We had a family trip of 9 people staying here (including 2 small children). Beautiful lodge, beautiful views, amazing amenities such as hot tub right out the back door of the main building where we stayed in a 3 bedroom condo and also hot tub and pool right across on the other side of the property. The ski-in benefit was amazing! The 4 o'clock run, right off Peak 8 takes you to the gondola ski back and leads you to the back door of the lodge. It couldn't get any better than that. Some reviews on here speak of how expensive it is and not being worth it for the money but in my opinion, and my entire family agreed-this WAS worth the money. You get what you pay for. A few things I wish I knew so I will give details here: IDEAL location. Right out the back door is the underground walkway across the street to get to the gondola and main street where all the shops/restaurants are. The condo is well-appointed: Beds were comfy, (even the sofa bed!) it was nice to have the 2 master suites and a separate bathroom in the hallway for others to use as well. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, cookware, utensils, small appliances, etc. pretty much anything you can think of that you might need. Nice to have washer and dryer in the condo as well, especially with little kids who get dirty, wet/snowy clothes, etc. They provide you with laundry detergent, dish soap, dishwasher detergent, paper towels, garbage bags, and coffee filters so no need to worry about bringing those things.

We recently stayed at Mountain Thunder Lodge for a week long stay in Breck. We were in a townhome which afforded our family of 4 plenty of space to spread out. There was a K. bed with attached bath for one bedroom and a second bedroom with a queen bed and attached bath. There was also a sleeper sofa, which we decided to use. I would agree that the kitchen utensils, etc. were a little on the sparse side, but there was enough for what we needed. The townhome's garage was heated. It had high ceilings and a nice sized porch.

The townhomes are up the hill a bit from the main lodge/check-in. You can take the 4 o'clock/Gondola run as you ski down and then walk up to the townhomes. You could walk to the Gondola as well, but the shuttle is super convenient. The townhomes were a bit farther away from the gondola than the condos (maybe a 4-5 block walk?). The condos were slightly closer.

In a reservation mistake on our friends' part, they ended up in the condos. While they said they had adequate space, they felt the townhomes were newer and a but more spacious. The outdoor pool and two hot tubs was in between the condos and townhomes.

While staying here, we also took the shuttle to One Ski Hill Place and used the indoor pool and hot tubs, as well as the bowling alley. We were allowed to make reservations for the bowling alley 24 hours in advance and since there were 8 of us, we had both lanes to ourself. The kids loved it. While One Ski Hill Place looked a bit more posh, we all agreed we liked the location of Mountain Thunder. It was within easy walking distance to town (whereas One Ski Hill Place would've required you drive or shuttle). Mountain Thunder is super close to the entrance into town as well making it really convenient to get in and out of Breck.

The condos and townhomes are both maybe showing a bit of age/wear and tear, with the townhomes appearing to be a but newer. However, for our purposes, it was perfect and we would definitely book and stay here again!

In November 2024 my wife and I booked a ski trip at Mountain Thunder Lodge for a week in January 2025. Unfortunately, just before Christmas an out of control skier at Stowe Mountain Resort ran into me, breaking my leg in multiple places. The accident required surgery and the insertion of plates and screws. Mountain Thunder Lodge has a very strict cancellation policy and initially refused either to refund the cost of our stay (which we paid up front) or to extend our stay to the following year. However, Dustin Stokes of Breck Hospitality ultimately stepped in and bent over backwards to apologize and to ensure that the cost of our planned trip was refunded to us. Dustin was professional, courteous and understanding. Hopefully, I’ll be able to ski again by next year. If so, we will not hesitate to book our stay with Mountain Thunder Lodge.

I am writing this review as we are checking out at 8:30am on Tuesday, July 2. We were very disappointed in our stay for our family reunion which had 20 people and we stayed 3 nights.

Be aware there Is NO AC. They do provide 2 box fans for your room but for a 2-bedroom condo this was not useful. Our fridge was not working properly and we had to move all of our meat to the freezer to keep it safe. Also, we discovered the window valence in the main room was broken and one of the pieces was placed behind the sleeper couch and we had a broken slat in the shades.

Also, we were not informed till we checked in on a piece a paper, not by the woman who checked us in that there is no “daily” housekeeping and for a fee you could have housekeeping even if it was just taking out your old towels and garbage.

When I called downstairs they said they would send someone right up but took the very rude maintenance man 3 hours to come look at it. When he did get to our room he was very condescending and said the fridge must have been left open as his temperature gun was saying the fridge was in a safe zone but did say moving the meat to the freezer was good to do.

Also, we came back to our room every night to discover our room was full of weed smell. We did let front desk know and they said there was nothing they could do if they were smoking outside of their rooms. Mind you, we were on the 3rd floor.

We also asked Aubrey at the front desk if there was any kind of breakfast in the resort since there was a large room with tables and catering equipment setup and was told no I don’t think so but you probably don’t want to eat what we make and you are better off going into town to have breakfast.

Also, we discovered that there is black mold
In the primary bathroom above the door frame that appeared to have been painted over.

Upon checking out on 7/2, I explained to Sean of my concerns and he was very apologetic but said we should have called them to let them know of the weed smell we should have called the front desk and I said we we did.

For what we paid for our stay, it was quite disappointing and we will never stay here again.

