84 degree room, (only partially solved by a very loud outdoor mounted air conditioner that needed to be connected and could not be adjusted without standing on a folding chair), extremely steep stairs (my dog could not go up and down them), no parking one night, outdoor smoking allowed (so windows could not be opened), cleanliness borderline (spider webs on light fixtures and dirty phone), quirky door bolt, and it seems like some rooms are rented for permanent residents who congregate in the parking lot (smoking), overall not a safe feeling. The internet was slow and undependable, no coffee one day, there is no counter in the bathroom, and on the final morning —no electricity! (although this was a city wide, not motel, issue). If you don’t mind all that, it will be fine for you.
I have nothing but good things to share about the staff of the Woodland Motel! I found them to be extremely accommodating, kind, and, professional. I truly have not dealt with more empathetic and kind-hearted folks than the folks working here! From the front desk to management, rest assured that they will take care of you. They are very easy to work with (even across different time zones), which is not something you encounter with most hotels these days. Shoutout to Ben for being an amazing example of world-class customer service! He was such a delight to work with! If we didn’t live on the East Coast I would want to be friends with him! This guys needs a raise, a promotion, or both, he seriously deserves it. I hope that everyone considering staying here jumps at the opportunity! If you don’t, you’re missing out. I know for a fact that we will make it a point to stay at this motel every time we visit Colorado.…
The room I stayed in was very clean and comfortable. Everything worked, and it even had a kitchenette! The location is pretty good, although it would be a 1/2 mile walk to the center of the downtown area. Even so, close enough. Ingress/egress was easy. The desk clerk was friendly and efficient. I would happily stay here again!
I love the relaxed vibe from the owners. I had very low expectations of this place, because the price is so reasonable, but it ended up being better than anywhere else I stayed on this trip. The room is super quiet, the AC works GREAT, the shower was hot and strong. There was a min-fridge, microwave and a coffee pot in the room. The shades and drapes do a good job keeping the AM light from peeping in. My only complaint was there's a lumpy mattress pad under the sheet. I think it'd be easily changed.
The price was great and it was spotless! Everything seemed very well taken care and updated. Bed was comfortable. Pets are welcome. Salida is a nice, small touristy two. We would love to come back and visit. I highly recommend!
