I was so happy to find a great-looking place online in Manitou Springs, CO, that was so close to everything I wanted to see and do and had such great reviews. I checked in and got things arranged in the room. I had dinner and by the time I got back to my room, was feeling queasy. I went to bed after taking some Tums, but eventually was very sick all night. Got up next morning and thought a nice hot shower would make me feel better. The only ventilation in the small bathroom was a window inside the shower. It took me forever to crank it open because it needed some WD40 to get it open. But I washed my hair and as I was leaning back to rinse it, I looked up and there was mold on the ceiling in one corner and mold in places in the middle of the ceiling, and more mold in the other corner of the ceiling!!! I started looking around and those decorative mint green border tiles were filthy. I took a piece of wet toilet paper and made a clean spot and took a picture of it. I did the same thing behind the bathroom door on those tiles. Still filthy. To my left of the sink, there were 2 dark hairs (mine are.red) stuck to the wall, and just above that, there were dead flies or gnats stuck to the upper corner and around the light fixture.😱😱 I also have pictures of that. Behind the front door was an electrical panel which was painted white, but the top part was dark brown. I rubbed a clean spot with more wet toilet paper and took a picture of that as well. I had already paid in advance for the nights I was going.to be there, and there is a no cancellation policy. However, I repacked everything and loaded my vehicle and went down to the office to complain. After I showed them the pictures I had taken, they gave me my money back. I will never stay there again. I am allergic to mold and dust and that was just UNSatisfactory!!!…
My stay was for 1 short night, arriving late and leaving early. Finding the accommodation would have been easier without the road works and had it been daytime. Check in (& check out) was quick, efficient and lacking in automation. There was 1 parking space left so possibly got lucky or possibly by design. Room was clean and the two 'blokes' drinking in the shared veranda looked harmless. Breakfast was basic. In summary, it suited my needs but won't suit everyone.
Our plans to stay a night with friends fell through so we had to hurriedly find an available room in a busy tourist area. We love small independents as opposed to chain motels. This one, in a strip of older motels in the section of Colorado Springs right near Garden of the Gods and other attractions, happened to have one room left. Spacious and clean, a comfy bed, covered carport parking and a well-stocked kitchenette made for a comfortable stay. Too bad we only had one night here! The breakfast area was spacious and clean with a decent selection. All-in-all, if you are a nostalgia buff and don't mind skipping the Holiday Inn, highly recommend!
I can't imagine how all these other travelers gave this place 4 stars or even 3 for that matter. It needs updating. Badly. The baseboards in my room were peeling. The sheets were a mess beneath the bedspread; meaning I wasn't sure they'd been changed, and as another traveller expressed, there were 1/2 inch gaps under and around the door to the room. I can say the bathroom was clean, but there was dust on the lamps and a big cobweb in one corner of the room. The breakfast was coffee, packaged pastries and small bagels with a some fruit. The lobby and breakfast area seemed clean and were nice enough, but I would never stay here again, and I stay at a lot of mom and pop type places. This one is in need of an update!
Clean, comfortable room. Very nice pool area. Chairs & benches outside room to relax and enjoy weather and view. Continental breakfast basic but sufficient. Good value for price and very pleasant stay.
