Nice and very clean hotel. Backed up to a river with a paved path around the property. Made it easy and convenient to walk the dog. Nice hot breakfast provided with many choices. Would stay here again.

I will start this by saying I am somewhat of a hotel snob. We were driving to Iowa on a roadtrip from California and I exhaustively searched for the best hotels along the way that I would feel comfortable in the era of Covid. I chose this Holiday Inn Express mostly because most of Glenwood Springs was sold out and I needed something in the vicinity. We were incredibly happy with this choice and I would stay here again in a heartbeat. I paid the extra $5 for a balcony, which was well worth it to have my coffee on the balcony overlooking the beautiful Colorado River, which is directly behind the property. A truly spectacular sight. The room itself was spotless, and came with a very chilled fridge with a freezer compartment, which was extremely useful as we had a cooler of food and ice packs. The check in staff could not have been nicer. The hotel had signs up everywhere reminding people to keep their distance and the hotel's protocols for Covid. Breakfast was grab and go with two hot options that someone brought out to you. Very sanitary. The rooms aren't huge, but was perfectly fine for one night for my family of four. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!!

Good rooms, soft beds, clean all around, and next to the river. Be aware that this hotel is kind of in the middle of nowhere and 20 minutes from Glenwood Springs and any real choice in shopping, restaurants, etc. It seems to be purely a crash and go place for people on the road trying to get to somewhere more interesting. If you care about the breakfast, be prepared to go early or it will be a zoo in a tiny space and they may run out of things, and arrange any meals or anything else you need before you arrive at this remote location.

We stayed in a 2 queen room with a patio and were excited about the opportunity to sit on the patio and watch the River. On the surface the room looked nice but as we spent more time we noticed all the places the walls and furniture were banged up, peeling wall paper, and non-working electric outlets. It is probably time for an update. We did enjoy sitting on the patio watching the River. The breakfast was pretty bad, very strange egg concoction and it was cold and the famous HI Express cinnamon rolls were hard as concrete. The staff in the breakfast area was nice and when I noted the coffee had run out she put out a new urn immediately, I appreciate the responsiveness. This could be a great hotel it just needs a little work to get it back on track.

A true oasis. After a travel nightmare we found this hotel in the middle of the night and could not have been more perfect for our needs. Aaron at the front desk was awesome with his help upon checkin. Our room was very clean (And I am very picky!) The breakfast was the usual free hotel offerings and the worker there (didnt catch his name) was extra friendly and helpful. The location right on the river is nice. Highly recommend this hotel.

We were on our way back from Las Vegas. Usually I make reservations but wasn't sure how far we would drive. In any case, we pulled in and it appeared to be crowded. We asked for two adjoining rooms or one that was close by. My mother in law broke her wrist and needed our attention. The night desk person moved some people around to get us adjoining rooms. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Guests were quiet, the breakfast was good, and the views were awesome.
I would stay here again

We stayed here about 1-1/2 years ago and thought it was an above-average Holiday Inn Express, with a nice setting on the Colorado River. So we booked it again for one night during our drive to California. This time we were disappointed. Nothing terrible, but despite being diamond status with IHG, we were not given any sort of upgrade from a standard room, even though they were not full. We were given a room on the parking lot side on the first floor when my profile requests high floor. No welcome amenity offered or any other recognition of loyalty status. When I asked about the standard welcome points for diamond members when we checked out I was told it would be taken care of, that they had some new staff. Seems like a little more training would be helpful but that is the case most places these days. . .
Breakfast was fine, standard for a HI Express but well supplied and the area was tidy. Our room was looking a bit worn (torn lampshades, etc.) but was comfortable. Overall, worth staying at if you can get a room on the river side with a balcony, otherwise nothing to distinguish it from other hotels in the area.

Most things continue to be excellent but the breakfast has really gone downhill.
The pancake machine was empty and the attendant had gone on break or something. The omelets were stuck together and impossible to remove except in small pieces. There was no facial tissue or lotion in the room but otherwise it was clean and comfortable.

The grounds are over grown with weeds. bushes need to be trimmed way back.
The dumpster is near the back door where most people park and is within SMELL distance to all the rooms on that corner. There are piles of misc trash packed around the dumpster and gate is always open - disgusting!
Some of the staff hang out in the front to smoke and b.s. a great deal of the time.
Cleaning is not the best!

Good basic hotel- but it is old and not very updated. Didn’t hear the train go by at night- although it probably did. This is a lower cost option than Glenwood Springs or further into the mountains that is servicable- but nothing to write home about.

Room Tip: Maybe get a room at the back to cut down on highway or train noise- but I didn’t really hear it.
