delicious room service!
Whether you're looking for a relaxing, private, romantic escape or a fabulous venue to throw a special soiree, I can not recommend this hotel more!

I cannot express how at ease I felt at Petite Ermitage, from the time of arrival to the time I had to depart. They take extraordinary measures to make you feel safe, sanitized and comfortable. The luxury of a boutique hotel like Petite during these different times provided a sense of home for us as the staff was so attentive - masks were work by everyone and on the roof deck sanitation walked around every hour spraying and disinfecting. The blonde floor manager made sure to talk to us and check up on our stay - even sending us some spiked slushy cocktails :). At dinner time, the spunky comedian server really livened up our moods and was so accommodating to all our dietary restrictions. It truly was such a pleasure and treat to stay here. I booked my trip back to LA and am staying for a week in a month. Loved loved loved it.

I was fortunate enough to check out Petit Ermitage this past weekend based on another friend's recommendation who said the rooftop dinner alone would make the stay worth it. The rooms are like something out of a carnival or Cirque du Soleil and the art on the walls and in the halls gives this place a unique and different feel. The open air restaurant on the top floor had great ambience and excellent food. It also feels safe because of the space and stuffed animals which helps people social distance. If you’ve ever seen a really cool Hollywood hotel in the movies with a rooftop pool then this is that kind of place. It is like you are in some enchanted hideaway hidden in the middle of all this greenery. It isn't cheap, but for the same money as boring hotels you can come here and treat yourself to something different.

Had a wonderful stay at petite hermitage last week. Spent lazy days by the pool and felt very safe and socially distanced. Staff are super friendly. They take your temperature when you enter the premises, social distancing is practiced throughout the property and there are staff constantly cleaning. The pool is just an oasis and the tuna salad is the bomb. Thanks for a beautiful stay my I’ll be back ❤️❤️❤️

I stayed for several days at Petit Ermitage recently and could not have been happier with the stay. The staff are uniformly pleasant and not too hip for their patrons. Embracing the small size of the property itself, corridors glow in warm pools of light which show off the commissioned and other art to great effect and create an almost Mediterranean feel in the yellow hues of the walls. Small, unexpected details like the blackboard walls of the staircases at either end of the hotel are signs of design which runs through the whole building. Though we felt the hipster/beautiful young things of LA were a little absurd effetely draped around the rooftop pool/lounge, the decor and feel of it are pretty perfect. In the private dining area, each table is like a separate cabana with curtains and plants ensuring you and your friends and family aren't part of a big scene. If you want loud look-at-me spaces this isn't for you. The selections are a little thin but the food itself is quite good and pricey. The same goes for drinks here and on the rooftop - evidently the West Hollywood address commands high prices for the privilege of drinking alcohol while looking over the LA basin.
On the whole, Petit Ermitage is a beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of the Strip without being part of the action.

We appreciate you recognizing how un-hip we are. In fact, several of us have had to have hip replacements on the basis of us getting "too hip." Thankfully the procedure has a 73% success rate so we only lose 23% of those that get too hip. And are we actually losing anything?

I’ll just start by saying Petit Ermitage made a bad situation for me and my girlfriend a blessing in disguise. Our apartment shower started to leak into the building hallway and long story short, there’s construction working tearing apart our entire bathroom for a week. So not having a shower while we work from home in the pandemic was a real issue. We found this hotel in the neighborhood and honestly it was amazing. The staff is super helpful and wonderful and the whole place is curated wonderfully. Kinda just has a sexy vibe to the whole thing. Setting up your mobile office on beautiful rooftop garden that looks like it’s in the Mediterranean was a nice change of pace from working remotely on your couch. We will be back again for a staycation soon. They were very conscious of staying as safe and sterile as possible in this pandemic. Very much appreciated that they were taking everything seriously.

We sincerely apologize, for some reason we had marked on your reservation that you had selected the ‘Live in a Disaster Movie’ package to your stay. Clearly this was a mistake, and thankfully was realized before the shark and tornado arrived. We have taken every step to ensure that this does not happen again and hope you return so you can experience total peace for your entire stay. And thank you for complimenting the 2 attributes we are most proud of; Sexy and Sterile. We are many things but Sexy and Sterile really sum us up!

I had a miserable time at Petit Ermitage. Don’t let the rooftop view fool you, that’s all the hotel has going for it. Take a closer look at the building - it’s just a cheap, old apartment building covered in stucco and made to look vintage.
The rooms are dark and dusty and contain old appliances. The AC is a wall unit that barely functions and there are hardly any outlets to charge devices.
The service is also atrocious. When you’re on the rooftop, you have to flag down servers several times to place a drink order, and on many occasions we had to order twice because our server forgot to put our order in the computer. They also charges us for items we never received.
The worst part is that the hotel rooftop is open 24/7, which means there’s noise at all hours of the night. Our room 219 was right next to the staircase and we were regularly awake from 2:30am-4:30am dealing with loud guests, furniture moving, and staff running up and down the stairs, shaking our headboard. The noise would resume at 7am and persisted throughout the day into the late hours of the morning.
I tried everything I could to get a fair resolution but Troy on management would only send a bottle of wine and comp food and beverage charges. We had to cancel our stay halfway through and book another hotel just to get a good night’s sleep. This caused us to pay significantly more in last minute room rates. In response to asking for a better resolution, the front desk manager Tess said, “well not every guest has your experience.” Needless to say, we won’t be going back to the Petit Ermitage again. Our stay was nothing short of a disaster.

