Reviews Summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

Hyatt Place St. Augustine / Vilano Beach is often highlighted for its close beach access and its variety of amenities, including a rooftop bar and pet-friendly accommodations, despite some concerns over parking. The hotel's atmosphere is regularly described as new, clean, and modern, with an art deco touch. The friendly and professional staff is frequently lauded, although opinions on value are mixed due to mandatory valet fees and some disappointment with room views. While most guests enjoy the spacious and tidy rooms, noise levels and view misrepresentations have been noted. The location's convenience to local attractions is well-received, yet some guests suggest a car is needed for a wider range of dining options.

We watched this hotel being built and couldn't wait to stay here! Our stay was amazing! Michael, the manager, and James, Connor, and Michael from Valet were some of our favs. These guys work hard and smile even harder. They always remembered us and treated us very kindly. Valet is the only way to park at the hotel unless you find a spot on the street. They charge $25 a night and we tipped the valet every time we came in and every time we left. Every member of the staff we encountered was so pleasant. Everything was so clean and inviting! The room was very large. Our handicapped accessible room had 2 queen beds and a corner sofa that opened to a queen sofa bed. I slept on the sofa bed and it was very comfy. I didn't feel the bars through the matress because it is brand new. The bathroom was also spacious. Our room had a tub but the manager told us if we needed a shower chair he could bring us one. He also has other items that make things easier for handicapped guests such as a toilet riser. This was so wonderful to know. The rooftop area is fabulous for watching sunsets. There is a restaurant up there (we didn't get a chance to eat there though) with tables and chairs to eat at. There is also comfy couches and a few fire pits with chairs around them. This hotel is close to everything in St. Augustine without being in the middle of the hustle and bustle. It took less than 10 minutes to get to some of the major tourist attractions and the restaurants and shopping on St. George Street. The public beach, Vilano Beach, is literally a block away. There is a Publix across the street too. Overall, everything was terrific and we can't wait to stay at this hotel again!

We had a great stay at this newer property. Although not right on the water, it has excellent proximity to the beach; just 1 block away and an easy walk. Everyone we encountered (housekeeping, breakfast staff, valets, and front desk) was helpful/kind. Typical flawless Hyatt service. The beach and hotel are dog friendly! A very big plus for us. We're fine with the reasonable dog fee of $75 for 6 nights or less. This location is MUCH quieter than staying in the historic/downtown area, but that's just a short drive away. There are a few restaurants and a couple shops within walking distance. Be sure to check out the rooftop bar/restaurant. We had a superb meal there. Typical Hyatt Place breakfast, which is quite good for a free breakfast in my opinion. Many of the rooms (but not all) have little balconies. We look forward to staying here again. Highly recommended.

Clean new hotel and room. Room was very spacious, balcony had great view.
Location is good if you want easy access to beach and short drive to St. Augustine; not as hectic with traffic. A couple of restaurants within a short drive or walk. Publix grocery store across street was a plus.
Pool area and rooftop bar area were also clean and spacious.
Staff was friendly and helpful with some ideas for dog friendly activities.
Offered free breakfast.

Could improve - Although hotel is pet friendly, pet was not allowed on rooftop due to food being served up there. Much of the roof top is open air and the bar area where food was served was closed off with roll up gates; so could have a pet friendly area away from the bar area.

Breakfast offerings were very basic and little or no change from day to day. it was very crowded and breakfast area seemed to get overwhelmed.
Elevator had 5 person limit and was kind of shaky. Two of the three elevators ended up breaking down during our stay.
Bedroom area had no light switch to turn on, had to walk in dark to turn on lamp on night stand.
Hotel did not have self park garage. Valet was 25 a night which is excessive. Can park on street for free.

Pool was Not heated! When asked we were told it was heated but the heater that was installed was inefficient to heat pool. This is a poor reflection on Hyatt. Get a new heater.

Beware! Despite the advertising, the pool at this hotel is not heated. During my stay I still received emails advertising their heated pool. Also, although this hotel opened relatively recently as a new Hyatt Place location the property is remodeled - not new - and the remodel appears cheaply and hastily done. There was still splotchy paint on the walls. The saving graces were the location was great and the entire staff was very friendly and accommodating, but considering the cost over New Year’s Eve weekend, I was disappointed in the quality of the property for a Hyatt.

My booking at the Hyatt was a last minute choice with friends and I can happily say we chose correctly. The room was nicely put together and the beds comfy for the late night crash after being in historical downtown. A Uber to the historical downtown was around $10-15 dollars and got us to and from our fun times. Plus the pool was fun to jump in to feel refreshed after running around by the beach during the day.

