Our room was clean and looked to have been recently renovated; however, not a lot to boast about ...no table/chair in the room which was weird because there's a kitchen area (which also didn't have any kitchen stuff in it), TV didn't work properly (had to unplug it to turn off), shower water was lukewarm at best, wi-fi was sketchy (but maybe that's the area), room overall didn't have a lot of lighting...the views were beautiful and the ride to the place amazing but that's about it. Oh, the guy at the store that oversees the rooms was nice.

I stayed at the Coyote Motel, also known as Gold Dust Lodge, and Gold Dust Village, the nights of Sept 2 and 3, 2014. The location is 5312 hwy. 119, Blackhawk, CO – one mile from Blackhawk on south 119. In the morning after my 2nd night, I woke up with what I thought were mosquito bites on my left arm, hand, neck, and face. I checked out of the motel, and during the day, more bites were cropping up, welts were forming, and the itch was, believe it or not, more intense than chigger bites! That night I researched on the net, to learn that I had become a tasty morsel for bed bugs! I was miserable. I called the motel for three days, trying to speak with the manager, Char. We finally made phone contact, I expressed the bed bug infestation, of which she tried to deny, saying that the maid hadn’t seen anything, etc. We finally agreed that she would post a credit to my Discover card for $86, ½ the rate for 2 nights. Come to find out that she only credited $44! The experience has taught me to always check the net to ensure there are no bed bug reviews for a motel.

$139 per night for a hotel that lacks a lot. We stayed in room 7 and there were dead bugs on the bathroom counter, the heater was broke and dirty, you had to hold down on the toilet handle for 15 seconds or greater to get it to flush, the bed was very uncomfortable, there wasn't enough parking, and the showerhead pelted you and there was no way to change any settings on the showerhead.

On the bright side, the staff person who checked us in was very pleasant. Except when I checked out, the clerk was talking on the phone about somebody in the hospital, took my key while talking on the phone, and didn't say a thing.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Camp out in a tent, you will probably enjoy that better. The room was not worth the money.

We stayed here because everywhere else was full, it was scary after reading the reviews, but didn't want to drive drunk down the canyon so we braved it. When we got there we tore the bed apart didn't find bed bugs, the tv didn't work at first, tell we pluged it in. The shower had hot water, and the shuttle driver was very nice.

Where to start... Our GPS in our rental didn't recognize the address, so we called the hotel looking for directions. The woman who answered the phone told us to look for the medical marijuana dispensary, and that's where the front office is located. We should have taken that as the first sign and just kept driving. When we finally pulled in, we couldn't check in because the staff was checking on a tenant who had been staying there for 2 months. Red flag? We still proceeded to check in. BAD IDEA! When we got to our room, we were shocked. The door was essentially about the same thickness as 2 pieces of cardboard stuck together. We could hear every noise on the highway below us. The bathroom was abhorrent, at best. We sat on the bed for 2 seconds and thought that it was going to fall apart. I then pulled back the sheets, grabbed my keys, yelled at my husband and left. We were NOT spending part of our honeymoon there! We asked for a refund since we never stayed, but the staff was downright disrespectful. We stayed at the Lady Luck, and am so glad we did after reading the bed bugs review. RUN AWAY!

139 dollars for a hotel room, should have been a high dollar hotel. This was the same as the 35 dollar a night interstate rat holes.
The doors were vary poorly maintained, and I believe could have easily been broken into. Also the room keys were not a standard hotel room key, it was just like any house key. Most hotel keys say DO NOT DUPLICATE on them. Anyone could have taken this key to a hardware store, copied it, then had free access to a hotel room at a later time when another guest was staying there.
The room was very dirty, tv did not work well, and bed was like sleeping on a rock. There was a nasty order outside the hotel room, make me think there was a septic problem also.
Worst part of the stay was that the hot water did not work. I had to take a cold shower in the morning, and when I asked for a partial refund do to that experience i got told by the woman at the front office, that it was not their fault that their water did not work, and refused any refund.
Avoid this hotel at all cost.

