Detailed Reviews
Four Mile Creek is maybe the most hidden Gem I have found in my travels. How to describe it ?, that's not easy because I have never run across anything quite like it. Lets start with the physical description ; that's easy, its 2 acres with a farm house, barn, and three cabins along a creek with lots of trees set in the Rocky Mountain splendor.
The original log farmhouse is where fantastic breakfasts are served and you will get to know your hosts , Jim and Sheryl. The accommodations are comfortable and cozy. But if you are looking for over -the -top , you might be better driving up to Aspen.
So, what makes it a Gem ?...... Jim and Sheryl are unique artists who have the ability to create art from anything old by finding a new use for it or way to display it. I could give some examples, but I'm afraid it could not do it justice. The grounds are kinda like a museum in that many items will remind you of where we have come from. You wil see that these previously discarded items are transformed from neglected ( of no use ) items to true art..
The peace of the creek running by and the joy of creativity at every turn makes this a unique place for your mind and body to restore itself.

Jim and Sheryl have nurtured with loving care and passion a classic B&B in the true sense. Set in the foothills of Aspen and in close proximity to Glenwood Springs, Carbondale etc., Four Mile Creek is the perfect spot to relax and rejuvenate. The setting is immaculate with the creek running through the property and plenty of green around it for your to soak in. Jim and Sheryl go out of the way to make you feel at home. The breakfast is delectable and Jim can recommend local options for you to explore around in addition to the bunch of stories from his life experiences. If you are headed to this neck of the woods, staying here would be a no brainer!

Four Mile Creek Bed and Breakfast is an exceptional place! We were able to get a large cabin for 1 night and experience the beautiful tranquil getaway! It is about only 20 minutes from Glenwood Springs but feels like a different world. The cabin is spacious, clean, with kitchen and full size refrigerator. The grounds are so picturesque, so beautiful and peaceful, with small garden, many secluded areas to relax and treasure the nature.Â
The owners are amazing! Welcoming and kind, running their unique place by themselves (homemade breakfast was great!). Intelligent nice couple with many fun stories!
Never been to such a special place, we felt welcomed every moment, appreciating tranquility and connection with nature.
Enjoyed every minute of our short countryside stay and definitely will be back.

The cabin was filthy, with mice running around when we returned from dinner. The bathtub looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months and the carpeting was wet throughout the cabin. They no longer serve a hearty breakfast but left micro wave food in the refrigerator. Since we couldn’t find another place to stay, the owners offed us a bedroom in the main house for the night. We left very disappointed and would never recommend this place to anyone. At least they didn’t charge us for the one night stay.

Response from Jim Hawkins, Owner at Four Mile Creek Bed and Breakfast
Responded Aug 1, 2021
I have never felt the need to respond to a review but this is an exception. First of all, we were sorry these two ladies were unhappy. The cabin sits next to a creek in a rural setting and it is impossible to keep every small critter out but we try very hard to do just that. The basically hysterical reaction to spotting a field mouse was met with an immediate attempt to find them other lodging and offering to move them into the main house. The tub is cleaned on a daily basis and less than half of the cabin is carpeted and it was not wet. None of these items were mentioned in any way to us. Due to Covid we could no longer serve family style breakfasts in the main house, around a big table. In an attempt to still provide a good breakfast, we place trays in the refrigerators with the following items. Orange Juice, plate of fresh fruit, homemade ginger cranberry scones, servings of homemade quiche and individual yogurts. Coffee and creamer are also provided. It is quite obvious from other reviews from this guest, that they prefer slick and fancy resorts, with a knowledgeable "doorman". I wish them luck and hope they find accommodations that meet their level of expectations.

Oh my gosh, I fell in love with this place! It was like a breath of fresh air. The owners were very friendly and helpful, the quiet location with the creek running behind it was divine, the cabin was clean, roomy, and perfect. I really don't want to give a good review because I want to keep this place hidden! But I can't resist, it was all just too wonderful and I loved the owners too much to not do one.

Four Mile Creek B&B is something special. Jim and Sheryl are wonderful hosts who treat you like family. They are true artists who have created a retreat that you never want to leave. The grounds are beautiful, the accommodations have a cozy/rustic charm, and the barn is indescribably awesome. We even took a few engagement pictures in the loft! 10/10 would stay again.

Stayed at this location on our drive across the USA. The accommodation was in an old milking room in the barn. The contents are unique, old and interesting. The room was clean and tidy with concrete floors. The room was furnished with antique pieces. Unfortunately, the surrounds are in desperate need of upkeep and is overgrown with shrubs and grass. No chance to walk around to experience the surrounds. A unique and interesting stay.

I just spent a wonderful weekend with Jim and Sheryl for songwriting workshop. I spent some lovely quiet time journaling at the creekside table. The breakfast scones that Jim makes are to die for. And the songs he sings are cool too.

Four Mile Creek is such a wonderful place! Jim and Sharrill are friendly, kind and a pleasure to visit with. The rooms are very nicely decorated and the cabins are just so very cozy. My husband and I will always call there first if we are going to Glenwood.