The Hyatt Place is a lovely addition to the Vilano beach area! It is new and modern with an art deco vibe to it. Probably one of the nicest Hyatt Place properties I’ve ever stayed at!

Our room was quite large and very clean. Comfy bed, nice little sofa area, mini fridge, safe, coffee set up and a cute little balcony with two chairs and a small table. My only issue with this room was the size of the closet (armoire). For the size of the room, the closet was very small. Whoever designed this room was clearly a man! There is plenty of space to put a larger armoire or normal size hotel closet. If you’re staying at this property for more than a week or have more than two people in your room, the closet is going to be an issue.

Breakfast is included in your room rate and is more than adequate. Everything was fresh and was always being replenished. Breakfast staff stayed on top of everything. All the staff at this property were friendly and efficient.

Unfortunately the rooftop bar was closed when we were there. It was very cold and windy during our stay so I understand why it wasn’t open. We did not get a chance to go to their restaurant Pesca, maybe next time. The gym was small but adequate and the pool area was large with plenty of loungers.

We did not have a car with us but it is valet only at $25.00 per day. The hotel is located directly across the street from Publix, liquor store, Chinese food and Surfside casual restaurant which was good! You can take a five minute walk to the beach or the very friendly valet staff will take you in the golf cart.

Would definitely stay here again next time in the Vilano beach area.

My husband and I stayed on points for two nights in early December to sight-see in St. Augustine and experience the Night of Lights activities. The hotel is relatively new - had only been open 6 weeks at this point. Imagine our surprise when turning on the heater on a particularly cold morning seeing smoke billowing out of the locked heating unit, followed by charred paper and ash spreading throughout the room. And what was surprising was that the smoke alarms failed to operate! Fortunately, the maintenance manager was immediately alerted to check it out. Upon speaking to Mike, the hotel's General Manager, he reassured us that the problems would be taken care of. To the extent that these issues are / will be followed through will determine if they will or won't occur in the future.

Otherwise, our stay was excellent. The only other "complaint," if you can call it that, was that the breakfast was rather bland compared to other Hyatt Places where we've stayed. ie there were only one types of fruit (oranges), sausage was served both days in a row that we were there, and there were no muffins or other pastries on the breakfast bar. There were also no variety of creamers other than the standard half and half. But these things are minor. Oh, I also forgot that the pillows were too soft. Not sure if they have options for firm vs soft pillows, but that would be something I would like to see.

TIP: Limited parking around the building. They do have valet parking but they charge you $25 a day unless you are a top tiered Hyatt member, so FYI.

This is a beautiful hotel with easy access to St Augustine and beaches. The roof top bar is wonderful for watching the sun set and grab a bite to eat. The Lobby bar stays open late. Breakfast in the morning was free and offered a big selection of things to eat

New hotel recently opened and has a terrific room layout with a powerful shower and being new, very comfortable beds. If you are a football fan, this hotel does not get NBC or ABC which really, really sucked. You MUST use valet parking as there is no self parking. Breakfast was good with bananas and oranges, no English muffins, but did have some fruit options along with scrambled eggs, sausage and deep fried hash browns. Waffles were the frozen type that we not good.

I travel a lot for business. So overall this place was not too bad. I understand it’s pretty new and that’s reflected in the cleanliness and modern decor of the hotel. The rooms are spacious and actual provide places to put your clothes if you prefer to unpack and not live out of a classroom. The showers are nice and large although an adjustable hand held option would be nice. Plenty of hot water and good water pressure. The water has a weird smell. The beds are on the harder side but lots of pillows provided and they are actually decent. Most rooms have a nice balcony. Large breakfast area with hot and cold options is nice. The best feature, it’s a 3 minute walk to one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve seen. The house cleaning staff was friendly, efficient, and went above and beyond. There is a rooftop bar and a bar/restaurant downstairs. Both are nice.

The elevators are extremely slow for a hotel that only has 4 floors.
The doors stick badly. If you don’t really push or pull on them, they do not latch all the way. This is really a safety issue. Walking the halls showed many open doors. The front desk people were never very helpful or didn’t seem like they knew what they were doing.

A few improvements I would recommend based on my experiences elsewhere:

-provide bottled water to the guests upon check in or in the room, replenish with room service. The local water, even at restaurants is awful.
-provide beach towels that are larger than the regular bath towels offered
-provide or rent beach chairs (most people flying can’t bring these) but it would be nice to have.
