This is an older motel with dated furnishings, divided into 3 separate buildings. Rooms are pretty compact. The air conditioner in my room was built into the back wall and the air flow was partially obstructed by the closet wall. But there was a mini fridge and a microwave as well as, of all things, an old-fashioned blackboard for leaving reminders. Housekeeping and refreshed toiletries were by request unless you are staying longer term. then it's like every 3 days. Breakfast was minimal and currently served in the lobby area, not in the upstairs dedicated dining area. There are some restaurants and a grocery nearby and the Animas river is just behind the rear bank of buildings. Find your way there and take a walk along the shoreline.

Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Room was average, comfortable beds, the shower had good pressure, but the faucet was temperamental. A paved walking/biking trail is a block away so we walked into the downtown area for dinner. The trail followed the river for some of the mile distance - some shade, some sun. It was a nice walk. We ate dinner in the nice downtown area and then rode the bus back. We enjoyed our evening. Breakfast is not available on-site, but a 20% discount is given to hotel guests at a restaurant across the street. We decided to skip breakfast and get an early start on Colorado Highway 550 - The Million Dollar Highway!

The Quality Inn is 2-miles northwest of center city, and located across a side street from the Animas River. It was comfortable and clean for our one-night stay. The property is older, and large, with more than building. There are outside stairs and walkways on the upper floors, but no elevator. Parking is in front of one’s room.
Dogs are the only pets welcome and they stay with a fee.
Breakfast is not included.

This OVER-PRICED Motel advertises a HOT BREAKFAST and it does NOT deliver, unless you consider one Belgium Waffle maker a hot breakfast.

This is a $80 caliber Motel charging $130 only because they can. But for the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge RR, this place would go bust. The train trip is well worth the visit, but suggest you stay elsewhere for the price.

The Young man on the Desk during the day and afternoon was a true delight and is eager to be helpful. Im sure if he treid, he could get a better paying job with real advancement opportunity.

The room was marginally clean. The bath tube was not. We were there two nights. It was cleaner after we showred! There is NO nightstand on the left side of the bed. The A/C is an old window unit place high onto a wall over the bath vanity. A bit noisy but it worked.

The location is two mile from downtown and the train station. An easy commute.

Subpar, old hotel, no breakfast, nice location, can hear the river running from hotel, brand new towels but hadn’t been washed so there were fibers everywhere and didn’t dry very well. Seemed clean enough but needs remodeling, air conditioner spit out black foam pieces while on. We paid $200.00 a night it was Memorial Day weekend but still seems high for subpar conditions.

Booked this Motel through Expedia. Within 10 minutes of booking the room someone from the Motel called my cellphone, with all of my reservation information, telling me a $500 cash deposit is required at check in to stay there. They said it is their “local resident policy” even though I don’t live in Colorado. He tried to reassure me I would get the $500 cash back at checkout. Looking at their website and Expedias listing, this “policy” is not written anywhere. They then told me I could not stay there without the $500 cash deposit even though I had paid for my reservation in full online already.

Generally the room was acceptable for a 2 star property given the price for a three night stay. Breakfast was pretty weak. Good access to City Market.

On check out day, very early in the morning, when running the in-room coffee maker and microwave, the room lost electricity. The desk attendant told me 'we can't give you another room since you are checking out today.' I suggested it was a blown fuse or circuit, which might be easily reset. The attendant did not seem to know how to handle that possibility. I asked how I should handle the situation, and he suggested using the flashlight on my cell phone.

Anyhow, began loading the car for checkout with no place to go.

Called Choice Hotels (I had plenty of time on my hands) who arranged to refund 50% of the last night's stay.

After a worse stay and resolution failure at an Econolodge, it is unlikely we consider a Choice Hotel.

We sought an affordable pet friendly hotel for two nights in Durango and were very disappointed. Here's why we recommend that you seek other accommodations, the king size bed room did not have a bedside table or an outlet on one side of the bed, the bathroom tub DID NOT DRAIN, the room came with just one caffeinated coffee pod, the coffee in the lobby was brown water and the complementary breakfast was was basically cereal, bananas, yogurt, milk, weak coffee and some kind of orange water. The last straw occurred AFTER we checked out. When we reserved the room we specifically requested a pet friendly room for two dogs. When we checked in and out, there was no mention at the front desk of any additional charges. Once we got home, we got a notice from our credit card company and subsequently learned that the hotel had added $20 per night per dog for a total of an additional $80. Bottom line, we'll never stay here again.

I’m only commenting on the fact that this motel tacked on a $200 cash only security deposit when I tried to check in. No mention of this was made when I received my paid in full reservation confirmation. Hardly a “good value” considering the additional fee.

The parking is a nightmare. I’m disabled and I couldn’t find a parking place except for one in another building. The parking is a narrow alley and difficult to maneuver. There are about 30 motorcycles and each took up one parking space. The swimming pool is not a pool. It’s filled with dirt! The bikers decided to throw a party at the dirt pool at 10 o’clock playing loud music and my room happened to be right next to the diet pool. It cost me nearly $200.00 on a weeknight for two people with a discount. Im disgusted.
