What a Great adventure. My husband and I were looking for a place that would just let us get away. This was it. We could spend the day walking the beach, tide-pooling or just sitting in the sand and reading. If we wanted more, as dinner in town, we just went down the road. It is not close, but close... More

From the moment I saw this place on the website, I knew it was the what our creator intended for us. My grown daughters, myself and my dog all stayed in the Walden Room. It was spacious, clean, comfortable and a work of art. This place has been a labor of love since Sally and Sunny arrived back in "the... More

My husband and I went here for our honeymoon and had a lovely time. The suite we stayed in was wonderful - the size of a small apartment and had lots of little down-home touches that made it feel truly welcoming, such as fairy lights around the kitchenette, a beautiful quilt on the bed, antique (or antique-looking) furniture in both... I am at a loss to understand how anyone could not like this place. The occasional negative review simply is not justified. Granted this is a ranch and isn't like a truly upscale, $400 a night B&B that you might find in Mendocino or Little River. Is that a bad thing? We stayed in the Beach House and loved it.... More

We stayed two nights, in the "Captains" room, which is huge. We hadn't been at Howard Creek for at least seven years - and we were impressed with the changes they've made. It is a continuing work in progress, and that's part of the fun, but the room we had, and another we peeked in, plus all of the extra... More

After seeing the Howard Creek Ranch website we decided that would be a perfect place for us to stay for our honeymoon. When we arrived we were a bit disappointed but thought'd it get better. No one was around. A note was scribbled on a piece of paper to call a number. We walked in and found a phone in... More

Hi, this is Sally Grigg finally answering this horrid review. Many things are a matter of opinion, but others are just plain fact. We are a farm with sixty acres. We do not sit at a desk waiting for you. We have a typed information sheet incased in plastic on the front door casing with a phone to use to... More

We read about Howard Creek Ranch online - we'd never been to that part of California and wanted somewhere where we could unwind - it had been a rough year, healthwise, for both me and my daughter. We checked the reviews carefully, looked the place over online, spoke directly with someone (sorry, it wasn't Sally but was her assistant and... More

Thank you for your lovely review. Just to re-assure people, no, it does not get hot here. The highest temerature is usually 75 or lower. We have no bug problem, including no mosquitoes, probably because of our closeness to the ocean. The bees are a welcome sight. As you may know, there is a major catastrophe happening whereby bees are... More

My husband and I are very familiar to the Ft Bragg, Ca. area and have stayed in several of the local hotels. This time we decided to stay in this Bed & Breakfast with some friends. It was a bit of a drive North of Ft Bragg but a very pretty one. When we arrived at the HCR we saw... More

My wife and I have been returning for several years with other friends - this place is quiet, cosy, and very much a nesting place. Common areas allow us to socialize - we love the pot belly stove! We arrive with food for lunches and dinner and use the small but functional cooking facilities (food bought in Fort Bragg, on... More

I feel the 60-acre Howard Creek Ranch offers simply the best of California's lost coast. It is rustic, intimate, remote and right on the ocean. Its owners clearly aim to retain the essence of the pioneer spirit that developed this land - and they succeed, in Sunny's exceptional hand-crafted wood, tile and land-maintenance work and Sally's decorating expertise, daily farmhouse...
