Along with the Ameristar, The Lodge's layout overall is more luxurious than others and it is one of the most crowded casinos in Black Hawk. It also gives you more of a "Vegas" feel.

However, it's expensive and the staff isn't terribly accommodating.
They have tight payouts, high buy-ins for table games, and a lot of their video poker and roulette games are high buy-ins. It's a very greedy casino. We visited at least 10 casinos during our weekend and I lost the most money at The Lodge.
It's also not all that convenient for the CC/BH tram shuttle. If you're coming into Black Hawk from Central City, I recommend getting off the shuttle at the Golden Mardi Gras because it winds up being an easier walk. If you're leaving Black Hawk and going into Central City and want to stop at The Lodge, get off the shuttle at the Ameristar and just walk across the street.

We played video poker on the back bar by the players club and had a great time! I went up for my birthday and the bartender that we met, Troy, was a breath of fresh air. He had a great attitude and seemed to really enjoy his job. My wife hates to gamble and even she was having a good time at the bar, thanks to Troy. He is an asset to your company and I hope that you give him the recognition that he deserves. The buttons on some of the video poker machines were sticky and didn't work very good. Some of the machines need some maintenance.

I have been a VIP player for a few years. Always recommended The Lodge & always won. Never did I go for a full weekend & not win a jackpot. Once in 2 day’s I won 9 another 7. Never had one complaint. My first trip up since Covid. Was reassured that machines were being cleaned frequently & if I wanted it cleaned just ask. Forget it! In 2 days I saw 2 people cleaning but just here & there. I cleaned my own machine including the chair. I did not feel safe! Casino was not very full so machines not being played a lot. Is that an excuse to have the tightest machines ever! I play high limit room & expect 1-3 jackpots. None! Not even any play! I will never play there again. This stay was a special invitation for VIPs. Most VIPs play high limit slots & expect them to be a tad looser especially a $100 machine! Nothing! I use to win a lot but also lost a lot but it was OK cuz I knew I’d win good next day. Not anymore!

I have stayed numerous times at hotels in Black Hawk, no problems. This is the first time I stayed at The Lodge Casino. When I made a reservation, I spike clearly via telephone to the reservation clerk. I told her I need a non smoking room from 30 Dec 23 to 1Jan 24. I asked her numerous questions, she said I was good to go for those days. I arrive on Saturday 30 December to check in for the room. I spoke to this desk clerk asking her questions again. I was not informed about anything else, she said to me, enjoy your stay.
I wake up Sunday December 31st, My family ventured out to get breakfast around Black Hawk, now anyone whom been in Blackhawk, is aware a personal phone does not get a good signal.
Here is the part that Frustrate me. I'm sitting at breakfast with my family, I get a missed call, from the Lodge Casino clerk saying my family's belongings has been taken out of the room "FRUSTRATING". I'm wondering why? Are my belongings taken out of my room. I immediately rush to the check in desk, only to be told, by the clerk we have your belongings, at this point I'm feeling violated, someone gathered my family belongings.
I was told on Sunday 31st December, it was a black out day! There are only 50 rooms in the lodge. " Why does this matter to me how many rooms are in this casino" I should have been told about this at the time of making the reservation on the phone and in person WHEN I CHECKED IN!😡
Now my time with my family has been cut short instead of leaving on the 1st, we left on December 31st, cause I was truly upset.

I was playing blackjack and the dealer kept telling me to hit or stay like I don't know how to play or something. When I didn't listen to her she became aggressive and snapped at me telling me that's not what I'm supposed to do? What? I've been playing blackjack for years and I don't appreciate being told how to bet or play! Is the game rigged at this casino? I would say so. This place use to be fun but I've noticed a definite decline in the way staff acts to their patrons and it's unfortunate and unacceptable. I felt like they act like your money already belongs to them with no regard for customer service. Also the slot games were dirty ( old drinks left behind with smudges and grime on slot surfaces) also with missing chairs at a lot of them I hope people wake up and stop supporting this casino. I know I won't be back, when staff treats you like they hate you there is a very bad dysfunction in the way they practice business ethics.

I wanted to play a certain machine that the Lodge only has 2 of. They were occupied so I walked around until someone left. I returned to play one and the lady was playing both machines and it was pretty crowded. I asked if I could play one she said "no" I told her it was busy and she shouldn't be playing 2. She kept telling me go tell the manager. With the way she was acting against me I did go tell a manager. He said they shouldn't be playing 2 machines and asked me where. I showed him to the machine and he turned around and said oh she can play 2 machines which he said in front of her, boy did that embarrass me, so I left the Lodge to go play in another casino. Do the rules only apply to certain people?
After I left I thought about it and realized that 2 machines were next to each other, and both were working, so I guess they are not thinking of Covid-19! Now I am glad I did not sit next to her because I am at high risk, but I am still very embarrassed and wondering if I should go back.

The buffet is way overpriced.
Their comp program is one of the worst Ive ever encountered. I’ve been there numerous times over the last couple years and their comp program said only twice. Contacted casino hosts about the card issue with only pit bosses seeming to support what I was saying. But the hosts not really having a concern for the issue. Always saying they’d get the card fixed but to no avail. Will never step foot in the place again!

We have been to the Lodge a few times, visiting the blackjack tables. The staff in the pit are very unprofessional. Noticed a woman working in the pit, whispering to a blackjack dealer, looking over her shoulder. This woman was very unprofessional in her actions, and the way she presented herself. She as well as some other people there were also looking at people that they brought up on the computer, in plain sight so everyone could see. Patrons maybe? Leave these action for the office not on the casino floor. Will we go back, no, probably not. I have never noticed this kind of behavior at the Ameristar or the Monarch.

We came for an afternoon of Black Jack and lunch. The buffet was very good, but expensive for lunch. The casino is large, and he had a great time (I don’t gamble, so I was bored).
Parking was easy, but it’s a long drive in to get to Black Hawk. It’s definitely worth a stop.
