Detailed Reviews
We stayed in a 2nd floor balcony room in July for 2 nights. The balcony faced west. The AC was set as low as we could set it and the room temperature was 79 degrees. We took the train to Silverton the next day and arrived back at 5:30 pm. Outside air temp was 90 deg and room temp was 76. Old Ac unit just can’t keep up. We heard a gunshot nearby the first night with cops in the parking lot the next morning investigating. The next night we heard rowdy people in the parking lot until about 11 pm.

We had a great stay at the Durango Lodge. We were looking for affordable lodging that was close the train depot for the Durango/Silverton Narrow Gauge Steam Train and this was within less than a 5-10 minute walk from the lodge/parking for the train. Also, equally close to the quaint downtown area which is very walkable to enjoy all the local shops and restaurants. Our room was very clean and also very quiet. The breakfast selection was adequate to get our day started. I would stay here again. The train ride was well worth going out of our way for and staying a night in Durango - absolutely stunning! Thank you for a great stay Durango Lodge!

Great location - just a short walk to Train Station and Main Street.
That way the car can stop.
Large room with comfortable beds well equipped with everything you need
A beautiful outdoor pool with hot tub is available. The staff was very friendly We especially liked that Durango Lodge accepted our lost suitcase and sent it back by the airline and kept it for us until our arrival.
Unfortunately, right across from the lodge is a large construction site with noise early in the morning. Rooms facing the pool are therefore certainly quieter
The breakfast was very clear and still has air up.

Staff at reception extremely unpleasant and surly.
Room service for a 2-day stay apparently must be demanded upfront or nothing gets done: no new sheets, no new towels (old towels stay on the floor of the bathroom), no new toiletries, no picking up of garbage. Not to mention the breakfast which is an abysmal spread of day-old pastries and rotten bananas. However the coffee is hot.
Interestingly enough, this hotel cannot print you a bill from a printer. The bill is on an hand-written sheet of paper. Pathetic...And you pay a ridiculous high price.
On the positive side, the hotel is in a superb location and the rooms are clean.
As a summary, the downtown location does not justify the unacceptable flaws of this property.
There are a lot of places to stay in touristy Durango without patronizing such a dismal hotel.
My recommendation: look elsewhere

First the AC would not work and the room was 78 degrees- way too hot to sleep. Eventually the staff fixed it but it interrupted our evening. The next day we returned after a long trip on the Durango Silverton train to see that our room keys no longer worked and a new set needed to be provided. Then Another trip to front desk because our room was never cleaned! . Front desk did get us towels but our trash was never emptied . The breakfast area was stuck in a tight corner by the front desk where only about 4 people could fit so we had to carry our breakfast up to our room via the outside stairs . We were very disappointed with the lack of service provided and no compensation offered for our multiple inconveniences.

Wonderful room and extremely comfortable bed and pillows. Room was quiet and very clean. Ample parking and a short walk to the Durango Train Station, restaurants and shopping. Continental breakfast was adequate and breakfast sandwiches were available upon request. Will stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay as the location was in walking distance to the train station in the heart of the old historic district. We liked the convenience of being nearby all the sights and sounds of Durango. The continental breakfast was great for a grab and go.

We travelled to Durango to see the train, and chose this hotel because of it's convenient location in relation to the depot. We were impressed with the hotel and the staff. Very friendly staff, very clean room, and our daughter loved the pool. The hotel is conveniently located near the stores and restaurants downtown, including McDonalds. Would definitely stay here again if we ever make it back to Durango.

The Durango Lodge is in a perfect location for exploring Old Town Durango. It is also a very comfortable and clean place to stay. We were there for only one night but could have easily stayed more based on the comfort of the room. A continental breakfast is provided in the lobby of the hotel and you can take it back to your room. The staff were extremely friendly as were the owners. We walked back and forth to Old Town several times and it was nice to have dinner within walking distance.
We did not take advantage of the hot tub or pool but they looked inviting.
