The St. Elmo Hotel is a historic hotel that is so beautiful and perfect you would never know it was constructed in 1889. The family that owns the hotel are hands on and were there to even help out serving delicious breakfasts and coffee every morning. Traveled with a friend and we had a suite that I describe as a... I visit Ouray frequently and have never stayed here before - that mistake will be corrected from now on. This is a beautiful building with antique furnishings throughout. Each room is unique and has modern updates in the baths. The wi-fi was available anywhere in the hotel and the breakfast was delicious. I felt like I was staying at a... More

We only stayed one night, but had a great time. The room was at the front of the hotel just before the road goes up the mountain. I thought we might hear cars downshifting at night - but everything was very quiet - and we could see the Cascade Waterfall from the window. The decorations were very attractive, and the... More

Quiet, beautifully decorated and furnished. In the small town of Ouray in the Colarado Rockies. We had a very hairy ride in our hire car over three 10,000 foot passes to get here from Durango and Mesa Verde. Delicious finely crafted breakfast. A lot of love & care has gone into the small hotel. Lovely four poster beds! Ouray is... More

We were on a bicycle tour and absolutely loved this hotel. This little mountain town was so welcoming including the owners of St.Elmo. I also have to say that The Backstreet cafe opened early for all of the cyclist. The note on the door said "we are opening early just for you". A big thank you to all of Ouray!!!!

Great early 20th century hotel. We stayed here 2 nights for our anniversary and really liked the St Elmo. I believe there are either new owners, or the previous owners (see some of the bad reviews after the old owners left) have taken back control. There was a 'for sale' sign in a front window during our stay.

Our stay was to celebrate a birthday and we were not disappointed! The antique decor and charming rooms were everything that was promised. The afternoon wine hour was a nice way to relax before dining in the fabulous Italian restaurant on the lower level of the hotel. A very nice place to stay and celebrate a special occasion or just... Stayed two nights in a room next to the river that runs through town. Lovely decorations in all the rooms and very clean. Came with my in-laws, husband and 5 mth old daughter. The lady that was making breakfast played with my daughter while we all ate so I could enjoy myself. Everyone there was nice and welcoming. Will stay... More

Our room smelled like sewer and the inn keepers ( the owners) were know where to be found. There was no answer when we called to change rooms. In fact we saw them when we checked in to pay then did not see them for two days. When they checked us in they were very short with us and did... More

We have been comin here for years and it's always the same! That's what's great about being historic - really feels like being back in time in this small old town. Upgrades and accommodations are great though. Very clean building. Staff is very friendly. And hot tub out back has a great view. Awesome place to stay - we'll be... More

Step back in time and relive the glory days of Colorado's col-or-ful past... At the St. Elmo Hotel in Ouray, Col-orado. Once bustling with gold and sil-ver seek-ers, Ouray today is a pic-turesque ham-let, sur-rounded by 14,000 foot peaks in the majes-tic San Juan moun-tains of south-west Col-orado. The St. Elmo Hotel is a lov-ingly restored, turn-of-the-century inn located in the heart of Ouray, Col-orado, a national his-toric dis-trict. Dec-o-rated with Vic-to-rian flair and full of period antiques, this 9-room Col-orado bed and break-fast inn delights guests with a wine & cheese social hour every after-noon in the cozy par-lor and a full buf-fet break-fast every morn-ing served in the sunny break-fast room. After spend-ing the day dis-cov-er-ing a new hik-ing trail or the fine shops in the area, a soak in the out-door hot tub is a great way to relax while sur-rounded by the beau-ti-ful San Juan mountains. ... more   less