So word to the wise: if you think, based on the prices, that this is a luxury resort by a ski area, think again. It’s a bunch of condos stocked with kitchenettes that have old pans and very few supplies and showers without water pressure and one old washing machine and dryer per floor. You have to pay a lot - $60-$80 - for basic cleaning that comes with hotels, and if you ask for a broom you don’t get a dustpan. But you can get your trash picked up and some towels if you want to pretend that is service. The “gym” has almost nothing in it and they don’t open it until 7 am because it “might disturb guests” which tells you how cheaply the building is insulated. One hot tub per building, which is tiny and outside. There are “free shuttles” around the resort which are unreliable. The staff treats anyone asking questions, including kids, like annoying Karen. The ski hills are gorgeous and the location does allow you to walk to the gondola. But if I did it again l would stay further out and drive in rather than pay luxury hotel prices without luxury.

This is an excellent location. Unfortunately Vail resorts does not do a very good job maintaining these condos. Upon checking in we discovered the sofa bed was altogether missing the mattress and we were unable to use the bed or the couch for the entire stay. Vail resorts refunded us $400 total, which they said, was the difference between a three bedroom and two bedroom for four nights.

Also broken were the coffee maker, two humidifiers, and the downstairs shower drain was clogged, which we fixed ourselves. When we used the sister facilities at One Ski Hill Place - the bowling alley was broken and the pool had zero towels after calls from several patrons.

We also discovered that if you walk across Main street to rent your skis, they are 25% of the cost that Vail resorts charges. Overpriced and terrible customer service.

Most of the resort is staffed by foreign nationals who are there for a few months to work and make as much money as possible. There’s not a lot of pride being taken in this business from the top down.

Definitely will not be staying here again.

Mountain Thunder Lodge, a Vail Resorts Management Company property, are aware that their roller shades offer ZERO privacy at night.
That's right. Both bedrooms and the living room are totally visible to anyone on the patio next door, in the neighboring buildings, or walking or driving by.

We stayed here for our teen daughter's spring break during the first week of April. From inside, we had no idea that at night anyone outside can see right in. We had ZERO privacy and didn't realize until the end of our stay.

We spoke with management regarding this and their solution was to offer a maintenance person to come hang a sheet over the inside of our windows. They refused to move us or change out the blinds. They also refused to take any responsibility and claimed it was up to the actual condo owner to alert us that any random person in a neighboring condo, or walking or driving on the street could see right into our condo at night.

We rented the condo directly from Mountain Thunder Lodge, a Vail Resort at Breckenridge. We have no idea who actually owns the condo.

They did offer to refund us the $30 daily resort fee. We spent $4,000 on our one week stay. They also had the audacity to charge us an extra $175 when we asked for a late checkout.

Guests should have every expectation of privacy in bedrooms. This resort clearly does not care about the safety and well-being of their guests.

We also asked management to have a representative of their legal team contact us. It has been 10 days since we checked out and we have not heard from anyone.
I cannot recommend this resort and would give it zero stars if I could.

Worst experience we have ever had. We were loyal customers for 5 years in a row. When we checked in for our room with 7 guests and a bill of over $5000 they gave our Renovated room away because they “do not guarantee” any requests made my the customer. We called several times to state that we wanted a renovated room weeks before we even got there. We requested a renovated room 4 months in advance and were denied that when we checked in. The manager Erica was extremely rude and aggressive from the start. She lacks customer service, has no idea what being a manger entails and because of her we will not be going back. It is disappointing that loyal customers get treated like this at Mountain thunder lodge. We then requested to speak to another manager who had to travel from another hotel to help us. Once she arrived all of a sudden a renovated room was available and given to us. What we went through was unacceptable and if I could give them ZERO stars I would. I would not recommend anyone staying here unless you want to stay in a dirty old out dated condo for the same price. What the staff needs is a lesson in customer service. Due to their incompetency they have now lost loyal customers as we will never stay here again.

We stayed here only one night in a deluxe studio.
First the positives . It is a very attractive property which is well kept up. Our studio was well appointed. The furniture was nice and all was well maintained and very clean. We had a full kitchen which we did not use.
No where did it say that we would have to sleep on a Murphy bed . Trust me it was not comfortable. I would not attempt to do anything but try and sleep on it since it had so little support.
There is no a/c. We were lucky it was 47 outside. We needed the windows open and the fan on and heat off to keep it comfortable. I cannot imagine staying here in the summer.
The “ heated “ pool was nice except it was cold. Other places we visited on this trip covered their pools at night to keep them warm.
Plus we were here in fall and at $257.00 per night it was no bargain even though Breckinridge is a nice town and worth seeing.

We stayed at Mountain Thunder in a 2 bedroom and a 1 bedroom condominium between Christmas and NYE (Dec 28-Jan 1, 2022.) We had 9 people which included 3 children ages 1, 2, and 6. The hotel was perfect for our large family which included 6 skiers and 3 non skiers. There was parking and ski storage under the hotel which made it so easy to ski I /out. Also it was less than a 10 minute walk to Main Street, but they also had a shuttle to several popular locations. The lobby had coffee/cookies complimentary in the morning and a small area for convenience items to purchase. We used 2 of the four hot tubs and the staff went above and beyond in helping us! The condos were spacious and well stocked. We are glad we chose this complex!

Our condo had a queen bed but be careful of management as they lie. The hike to the gondola was almost have a mile including stairs and a climb up from the tunnel. This is clearly not ski out despite the descriptions otherwise. The public areas are old and tired.

Hi, Given our High -Alpine environment, moderate temperatures, and cool evenings, air-conditioning is fairly uncommon in Breckenridge and is not something our units are equipped with.
