Absolutely love this retro deco motel! This is a place I’ve been wanting to stay since we stumbled upon it a year ago! The atmosphere is a step back in time to a much simpler day! Magical yes…Right at the beautiful Vilano Beach. Just a few steps to a gorgeous sunrise!

We stayed in one of the king bed rooms. The overall vibe is retro and quiet. The room was clean and neat. Because of the current pandemic, rooms were not cleaned daily. That said, cleaning staff were friendly and easily approachable and would gladly hand out any needed supplies. Check in was quick and informative.

Our room was only about 75 steps from the beach and less than 1 block from the grocery store. Because the room had such a nice fridge, we were able to stock up at Publix and ate most of our meals in our room.

Overall, this motel is a good value for the price.

My family was in St Augustine and booked three rooms at the Magic Beach Motel. Two couples stayed one night and then my parents stayed for 5 nights. Loved our stay! My parents loved the breakfast and said their favorite was the biscuits. The motel has great character and we loved the murals in every room, the neon lights of the hotel, and the nice flamingo decorations on the outside. It’s a nice little piece of history. The staff are awesome and provide great customer service - they even provided my parents with extra hangars for their room and my parents enjoyed talking with them throughout their stay. My parents were also given an upgraded room because of the length of the stay and had a 2-bedroom room with a kitchenette and small closet, which was perfect for them. Note that the temp controls may be a bit tricky, so it’s worth making sure you know how to work them before the office closes so they can help if needed - my parents had a bit of trouble getting the heat to turn on their first day, but were able to get it straightened out. We didn’t have any issues with the controls in our room. We stayed in the jacuzzi suite on the second floor, which was very spacious and had a nice little sitting area outside in front of it, a kitchen area, couch, table, and of course, jacuzzi. My sister and her husband stayed in a standard room. All rooms were very clean and the beds were super comfortable. The hotel is very close to the beach, Publix, restaurants, etc. There are fancier hotels out there if that’s what you’re into, but if you want something with a little more character and great service, consider staying here. We decided on this hotel based on the good ratings online and we were not disappointed!

It is cute and homey. We stayed in the Queen Suite with 7 people (3 kids and 4 adults). The kitchen was very small but we were able to eat outside at the table underneath the stairs so that helped out a lot. We would wake up and all meet at the table. There was a total of 14 of us in 4 rooms so that was nice in the morning to grab some donuts from Publix and bring the coffee out to the table and just relax. The employees were very nice and accommodating with all of our requests.

The room we stayed in needs some updating. The Futon was hard to put down and put back up, our toilet was spraying from the top on our last night but they gave us extra towels and did offer to move us but there are 7 of us and it was for one more night. They were not able to fix it while we were there. We did have issues with ants in the kitchen but we fixed that by making sure everything was in ziploc bags (the rest of the family in other rooms did not have this issue).

Our 3 kids had no issues walking to the beach with no shoes on from our room. We loved that they had a hose that we could rinse them off when they brought half the beach back..

We would def come back again

I'm not a review writer but this place was terrible. Heavy dust, mold and just grossness.
The website said they had a breakfast and I was booking two rooms for a my wife and I and my son's family. When I booked I said we were bringing three children so you think that mentioning there's no breakfast now would have been important to share, but they didn't. The hotel across the street looked amazing, was the same price and had a hot breakfast
The silverware in the 'kitchenette' wasn't sufficient for two people and the dishes were dirty!
I had to ask the receptionist to unlock the pool area and she was obviously put out to have to do that even though it was way passed the time to be open. Then when we went to the pool the water level was below the skimmers... guess she hadn't noticed.
There are some very nice hotels in the area for the same price! You make your choice!

We were excited to visit motel; now, sorry we did. Room was filthy. Black Mold in bathroom vent, ceiling, shower & kitchen. Rented room w kitchen but sign on stove-broken. A hole in wall. Never been dusted, look at ceiling fans & headboards/orange mold. Place is sold & being torn down but you could at least clean what you are renting! NO Mural on our wall, said only in a king room but not what the website looks like. Stayed 2 nights-didn’t notice things as we got in & went to bed, left next morning for St Augustine but when we got back that evening-yuck! We paid $461.61 The owner says they’ll refund $75.00, we shall see.
DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.
Health Dept should visit.

2/13 - 2/14/2021 we read all the reviews thinking great location can't be bad. Don't use this motel! The amount of black mold alone should shut this place down. See attached pictures. It was everywhere. The room was very dirty the fans where caked in dust. The light sockets weren't cleaned in a long time. The bathroom was disgusting with looked liked dried blood on the back of the door. Went to the office about the mold and the said they had no idea. No sorry no resolve just oh? The room smelled bad but probably due to mold. I am home today and have a really bad sour throat. I think it is related. Fyi room 108

Magic Beach has been our go-to spot for many, many years. the previous owners were incredibly friendly, knew the guests by name & always made us feel welcomed. the new owners seem to be doing any & every thing to make it difficult to enjoy your stay. many of the room amenities have been removed & they won't allow you to choose a specific room any longer. (i've never encountered a hotel where you can't reserve a specific room. if it's available upon booking, it's available. ?? seems pretty basic to me.) you can request the size bed that you want, but then it's a gamble what you'll get when you arrive. such a shame, we live just a few hours away & used to vacation at MBM 6-8 times/year at least. we won't be back.

Booked the room based on reviews but as we pulled in thought we better check out the room before checking in——glad we did was about to cancel because the rooms honestly are just old and out of date and smelled musty. Now the owners are super nice an accommodating offered to move us to his other location across the street—-better, a lot and ocean view but still dated. I love small business but it’s time to sell this motel retire and enjoy life.

My husband and I travel to St. Augustine at least 4 times a year and this was the first time staying on Vilano Beach. The Magic Motel was just that!! The owners were very friendly and the retro feel of this motel was amazing!! Being just a few feet from the beach and watching the surfers and the sunrise was so relaxing, I can't wait to go back! I highly recommend staying here, it was clean and simple. Loved it!!

The rooms are standard size like a holiday inn. Not cramped but not spacious. With the beautiful beach and things to see you won't be spending much time in the room.

I don't own the place but just stayed there. They have chairs outside the room to sit and ashtrays on a small table to smoke. Very friendly people and a nice place to stay in.

All doors face the street. Vilano Beach is a small quaint beach town, so you don't have to worry. The offices right in the middle of the motel also facing the street with someone there all the time. Doors lock, entry with key card.
Answer from magicbeachmotel
Vilano Beach, Florida
Our motel is not beach front. However, we are but a short walk to the beach. The sidewalk in front leads right to the beach, so it is not necessary to walk across any major street to get there. Fortunately, we did not get any damages from the past hurricane which we are very thankful of!!! But all units were recently renovated about 5 to 6 years now since the new owners took over. They wanted to keep the historic retro style alive but also offer the modern conveniences of any other motel. Please find our pet policy below. But if you have any other inquiries, please call us directly to better assist you. Pet Policy: We only allow small lap dogs that are 25lbs maximum. We do have a pet fee as well which you can inquire about through contacting us directly. You would have to request the pet friendly units which we offer 2 different type of units. We appreciate all inquiries and comments!!! Thank You Magic Beach Motel Staff
