We had a very nice stay at the Fairfield in Durango. Our room was a king suite and it was exactly what we hoped for - roomy, very clean and comfortable. We were glad to have a shower that was bigger than a postage stamp and really appreciated the in-room Keurig. The location is a very short drive away from historic downtown Durango and the Durango/Silverton train depot.

Housekeeping throughout the hotel was on point. The nice patio area the back of the hotel was a great place to relax and unwind after a day of sightseeing.

We would definitely stay here again.

Stayed for 5 nights.
Initially given room facing road, which we weren’t keen on. The young lady at Reception was very helpful and moved us to the 2nd floor (top) facing the hill.
This room was for disabled but as it was not required we took it as it was the only available.
The room was large, had a tub with shower over which was fine - and it was quiet, although you do hear neighbours walking around their rooms (soft thuds).
Wifi good, breakfast had a large array of choices, although not all to our palate. Make your own waffles, cereal choice lacking, no museli or cornflakes. Chef wandered about being super happy, friendly & helpful.
Happy with location, just out of town, easy walk in, plentiful parking.
Only down side, rooms only made up every 3 days.
This meant (because rooms weren’t topped up when we arrived) we had to ask for more toilet paper, shower body wash and towels replaced - which is a bit irritating when your paying this level of $$.
Would I recommend and would I return.
Yes, but specify a rear room.

Chef Ralph’s food and service at the complimentary breakfast is one of the best values in Colorado. He is a delight. I have never had a better Spinach Quiche. As others noted, the elevator is a little loud and I could easily hear my neighbor sneezing but that’s not too different than other Fairfields where I’ve stayed. Chef Ralph, on the other hand, is a rare find and elevates any trip to Durango.

This hotel is pricey but I’m sure it’s because you can walk to the downtown area. We had to have housekeeping change our bedding on arrival due to stains and a long hair on our sheets. Room was quiet with lots of room. Nice breakfast with great wait staff constantly asking if you need anything and even saw several deer out window one morning. Probably would stay again if price was comparable to other properties.

Room Tip: We had top floor room at the end of the hall- lots of room and quiet.

First time at this Fairfield Inn but definitely will not be our last. What a great experience. The room was spotless, bed incredibly comfortable and the location was perfect. When we arrived the front desk staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. But all of that said, the best part of the stay was BREAKFAST! Chef RALPH was absolutely amazing. Never have I seen someone take so much pride in what they do and trust me when I tell you, he does it as well as you could ever imagine. The food was outstanding and the breakfast area is simply spotless. When we walked into the room we knew right away that the breakfast area was well maintained by the appearance of the countertops. Everything was neat, clean and in total order. I've been to many B&B's over the years and none have ever been better at preparing breakfast for a large group. Thanks for a great stay and I promise we'll be back soon.

The Fairfield Inn Durango is conveniently located to downtown and the Durango Railroad. The staff is very friendly and professional. The rooms are clean and roomy. The minor shortcomings are the lack of an in room safe and a very noisy elevator. BUT, the highlight of our stay was the free breakfast! What other Fairfield, or any other brand, has a private chef prepare the breakfast AND greet you as you enter the dining area? Chef Ralph manages the breakfast buffet and it has some of the standard items such as bagels, English muffins and cereals. The hot breakfast is over-the-top! Crustless quiche one day, spinach omelet the next! Best of all, biscuits with gravy made with Hatch chiles! Chef Ralph made our stay outstanding.

Spent 3 wonderful nights here. Clean hotel with excellent front desk staff. Came down each morning at 6 am for breakfast and found good quality food options, including plenty of fruit! (Something I often find lacking on hotel style "breakfast included" type buffets.). The staff working the area each morning were diligent with keeping food fresh and tables clean. The room itself is smallish in size on the bedroom side, but quite spacious on the bathroom side. Very good walking distance to the Main St. Durango fun and equally quick road access to Mesa Verde N.P. Stay here. You'll be pleased.

Ok stay. Visited over fall break, the hotel is in a good location. Close to Downtown and close to Durango/Silverton railroad. Checked in early evening hours, front staff was not at all friendly. We asked about places nearby to eat and she just hands us the list of places without saying one word. Our room was clean, however housekeeping missed a used wash cloth on the curtain rod.
Overall the stay was fine.

I stayed at this Marriott for almost three weeks in January for business. The hotel is VERY clean, and the staff was helpful and friendly. During the week, Ralph is in charge of breakfast. He went above and beyond- filling our water bottles for the day and bringing us extra food he knew we would like. The evening front desk person, Sarah, was very friendly, helping us find plates and plasticware for our many carry-out meals. The housekeeping staff was excellent and my room was cleaned daily. This Marriott always had change for laundry, housekeeping, etc. I can't say enough nice things about my stay at this hotel.

Hotel was great, clean and in itself. A Marriot...the difference is the staff! Sarah killed it at the front, very nice, warm and welcoming. Then come breakfast...I hadn't read about this previously, I experienced it then researched. They have what appears to be a true professional chef, Chef Ralph, who is so friendly and nice it at first might back you up. But he stays on it, refilling your drinks, offering you different foods, listening very closely and learning about you. I witnessed my second day, a guest enter the breakfast area, Chef Ralph changed the tv channel, then welcomed the guest "good morning sir, I have your coffee and your favorite program on", then proceeded to explain how he modified the "standard Marriot breakfast" with his special twist. Case and point, he modified the biscuit gravy to be "double smoked sausage green Chile gravy", to die for!! He really changes the home away from home feel and makes you feel like a millionaire. I am not sure what the hotel does to keep him but they have it figured out. He alone will be why I chose the hotel over and over. Chef Ralph, Sarah, and the rest of the Fairfield Durango crew, thank you and great job!

Is this hotel walkable to the town without walking along a highway?
Answer from Adrienne M
Great Question! Unfortunately, there is a small stretch that leads from our property to the Durango river trail that is along the highway, and there is no alternative as far as walking to town goes. I apologize for any inconvenience! Let us know if there is anything else we can help you with! The Fairfield Team
