The service was excellent, friendly, helpful. Loved the 2 bedroom set up. Very, very clean. No bugs. Love the cabin stay. Wildlife in the mornings was nice to wake up to a deer checking you out. Location is great. Love the river right outside. Nice place to sit by the river. Convenient! Would highly recommend.

The cabins were very clean, cute, and "the keys were in the door". It was exactly what we needed. Close to our "outdoor" activities and Buena Vista was a cute little town. Only concern was getting ahold of the owners to settle our bill. We tried daily (stayed 3 days) at different times of the day, to settle but the...

Stayed at Thunder Lodge for 2 nights main reason we stayed is that they are pet friendly didn't know exactly what to expect but they had great reviews, after staying there I know why they get such great reviews. Have stayed in a lot of older rustic cabins through out the years can't ever say I have ever been in...

A group of friends and I spent 2 nights here in early March and LOOOOVED every minute of it. Buena Vista is a great town in a great part of the state and Thunder Lodge is a quaint but comfortable option if you're looking for your base camp. The log cabins, more affordable than most hotel rooms, definitely give you...

My wife and I have been looking for the perfect winter fun spot with a rustic style cabin. We found it! Thunder Lodge is centrally located in Buena Vista, the cabins are clean and cozy, and it is very family friendly. One small touch that is very welcome is a red binder listing all the different activities you can do...

Comfortable bed Next to a nice creek Now the bad things: $50 fee if you don't take out...

We were looking for a cozy weekend getaway to relax and visit hot springs. We sure found just that at Thunder Lodge! We love the cabin setting-sure beats the typical hotel! If you want to be waited on and have everything done for you then you should look elsewhere. But this is exactly what we love. The cabins are clean,...

We rented a cabin at Thunder Lodge for a fall leaf-viewing trip and we loved it! We had 2 bedrooms; a comfortable living room; nice, if somewhat small, bathroom' and a tiny but adequate kitchen. Our only problem was that the stove wasn't fully functional, and the dorm-size refridgerator meant we had to shop every day. The coziness of the...

The whole cabin idea is great, although cabin #2 needs some serious updating. The pillows are flat as pancakes, the shower stall was circa 1970's!!! The light switch in the kitchen was faulty (made me very nervous to flip it!). The cleaning crew needs to be educated on cleaning, there was a used bandaid left for us in the shower!!!!...

My husband and I stayed at Thunder Lodge while we were in Buena Vista. At first we were going to go to Gunnison, however found a place to rent a Jeep to do some back country sight seeing. We did not have a reservation so we checked at one of the "large hotel chains" and they were so expensive and...

“Room tip: don't stay there”
livinglife66, 22 Oct 2016 | Read review
“These are cabins, not hotel rooms, so your best bet is just to call the management staff directly. I stumbled across their site via Craigslist. Sometimes that can mean a place is sketchy...in this instance it was just a property owner keepin it local. This is a real gem of a find and I think if your expectations are line line you'll feel the same way.”

“Check out the photos on-line before choosing your cabin. The ones by the river have no mountain views but are more private. The ones with the views are on city streets but still quiet.”
