We relied on Trip Advisor to find us a place to sleep and eat north of Fort Bragg on Highway 1 and they delivered. This beautifully restored cozy, clean and charming little historic hotel set us up with a second floor room with an ocean view. Armed with a cold beer from the Old Abalone Pub on the first floor...

A last-minute trip meant all our possibilities in Fort Bragg were full up, so we went a little farther afield and found it a half-hour drive further up one of the more fantastic parts of Highway One. Since we wanted to stay for three nights, we were given Room 1 for two nights and then moved to another room on...

Dear Magdalena, We appreciate your candid constructive criticism and are taking measures to install an automatic timer in the hallway so that the light does not bother guests if a staff member neglects to turn it off at the end of a shift. The Westport Hotel is essentially a restored 1890's 'roadhouse' with all the quirks and old charm you...

My husband and I recently took a road trip and made it a point to stay at the Westport. The staff could not have been nicer. The room was spotless and the view was to die for. We stayed in Room 1. Cocktails in our room on the balcony, a short walk to the beach, then sauna and a shower....

This historic site with modern amenities and ultimate customer service is indeed a unique place to unplug from electronic overload: no cell phone coverage, no newspapers, no clocks in the room. If you go into withdrawal there is a wifi connection but we regarded the temptation. Cross the street for great beach access plus short distance to 10-mile beach and...

This recently restored 1890 hotel and restaurant is the perfect place for a getaway. The rooms (we stayed in the Fo'c'stl Room)are restored beautifully with brass door fittings throughout and polished wood floors in the restaurant. Nearly every room has a ocean view and access to an outside deck. There is even a sauna available just down the hall. We...

We found the Westport Hotel by chance on our way north along the coastline. What a gem! We were the only overnight guests so had our pick of the lovely rooms (hard to decide since all the rooms are beautiful!). This historic hotel and pub is completely and meticulously restored with lovely antique furnishings, all the amenities you could want...

I reserved the Rose room for 1 night on my solo trip up the coast. Westport Hotel was a perfect stopping point. Such a peaceful, quiet town on the coast, great place to be "off the grid" Staff was super. Service was impeccable. Be aware that you may be the only guest in the hotel so if that bothers you...

I stayed at the Westport hotel for a night. I was welcomed warmly by Dorine and Joy. Dorine, one of the owners, cooked me a hearty dinner that evening and the conversation with her over dinner was even more enjoyable. I was traveling off-season and had my pick of the rooms. Northwest is where I stayed with a killer view...

We arrived late just looking for a bed - not wanting to drive the dark and windy Hwy 1 late into the night. The price was a little steep for us but not unusual for nice places in California. The room was gorgeous, opening right out to the ocean. We were surprised to find complimentary chocolates and a split of...

MY wife and I drove from Seattle to Portland, then across to the 'lost coast. This was late last year. (Anyone with smarts goes North/South so you can see most everything). Anyhoo, we arrived in Westport,CA, late in the day. To our surprise and delight. we found a note saying "help yourself" to a room, "see you tomorrow.". We went...
