While traveling around Connecticut for three days in October, I spent one night at the American Inn. Normally, I do not care for motor inns, but this place was superior to the other two hotels I stayed during my time in the Nutmeg State, It is close enough to I-95 for easy access from and to the highway, but far enough to not hear the road noise. A seafood restaurant where I had a light dinner, a diner and a supermarket are all nearby. The room was very clean and the other guests were quiet. My sleep was not disturbed at all. Finally, the staff was friendly. When I looked for hotels in the greater New Haven area, this was the best value.
Location: 2 Blocks to 95, Diner, Grocery, Wine Store, Donut/Coffee Shop, Seafood Restaurant, Hop/Skip/and a Jump to wonderful Villages of Branford/Guilford/Madison. Very, very, convenient. Wonderful well maintained motel. Lovely owners/staff. Maintained with integrity. Frig/Micro/Heat/AC all in clean functioning order. I have been very pleased with my stay here and recommend it highly to others. I might insert that I am not an easy please.
My wife and I stayed 1 night in this 50’s style roadside motel, arriving at 2PM. A young man quickly checked us in with identification, credit card payment, then gave us the WIFI code and key to #137. We backed up right to our door to unload. The large newly carpeted room had a comfortable king, small micro above a medium sized fridge, small wall TV with an abundance of satellite channels, desk and chair, outside sink and fully outfitted bathroom with exhaust fan. Water is very hot, WIFI strong, AC/heat in a new below window unit and ice from the office. 100 yards down the street is the large Stop and Shop supermarket, a good wine store, 2 gas stations and a Dunkin Donuts. This well maintained motel with clean grounds is conveniently located off I-95 at Rt-1 and the price can’t be beat at $72.45 using Agoda reservation.…
Just a nice pleasant stay at a local motel that is tended to with care. I stayed one night and what a bargain! If you are expecting updated finishes, then this is not the place for you. What you will find here is a clean room with dated finishes and a comfortable bed. My bed had nice clean white linens. Close to everything, park the car and walk to dinner at the Chowder Pot across the street, which I found to be excellent. In the morning walk to Dunkin' and across the street is a Stop & Shop to purchase goodies for the rest of your trip. Without question, I would stay here again.
This motel is by far, offers one of the safest, cleanest and roomiest of stays that I have had in a LONG time. Check-in was quick, friendly...and the owners are very accommodating! The room itself is very up-to-date and quite honestly, high-end quality! Slept very comfortably and the shower was just right! This place is conveniently located for easy access to US-1 and I-95...with plenty of restaurants, cafes, and shopping/activities around every corner! Definitely can't go wrong with this place - and I will be making this a regular stop when I am working here in the area! 5-STARS on this one! - Rumsey
