We stayed 4 nights at the lodge last year, with Wes as a host. He's a special guy, we liked him a lot. His breakfast was 'Wes' style' (go find out yourself what that means). Room was good enough, beautiful view from veranda/balcony. Very conveniently located in relation to the North Rim of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison River.

We driving past the state parks in Crawford this lodge stands out on top of the hill. It's rustic cabin built in the 80's with beautiful views of the water, mountains, and needle point. The host Wes was very accommodating and helpful. The rooms are small and the floors creak but the views are great and the place is clean.... More

The views and the quietness are wonderful! The sheets were clean, the innkeeper was nice, but the place was a bit of a disappointment. The pictures online show only exterior wall rooms, which have a great log cabin type wall, in reality, the rooms were finished in press board instead of the quaint cabin feel. The rooms are small, which... More

We decided to visit the North Rim of Black Canyon of the Gunnison. Because of a soccer tourney in Montrose, we had to find another option for the night. We happened upon the Last Frontier Lodge. Wes took us in and showed us the room and it was very reasonable. Since it was just a night we decided to stay.... More

Wes was very accommodating to our party of 17. It was my daughters wedding and I wanted us all together instead of spread out. The rooms and lodge are rustic and comfortable, and the view is beyond words.

I'm sitting at the table in the great room right now in the Last Frontier Lodge. The downstairs is spacious with deck all around. The chairs don't match; the ductwork is visible, and the view out the windows which surround me is gorgeous in all directions. We slept soundly in number 6, a cozy room with toilet and shower en... The view is pretty remarkable from the deck and balcony that spreads across all rooms. And, Crawford's location is a comfortable drive from Aspen, the black canyon and Curecanti. But, our stay here was not so comfortable. There is no air conditioning in the unit. The shared toilet to our room was a little box smaller than an elevator and... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The proprietor is very considerate and is around if you need him but not if you would prefer some privacy. We felt very at home in the relaxed atmosphere. The house has a rustic feel and appearance which fits in perfectly with the surroundings. My only complaint would be that rooms can be a... More

“Number 6 was terrific. En suite bath and a great sunrise view. There's NO traffic because this is the end of the road . There is also little soundproofing, so I suppose that could be a problem if there were noisy guests. Not a problem tonight.”
