Bed was very comfortable and ac unit worked well, drowning out outside noise nicely. Plenty of room space and storage room with a microwave and fridge (which froze everything) as well. Very friendly and helpful staff, and free breakfast was not extensive but good.
Not associated with the hotel in any way, but we expected a town that played on its historic image and instead found a town with many homeless drug addicts who panhandle in many public areas such as grocery stores and street corners, marijuana smoke permeating most of the town along with unfriendly weirdos and hippies everywhere.

I booked this based on reviews and prices but found out the evening we were checking in that there was no heat in any of the rooms.
It doesn’t have an elevator for the 2nd floor and all rooms face outside. Breakfast is ok. While the front desk staff is friendly, they are also very hard to understand. It also appeared that our bathroom wasn’t quite finished in a remodel. The floor board is missing and looks really bad.
Good things were that our room is spacious, bed was comfy, there is a microwave and fridge. It’s a fairly quiet location. The front desk also gave us an extra blanket for the bed but you have to ask.
The first morning that we woke up at the hotel we discovered that the breakfast was not even up to very minimal standards. The coffee was terribly weak. There was not enough food and not enough space to sit at a table. If you did not want to eat a waffle, you had very limited options. They ran out of sausages, which was the only protein, and did not replace them. The entire room and bathroom were suspect. The room didn’t look 100% clean, the tile in the bathroom had been poorly patched with some kind of caulking, and there were rotted places in the woodwork throughout. There was no screen on the bathroom window. The absolute last straw was that the evening of our third and last night, there was no hot water for cleaning up. When we called the front desk, they told us that there had been a gas leak and that they had turned off the boiler. I was concerned enough about the words gas leak that I myself looked up the local gas company and called them to file a report. The next morning we awoke to no hot water again.
Not only would we never stay here again, it has completely turned us off ever staying at any Wyndham property of any sort, knowing that they allow this to happen. I’m not sure this place even should be allowed to operate based on city of Durango standards. Perhaps they should be investigated and even lose their business license.
Probably the worst Best Westerns we have stayed in during our month long road trip.
Breakfast looked and tasted like it was cooked the day before and just heated up. We ended up just picking up breakfast items from the grocery store across the street.
Our room had food left in the refrigerator from the previous guest. The refrigerator froze our food and drinks.
The heater couldn't be shut off or Aturned down. The room was way too hot. We had to use our fan to make it somewhat comfortable at night.
The lock on the door was malfunctioning making it difficult to get out of the room. A safety issue!
The room key stopped working.
The cleanliness of the room and hotel was questionable.
FYI: This facility is being used to house the homeless in the area. Unfortunately evidence of drug use.
A couple looked like the should be in a residential drug rehab to get the help they really need.
The homeless definitely need a place to stay and get the help they need but this hotel is probably not the best place!

After having a reservation for over a month, it was changed to a smaller room last minute and I was told that I cools either accept it or cancelled. I was already in the middle of a family vacation trip so I had no choice but to accept. Then after checking in we found the room air conditioner was not working, I was told by staff that they were in the process of upgrading the AC units but not all the room were done and that some had bad units in them. I asked to be moved to another room and was told they couldn’t so we had to sleep, 4 of us, on a room with no AC in the middle of June.
I asked to speak with a manager but was never able to.
This hotel is run by people that have little care for customers satisfaction and have no problem ruin your plans. Stay away at all cost.
