My boyfriend and I followed GPS up a winding, unpaved road in a compact car that hated inclines. Just when I was about to call it quits, we saw signs of human life. We parked and walked through 38 degree Fahrenheit weather to the little...More
BRING CASH - After a beautiful fall drive we arrived at the perfect time to get in the pools for sunset. The attendant informed us ONLY CASH and check were accepted and that it would be a 40 minute round trip back to town.
My husband and I visited the hot springs in early September. We arrived on a Wednesday and stayed one night in tent site 4.

I don't think you'll find anyone who can give you a straight answer to this. The weather can be very unpredictable in the mountains (as you probably know, being from Fort Collins). I would say in November, hope for the best but prepare for the worst. If you have 4WD you'll be fine. I have a Subaru and don't own chains. November is right on the cusp- normally I'd say you'd be just fine, but this has been a very wet year and snow could start falling earlier than normal (typically Dec-March is heavier snow season). I'd say go for it if you have 4WD- it's totally worth it. I have also heard there is a shuttle from Steamboat to the springs, but don't know anything about it... Could call and ask.