What a complete dump! Stayed there last night sight unseen and regretted ever second of our stay. The place was dirty, filled with the scourge of the earth, overpriced and bug ridden. We should have looked at the room before booking because their website lies about the place. I wish I could post pictures because I have a ton showing how horrible this place is. I also got bit up by bugs in the room and took off my shoes and my feet got dirty from their carpet. The sheets were wrinkly underneath and I pray they were actually washed. The blanket was probably 20 years old and falling apart. The air conditioner didn’t work and the buttons were falling off the unit. They didn’t have a phone so you could call and tell anyone anything and no WiFi. So since you are in an area where your phone doesn’t work you are SOL on trying to call out. The toothless lady at the front desk was rude and she got the “owner” on the line and he is going to “check out the room” on Tuesday. We will see. $163.00 for a room that should have been $15 or maybe even condemned is ludicrous. Beware of this place unless you want to bring back something that you hadn’t bargained for. Check it out before you stay and rethink it. You would be better off going up into Blackhawk and staying at one of the casinos instead. BEWARE!!!!!!!!

They don’t have any pics of rooms because they are ashamed of them also. I only took a few and the lighting actually made the pictures look better than the place looked. DO NOT GO HERE TO SAVE YOUR LIFE.

We stayed here for 3 nights. The room was your average motel room. The most fancy thing in the room was the log bed. The mattress sucked like you would expect, the bathroom was old, like you would expect, the view was ehhh like you would expect. However, it was pretty quiet, the staff was nice, and the there is a liquor store right on site. So, just to get away from the hustle bustle, it wasn't bad.

Bedbugs discovered after 10 of 30 days paid ahead by credit card. Looked clean, although 1950's bookkeeping by hand and manual arithmetic by front desk. Has not refunded my credit card, refused. Denied that any other rooms effected, although I observed housekeeping staff carrying contractor bags out of another room and was told on initial report(and dead bug and numerous bites) was told by manager "OH No!! We just had another room call with the same complaint!" LATER DENIED!!!! Spent the next two days disinfecting my things. Currently challenging charges thru cc company with no cooperation from this motel. Stay at your own risk.

We had been at this hotel south of BlackHawk CO back in 2008 & 2009. At that time it was the Gold Dust and was a cute, well maintained little country Motel with homey pinewood home décor, moose lamps, Colorado pictures on the walls...very clean and tidy. The liquor store was there at the time, now they've added the marijuana place.....should have known by that, that perhaps this was not the place for us any longer ! Price was also about $65 at that time in the fall. I knew that the motel had changed hands and unfortunately did not read many reviews of it for the last few years under the Coyote management. That was a mistake. We arrived, room was $90 on a Wednesday nite (I asked for our AARP discount, and the guy said it was only a $2 discount....most places give you 10%) and I new from before to ask for a room in the back away from the highway. So we booked one nite to stay anyway, as thought the casino hotels would be in the $150's. Gone in the room was all of the homey-ness. It was basically stripped down to bare bones.....just the pinewood bed (that people had carved stuff into---tacky! , a chair, side table.....TV was hung on the wall and was a newer flat screen. You could see on the walls where pictures had been taken down and the overall appearance of the place was that it was not very well maintained any longer....from the rooms to the grounds. And the doors and locks left a lot to be desired! Would not have kept anyone out who wanted to get in. We went up to the casino area in BlackHawk and went into the Ameristar casino and hotel. Asked at the desk just out of curiosity if they had rooms available and rate.....guess what .....$97! I had no idea that they would be so affordable. I would have much rather stayed at the beautiful Ameristar! But too late. The Coyote certainly lacks the charm and cleanliness of the previous owners of the Gold Dust. If you go to Black Hawk....be sure to check out the rates on the Casino hotels, as during the week in the fall, they seem to be available with good rates.
