This is NOT The Broadmoor. Broadmoor was full and this was supposedly the next best thing in town. These are my least favorite kind of “resorts”. It is located in a residential area with privileges to the country club next door, kind of feels like you are staying at your cousins apartment and are a guest at their athletic club. Property is in much need of maintenance. Whole place looks like family summer camp. Grounds are poorly maintained, dead grass, weird over grown garden patch, and desperately needs painted. There was a loose board on our patio that could potentially be danger for a child or pet to fall through from the 3rd floor. We declined housekeeping as they didn’t come until 4:30pm and room service trays were outside adjacent rooms for a full day. Beware the “water sports” offered are on a tiny golf course pond. The only staff we interacted with was the front desk and they were very helpful and nice. Overall, would not recommend this resort.

The Pros: The resort it's self was nice. Several different pools, a large outdoor pool with a view of the mountains with a large hot tub. Towels were available there. Also another very large pool of in the aquatic area with lanes for laps and slide for kids. There was an indoor pool and a small adult only pool and hot tub there as well. The grounds were pretty and nice view of the mountains from everywhere. Nice tennis courts and golf course. Lake with a beach area including seating! Lobby area had an outdoor seating area with a large fire pit that was nice to sit by at night. Food at the bar on site was reasonable and decent. Starbucks on site. They mailed me back my prescription glasses I forgot! The Cons: The room themselves were decent, but nothing fancy. The rooms AC seemed to be pushing to keep up and it was little warmer than I prefer sometimes (I like it about 69 degrees though). If you need to call any area while here or off site it is hard to reach anyone>

We were there for 2 nights to attend a wedding. Our room was fine but was larger than many of the other standard rooms, so I'd recommend asking for the 'Dove' building. The air conditioning and TV were great, and the rest of the room was pretty good although it could have been cleaner. The views are very nice if you have the right room, and we were lucky enough to have one of those. The resort was kind of fully open, but bars and restaurants had limited hours. The food at the wedding reception was very good, the pre-dinner appetizers were not great. Bar service at the reception was very good. It didn't feel as much like a resort as other places we've been to. Seldom was there someone at the front door and even the front desk wasn't always attended to. Many in our group were not put in the buildings that were supposed to be identified for our 'group'. The staff was OK, but again just didn't feel like most resorts. We had a map showing where the pool and beach were and they were nice. That area is shared with club members which made it much busier, but there was ample room for everyone on the days we were there. All in all it was fine, but for over $300 a night I would expect more.

We stayed a night here to celebrate our anniversary. With resort fees and such my bill came to over $300 for a standard king bed room. There was nothing specifically wrong with our room but the quality of the rooms is very average commuter hotel. The décor and amenities were bland. Our room overlooked a parking lot so the deck wasn't super appealing. There were only 2 restaurants and the offerings were again bland (bar food quality) so we went out of the resort for dinner. When we got back, everything was closed. No pools or music. The bar was filled with a private event so we enjoyed the fire on the deck for a bit then sat in our bland room for the rest of the evening. Not remotely romantic. The breakfast offerings were disappointing so we grabbed a muffin from their convenience store and took a stroll before checking out. Pretty disappointing considering we were there for a romantic getaway. Last year we did the Crawford at Union Station in Denver. We did a package and still paid less. We had access to fine dining, a load of amenities, a beautiful modern room, great nightlife options, breakfast in bed from Snooze, etc. The train station atmosphere was perfect for a romantic weekend. Considering the Cheyenne Mountain hotel bills itself as a "resort", I expected more.
