Forget the poor reviews regarding the castle...those people don't deserve such a special place. This was my third stay in the castle (the last was 9 years ago) and it is still my favourite place. If you are looking for a modern luxury base then this is not it. There is no elevator for example...it is a genuine medieval castle...

We recently stayed here for three nights in July. This castle/manor is a beautiful place to stay with absolute character and charm, great gardens and pool area, is quite acceptable/cool at night even in the height of summer due to its elevation. The staff and owners were wonderful and friendly and went out of their way to make people happy....

For a week at the end of April, Castello di Montegufoni was our base for exploring the Tuscan countryside and small walled villages plus Florence. We found it delightful! We love history and to be able to reside in this magnificent castle in an apartment was perfect for us. Each apartment is different, but all are appointed with everything one...

A castle with all the things you think a castle should have, secret passage ways, beautiful gardens, amazing views of the Tuscan country side and frescos everytime you looked up! I have done extensive travelling in my life so I wasn't expecting the normal comforts of my American homeland but I was pleased with the amenities. We love to buy...

Arriving at the castle from North America, we were awestruck by both the facility and the scenery. The check in process went relatively smoothly even though there was a slight language barrier. The level of customer service was as to be expected in Europe. Our room, the Guardianno, was massive. The only downfall to staying in that room was the...

You are staying in a castle, in Europe, with all the quirks of staying in a building built centuries ago. Therefore, a lot of history, and endless surprises some bad, but most good. The grounds are huge and lovely! And it is great location if you have a car to really explore the Chianti/Tuscan/Firenze areas. We had a room on...

This will give you a real-deal countryside experience. I absolutely loved the experience of staying in a castle and met interesting, adventurous people. I'm a poor sleeper and had requested the quietest room. I also have an issue with my beau, who is a loud snorer, so I asked if possible a little side room with a bed. We were...

We had a great stay at Montegufoni BECAUSE WE HAD READ THE CAVEATS. This is not a hotel, it doesn't have maid service, the restaurant is not 24/7, there is no elevator, etc. Having said that we enjoyed our stay. It was part of a package deal so we didn't exactly pick it;however, we felt we got good value. The...

My friend and I stayed here as part of a package deal. From reading reviews, we knew it was not a hotel and therefore not to expect hotel-like things. This is a vacation rental. They supply a little soap, shower gel, and a roll of toilet paper per bathroom. This was enough for us and we didn't run out. All...

We loved our stay in this beautiful castle! Two couples stayed in a four bedroom two bath apartment for a week. We knew before arriving this was NOT a hotel but a self catering apartment. We didn't have any problems and enjoyed meeting the other people staying there and comparing notes each day on their day trips! We went to...
