Everyone very welcoming and professional. Chuck the manager as most helpful. We had the most fun time. Went to the Grillfor dinner and after breakfast. It was delicious! We will definitely be back! The room was beautiful and the shower was great. Extremely clean and everything worked.

I was not that impressed with this hotel for several reasons. The bed was super hard and uncomfortable as the mattress felt as if it was warped. The pillows were super soft and gave no head support at all. The room A/C took a while to cool the room up and it was a sweat box until it finally cooled down several hours later. The bathroom door was much on the way of taking care of business and the bathroom itself was pretty small which it did not help with the door situation. We used both the cafe and the restaurant and the food was cold when it was served. The coffee was served luke warm at best. The food price was fair and the food itself was okay. Needless to say, I was not pleased with my experience here as I was expecting to have a good night sleep and I did not. Moreover, my experience and stay at other hotel/casino properties were far superior than this one (this one set the bar pretty low). I most definitively do not recommend this property.

Now the Maverick (Johnny Sold), they are keeping the name for a while it appears. Needless to say, I haven’t stayed since it was the Reserve. I will say Johnny Z did a nice remodel on the casino and restaurant portion. The casino has a nice layout with great lighting. For slot players a nice mix of new and old machines. For table games they are brighter and nicer. They got rid of the music venue which opened up a bunch of room for a sports book with awesome couches! On a Friday night the place wasn’t too crowded, or didn’t feel like it anyway. We ate breakfast their and I will say what seems like for a buck or two more you get a breakfast with huge portions that will fill you up for the day. I like the new cozy booth style as they used to be a wide opened seating area. Everything, was great! The rooms are still tiny but you can see where they did do some upgrades. Casino/Hotels sometimes get a bad rap as people tend to write on rather, they have won or lost, basing their review on emotion. This is straight up honesty. If you like a quiet place to come stay and gamble, you found it. If you’re coming up with your buddies and plan on jamming 3 or 4 people in the room, you will be disappointed. Also, the whole town is struggling to find help. They have done a good job of spreading associates out, so you don’t really notice. Anyway, welcome to Colorado Maverick! I’m glad you’re here!

I was really excited to see what Blackhawk was about 1st visit and will be the last.
1. We went to the grill and we ordered our drinks then sat there for almost 30 minutes and no one asked if we needed to order a couple came in about 5 minutes after us and was receiving their food I got up and went down to the deli and a lady asked what we wanted to order I explained that I wanted to order upstairs she ended up comping our meal good thing it was free cause the prime rib was chewy and the baked potato had foil pieces in it.
2. There was no coffee anywhere in the building and when you tried to get a drink from a waitress she said go sit at a machine or go to the bar.
3. I came for my birthday spent 500 bucks and it was the worst time I just went to my room and did what I could have done at home.
I won't be recommending or coming back
Worst place ever.
Oh one plus the room was clean.

I was there today and went to check menu for prices and the lady told me it was $11.00. Came back at 11:20 and now price is $22 which includes: soup, salad, 4 bites of turkey, 4 bites of ham and green beans which were too hard to eat. AND Pecan pie which I asked as a to go. Got home and anxious to eat my pie and what I found in my bag was an empty container...
ALL THIS FOR A MERE $22 AND should have been $11.
I even left a good tip....silly me.

Room was clean and the hotel is in a good location, however the price is super high for the quality of room and stay (no coffee pot in the room, only two big towels, etc). The hotel was also one of the noisiest places I have ever stayed- you could hear every word of the band downstairs and every conversation from anyone who walked by. One of the worst nights sleeps I’ve had in a long time which was a little sad considering the $249 nightly price tag.

We've stayed here on several occasions and always found it moderately prices and quiet but that may be because we stay mid-week. Since it is the Grand Z and no longer called the Reserve, we found little change. Seems to me that when it was the Reserve they had coffee in the room. Now you have to dress, go down stairs and hunt up the free coffee bar. The beds were good and he room was clean. The only negative comment I have is the shower. There is nothing to hold onto and the floor of the shower gets slick. Very Dangerous so beware!

During a holiday weekend in Central City and Black Hawk, my gf and I wrapped up our night at the Grand Z and I was pretty impressed! We stayed at the Century Casino as opposed to the Grand Z, but I would be comfortable staying here too. There's a solid gambling experience with multiple floors of casino machines, as well as restaurants available. There's also a stop for the CC/BH tram shuttle and the big charter buses.

Don't come for the food! Picture from today's Labor Day Barbecue. The place was packed with hungry players expecting a barbecue, but the food ran out early. It's happened before. You play for points to get the free barbecue, but they run out.
Why, when there is a fully stocked kitchen just yards away, wouldn't they simply restock the barbecue from their kitchen?
This is what was left: lettuce, peanut butter cookies (yuck) and macaroni salad

On a recent trip to Colorado, where we would normally stay in Black Hawk, we decided to try the Grand Z for a couple of nights. Parking was easy, checking in was simple and the room was certainly nice enough. The casino was modern and we enjoyed the restaurant as well. Service was great from the bell desk, bartenders and the folks running the tables also. It wasn't terribly busy and I'm surprised more people don't use this great facility.
