We took a break on our Colorado Trail hike last week and stayed at the Simple Lodge. What a sweet, humble, friendly place to stay! Ashlyn made us feel very welcome, and the room we rented was comfy and quiet. It was a joy to hang out on the front porch with fellow hikers, after doing our laundry (on site)... More

I guess I needed my glasses when I made the reservation. I looked in Salida for inexpensive hotels. We were only passing through, after all. Well, I found the Simple Lodge and "Hotel" - as I thought. Actually it was the Simple Lodge and HoStel. So there we are, two middle aged women. We pull up to the "Hotel" and... More

Stayed one night. This is a very nice place. Very homey and the host (Mel) was friendly. Bed was comfortable and everything is clean. Kitchen was well stocked with essentials. Bathrooms and showers have plenty hot water. Located in the historic district walking distance to restaurants and bars. Wifi works great.

After staying at quite a few hostels, I was impressed with this one. The room/ bed/ communal; areas are all very homey and clean. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The hostel was quiet ( sometimes this is not the case!), and the bed we slept ( downstairs private room) was VERY comfortable and felt special with a big, wooden... More

Vibrant Colours, Friendly, helpful staff - Love Salida & Simple Lodging. Stayed for 6 nights - wonderful diverse group of travelers & an exceptional hostel in an artistic amazing community! Spectacular Beauty. Opening the window is the remedy to it being too hot - no problem! Salida is in the banana belt in CO - moderate temps comparatively

Stayed here for three nights while getting familiar with Salida and it was perfect for that. Right on the edge of downtown, within walking distance of everything, and easy to get to when driving into and out of town. This was one of the most relaxing hostels I've stayed at (and I've stayed in many in several different countries.) The... More

Well located near downtown conveniences. I walked to the library, grocery store, restaurants. Reasonably clean. Kitchen had all the essentials. Helpful staff who provided info, brought me in from the trail, and sometimes give rides back to the trail. Would stay there again.

Owners, please do take this feedback in the constructive manner intended. I really, truly hope the owners do something to properly fix this problem. I would love to see this business succeed. We need more budget accommodation like this, especially for Colorado Trail through hikers. I spent 2 nights sleeping in the 8-person bunk room. I was in a top... More

Not that I've sated anywhere else in salida, but I wouldn't want to :) great hosts, nice natural relaxed vibe, good location, and right next to S mountain. John and Julia also know most (or are known by!) the locals so if you need any services, they know who to call

My son and I stayed in the suite where you get your own bathroom, a full kitchen with everything you need to actually cook, and, greatest of all, a really nice comfortable balcony off the back of the building big enough to accommodate a full-sized round kitchen table. The place was quiet, clean, and right in the middle of this... More