Good Day Kaitlin, Thank you for your overwhelming number of negative reviews about us, I really hope you feel better now. We were indeed in the 70s an apartment building and restructured as a hotel in the 80s. The building is covered in vines from the outside and inside it is called “Venetian Plaster”, which contains real marble dust, which adds to the beauty of the finish, so I would not consider that “just cheap” as the maintenance of it is very expensive. It is always disappointing when my staff goes above and beyond to accommodate guest requests, yet these efforts are conveniently ignored by you. You booked your stay at the beginning of March and called at the end of March to ask if we could move your reservation to another week in April for the same rate and I agreed to accommodate you, even though the hotel was almost fully booked due to Covid occupancy restrictions and with considerably higher rates. Regarding the noise, it is very rare that our hotel receives noise complaints. We are a private hotel and not open to the public and we have not had any large-scale events due to Covid; if there is a noise issue, we send security within the minute that the noise complaint happens. You will understand that we have to allow our guests to be able to walk through our hallways or staircases, so I apologize if they were too loud. I apologize for the rooftop and that you had to flag down staff, human error can happen in the best establishments. Troy indeed tried to find a fair resolution for you, I am not sure what else he could have done. We not only sent you a complimentary bottle of wine and comped food and beverages, we also waived our resort fee for you. To clarify my front office manager’s comment to you, after you threatened Tess to write negative reviews about us, which is not the orderly fashion to a “better resolution” by the way, Tess apologized and stated that she would understand your frustration but that not everyone is going to have that experience when staying here. The vast majority of persons who stay with us at Petit Ermitage recognize Petit for what it is – a unique and private property that guests overwhelmingly enjoy. All the best to you.

It was very hard to judge this hotel. ‘Average’ rate didn’t seem good enough, but ‘very good’ feels slightly too much…
First impressions were great and, despite what other reviewers have said about cleanliness, I have to say that our room and all communal areas were spotlessly clean. The decor of the hotel won’t be for everyone. It’s very ‘old Hollywood’ - we liked it so no complaints there.
The staff were, without exception, lovely and welcoming, and always helpful.
The pool area was nice, and there were plenty of beds if you weren’t bothered about sitting right next to the pool - which we weren’t. We did notice a large number of people by the pool who weren’t staying at the hotel, taking up space from those of us paying to stay there, which was a little annoying, as room rates were not cheap. We often couldn’t sit where we wanted to due to outside ‘guests’, especially at the weekend.
The vibe of the hotel is very much ‘anything goes’ and is very relaxed, which is great, until you’re woken at 3.30am on a Sunday by a party of, we guessed, no less than 50 people in the room next door but one. Security/the hotel didn’t seem to do anything about it and it carried on until sunrise. We saw the room the next day as we walked past and it was being industrially cleaned, so god knows what happened in there…
The food and drink at the hotel were incredibly expensive (even for LA) in comparison to other hotels of this calibre.
Would we stay again… yes, probably, but definitely not on a weekend!

The rooftop terrace and pool with their large mattresses are the saving grace of this hotel as this is what makes Petit Ermitage what it is. Without this I would have given it 2 stars at best.
The Room was large and comfortable (bed was great) but our bathroom was tiny relative to the size of the rest of the room. The view from the room was awful and the rooms we had were in serious need of renovation and the building is badly maintained (see pictures). We had paid around 350-400$ per room (we booked 2 rooms) but when i checked the prices nearer our arrival date the prices had more than doubled even though the hotel was far from full. If I had been paying 700-800$ I would have been seriously disappointed as it is definitely not worth it.
Petit Ermitage try for this Bohemian theme which they actually get away with pretty well but the mould on the windows, bad maintenance and very disappointing breakfast let them down. I had a room rate including breakfast but they quickly point out that this only includes a basket of bread which only includes some toast, and if you are lucky a croissant depending on the mood of the staff i guess. Coffee was bad and the coffee machine actually broke down on our second day so i had to get coffee in from outside.
Valet Parking is expensive at around 65$ a day but for this you can come and go as often as you like. According to the staff I asked there is no other option to park anywhere else so you basically have to use their valet parking.
This hotel is great for smokers as you're allowed to smoke freely on the roof terrace and at the pool. It was a bit odd to have guests smoke marihuana at the pool, even though we are from Amsterdam this is not something we see happen in hotels even here.

Hello! Or was you say in the Netherlands...Hallo! We have taken your comments onboard and thank you for them. We would like to point out that the mold you speak of is actually imported Bohemian Mold from Belgium, strategically placed around selected windows by the French Artist Jean-Pierre Moulde who prides himself on creating a feeling of 'this room has been lived in and anything is possible within it.' For what is a room if not lived in. Or as Jean-Pierre would say "un âne sans charrette ne tire pas de coups." We're not too sure what he means but think it has something to do with Donkeys. Jean-Pierre smokes a LOT of marijuana. We hope this clears things up for you. Au revoir.
